Abstract Acute lung injury is a common critical illness in neonates. Ferroptosis, a novel form of programmed cell death, plays an important role in the process of acute lung injury by regulating iron homeostasis, metabolism of amino acid and lipid peroxidation. In-depth study of the mechanism of ferroptosis in acute lung injury may provide new ideas for its prevention and treatment.

Abstract Nanozyme, characterized by outstanding and inherent enzyme-mimicking properties, have emerged as highly promising alternatives to natural enzymes owning to their exceptional attributes such as regulation of oxidative stress, convenient storage, adjustable catalytic activities, remarkable stability, and effortless scalability for large-scale production. Given the potent regulatory function of nanozymes on oxidative stress and coupled with the fact that reactive oxygen species (ROS) play a vital role in the occurrence and exacerbation of metabolic diseases, nanozyme offer a unique perspective for therapy through multifunctional activities, achieving essential results in the treatment of metabolic diseases by directly scavenging excess ROS or regulating pathologically related molecules. The rational design strategies, nanozyme-enabled therapeutic mechanisms at the cellular level, and the therapies of nanozyme for several typical metabolic diseases and underlying mechanisms are discussed, mainly including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, diabetic wound healing, and others. Finally, the pharmacokinetics, safety analysis, challenges, and outlooks for the application of nanozyme are also presented. This review will provide some instructive perspectives on nanozyme and promote the development of enzyme-mimicking strategies in metabolic disease therapy.

Abstract It is widely accepted that the minus strands of positive single-strand RNA (+ssRNA) viruses function as replication templates only. Gong et al. revealed that the minus strand of two unrelated +ssRNA viruses encodes proteins. This textbook-changing discovery calls for the reconsideration of the molecular mechanisms underlying the infection cycle of +ssRNA viruses.

Abstract Peroxymonosulfate (PMS)-based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) represent an effective method for the remediation of antibiotic-contaminated soils. In this study, a natural pyrite-biochar composite material (FBCx) was developed, demonstrating superior activation performance and achieving a 76% removal rate of SMX from soil within 120 min. There existed different degradation mechanisms for SMX in aqueous and soil solutions, respectively. The production of

Abstract Scalable, high-capacity, and low-power computing architecture is the primary assurance for increasingly manifold and large-scale machine learning tasks. Traditional electronic artificial agents by conventional power-hungry processors have faced the issues of energy and scaling walls, hindering them from the sustainable performance improvement and iterative multi-task learning. Referring to another modality of light, photonic computing has been progressively applied in high-efficient neuromorphic systems. Here, we innovate a reconfigurable lifelong-learning optical neural network (L

Abstract This study aimed to investigate the role and mechanism of POU6F2-AS2 in the development of gastric cancer. POU6F2-AS2 expression was considerably higher in clinical stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) tissues and gastric cancer cell lines (MKN-28 and MGC-803) than in neighbouring normal tissues and gastric mucosa epithelial cells (GES-1). POU6F2-AS2 overexpression resulted in a low overall survival probability, progression-free survival probability and post progression survival probability, as well as increased cell viability, migration and invasion of gastric cancer cells, thereby inhibiting apoptosis. Based on RNA pull-down, cycloheximide and MG132 incubation experiments, POU6F2-AS2 promoted SKP2 by stabilizing NONO expression. In addition,

Abstract Dissolved black carbon (DBC) has high photoactivity, which plays an important role in contaminants photodegradation. However, it is unclear how pyrolysis temperatures would affect the composition and photo-reactivity of DBC at the molecular level. Herein, we combined complementary techniques to study the characteristics of DBC pyrolyzed at 200 - 500 ℃, as well as the photoproduction of reactive species and the photodegradation of tetracycline (TC). Bulk composition characterization found that condensed aromatic carbonyl compounds (ConAC) with narrow molecular weights in DBC experienced an increase from 200 to 500 °C, which enhanced the photoproduction of
