Titelübersetzung The role of nursing in right heart catheterization. Advantages from peripheral venous access.
Abstract Introduction: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a serious disease that requires early diagnosis to achieve a better patient prognosis. Right heart catheterization (RHC) has become the main diagnostic test for this disease, measuring the pressures from the right heart chambers invasively, using a catheter placed through venous access. Nursing performance has an important role in RHC through peripheral venous access due to its well-done skills for canalization and knowledge about the management and care of these accesses. RHC performed through peripheral venous access provide advantages over those performed through central venous access.
Objective: To analyze the benefits from RHC through peripheral venous access compared to those performed through central venous access, as well as highlighting the role of nursing during this type of procedures.
Method: A retrospective, descriptive, and observational study was performed for patients who underwent RHC in our center between January 2019 to January 2023. We analyzed clinical characteristics, access, fluoroscopy parameters, periprocedural complications, and hospital admissions.
Result: A total of 115 patients were included. The average age was 65±12 years, with 58.1% of females. Risk stratification of PH was the reason for conducting RHC in 82.9%. The anterocubital veins became the main approach (72.2%), performed by hemodynamics nurses, while the central venous ones composed the rest (27.8%), which were done by cardiology specialized doctors. We observed a significant reduction in radiation dose in RHC via anterocubital route compared to central venous access (4.4Gycm
Conclusions: The RHC is an essential tool for the diagnosis of PH, achieving nursing such an important role for those performed by peripheral venous access. Peripheral venous access provides benefits and advantages like the reduction of radiation exposure and scan times, reduced hospital stay. All this could bring greater comfort, safety and better quality of care to the patient.

Abstract The present work aims to map the available scientific evidence on the benefits of using the ISBAR tool in the nursing care of acutely ill adult patients' handover in an emergency department context. To this end, a scoping review was conducted, according to the guidelines proposed by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), to answer the following research question: "What are the benefits of using the ISBAR tool in the nursing care of acutely ill adult patients' handover in an emergency department context?" The bibliographic search was carried out during August and September 2023 in the following electronic databases: CINAHL Complete; MEDLINE Complete; Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials; Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews; and Cochrane Methodology Register. Only works published between 2013 and 2023 were deemed fit for inclusion. All the included studies (9) show that ISBAR methodology, as a standardized tool for transferring nursing care in the emergency service, allows for a safe, clear, and concise transition of nursing care. The benefits relate to patient and professional safety, continuity, and quality of care, as well as patient and professional comfort, with health gains.

Abstract Leveraging inexpensive and human intervention-based annotating methodologies, such as crowdsourcing and web crawling, often leads to datasets with noisy labels. Noisy labels can have a detrimental impact on the performance and generalization of deep neural networks. Robust models that are able to handle and mitigate the effect of these noisy labels are thus essential. In this work, we explore the open challenges of neural network memorization and uncertainty in creating robust learning algorithms with noisy labels. To overcome them, we propose a novel framework called "Bayesian DivideMix++" with two critical components: (i) DivideMix++, to enhance the robustness against memorization and (ii) Monte-Carlo MixMatch, which focuses on improving the effectiveness towards label uncertainty. DivideMix++ improves the pipeline by integrating the warm-up and augmentation pipeline with self-supervised pre-training and dedicated different data augmentations for loss analysis and backpropagation. Monte-Carlo MixMatch leverages uncertainty measurements to mitigate the influence of uncertain samples by reducing their weight in the data augmentation MixMatch step. We validate our proposed pipeline using four datasets encompassing various synthetic and real-world noise settings. We demonstrate the effectiveness and merits of our proposed pipeline using extensive experiments. Bayesian DivideMix++ outperforms the state-of-the-art models by considerable differences in all experiments. Our findings underscore the potential of leveraging these modifications to enhance the performance and generalization of deep neural networks in practical scenarios.

Abstract Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathies are rare conditions with several heterogeneous disease subtypes. They can range from limited muscle or skin involvement to severe, systemic, life-threatening disease. Although the etiology is unknown, some evidence suggests a role for external agents, particularly drugs. Herein, we present a case of a 71-year-old woman with chronic myeloid leukemia who developed imatinib-induced dermatomyositis

Abstract With the arrival of the coronavirus and the advancement of COVID-19 in Brazil, we see a series of impacts and effects on all activities performed by the population causing social isolation and education, it was necessary to rethink how to continue the school year and ensure quality education. and that meets the demand of the school course. The objective of this work is to discuss and present data regarding the organization of students to continue the teaching-learning process through the limitations imposed by social isolation in the context of the pandemic caused by COVID-19. To this end, a bibliographic and documentary research was carried out, with a case study through a questionnaire closed by the Likert Scale distributed virtually through the google form. It was identified that students facing this reality are not mediating efforts to be able to follow classes and activities online, however, it is necessary to highlight that factors such as motivation, physical interaction, advanced technological resources, as well as immediate feedback to resolve doubts and questions during classes are implications that must be thought of to improve a teaching and learning process that meets quality education.

Abstract The perception that urban stormwater policies are non-existent, incomplete, or lacking in aspects that concern the environment and quality of life in cities has become increasingly common. This is partly due to the increased frequency and magnitude of rainfall events resulting from climate change and its economic, social, and environmental consequences. Population concentration and changes in patterns of living, construction, and urbanization contribute to the pollution of water runoff and receiving waters. Thus, quantity and quality problems add up and often require costly solutions, which are then addressed as economic issues. To deal with all these aspects, many of which were previously absent, stormwater public policies require a paradigm shift to break away from institutional inertia and dependence on the previous path. Without the aim of exhausting the subject, this paper discusses the policy aspects that concern stormwater management and the current and desired paradigm shift.

Abstract Long-term monitoring of zooplankton assemblages provides essential knowledge to assess key factors impacting marine ecosystems. Despite the importance of this type of data, monitoring stations worldwide are spatially and temporally limited due to the difficulty of maintaining them. In the northeastern Atlantic area, Cascais-Watch is one monitoring site operating since 2005, despite some constraints throughout the years, and has allowed the collection of important data on the zooplankton communities of the area. The present work summarizes the knowledge collected until 2015 on the biodiversity and dynamics of zooplankton in the site. The results showed a year-round high productivity of the zooplankton abundance, biomass and diversity for the area, with no significant general trends or periodicity, despite the relatively lower winter and higher spring values. The results revealed two main transition periods with marked changes in species composition and dominance of the most abundant taxa. This shift was tentatively attributed to the extended annual dry season verified in Portugal after 2011, the low values of upwelling and precipitation, and the warmer waters. The zooplankton abundance presented an interannual increase for spring periods, and the proportion of Copepoda, the dominant taxa, was lower during summer months, corresponding to increased abundances of Mollusca, Diplostraca (Cladocera) and Cnidaria. In particular, the study shows an increasing abundance of the gelatinous species (particularly Cnidaria) for spring/summer months in recent years, suggesting changes in primary production and prey dynamics. Other relevant tendencies were the higher abundance of meroplankton, such as Bivalvia and fish larvae/eggs, and the decreasing trend in the abundance of the meroplanktonic coastal crustaceans, Decapoda and Cirripedia taxa, highlighting possible changes in the benthic coastal populations in the study region. The present study highlights probable changes and trends in the zooplankton community that should be monitored in the following years.

Abstract There is an ongoing effort to increase rare disease awareness amongst healthcare providers. This front is important and can help to address several challenges faced by rare disease patients, such as lengthy diagnosis times, difficulty in finding adequate providers of medical services and experts, and adequate treatment if one exists. On another front, there is the need for awareness among citizens and their support in the advocacy for public policies towards rare disease patients and families. Awareness campaigns are prevalent in social networks and fundraising events. In this poster, we present a complementary approach to engage society and promote rare disease awareness through children's literature and music. A Portuguese teenager wrote a book ('My Life with my sister'), describing simple and daily moments spent with her teenage sister affected by Sanfilippo syndrome. A professional illustrator designed and illustrated the book. The book is bilingual in Portuguese and English. The author, with the assistance of her music teacher, also composed a song which was recorded with the participation of professional musicians and made into a video clip telling their story and the books. The book and song promote the inclusion and love for people affected by rare diseases and their families. To increase outreach, sister organizations translated the book, adapted the song, and published/ recorded the material in Brazilian Portuguese and French. The proceeds from the sales go towards the Sanfilippo foundations in their respective countries to fund common research projects. The material is being advertised on social media, television, interviews, newspapers, podcasts, libraries, schools, bookshops, book fairs, and others. To date, more than eight hundred books have been sold to individuals and companies. The interviews and video clips add to more than twelve hundred views. The target audience is children, parents, teachers but also companies, and their employees.
