Abstract Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the main risk factors associated with the progression to severe disease or death have been typically advanced age, diabetes mellitus, obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, and chronic pneumopathy. Because of their immunosuppression status, persons with HIV were also expected to have a higher susceptibility to infection or a poor clinical evolution. So far, this has not been confirmed to happen, giving way to hypotheses about the role of immunosuppression or the use of antiretrovirals, which could explain this paradox. In this article we present the existing data on the epidemiology and characteristics of HIV-COVID-19 co-infection, discuss the available evidence on the possible factors involved in the evolution of individuals affected by both viruses, analyze other determinants that may negatively affect persons with HIV during the pandemic, and present recommendations for the prevention and care of COVID-19 infection in the context of HIV.

Antiviral treatment in mild cases could be useful at this time ; COVID-19: En este momento podría ser útil el tratamiento antiviral en casos leves

Abstract: ... centers could treat mild cases of COVID-19. Our country, through strategies for the preventionand control ... less than those required to strengthen the third level of care. ... La letalidad por COVID-19 ...

Abstract COVID-19's lethality as well as its rapid spread are responsible for the current world crisis; therefore, from thebeginning, drugs with antiviral action against this agent were sought. It is impossible, for now, to know whichperson in a mild state will develop a high viral load or have a predisposition to develop an extreme responsefrom the immune system, but early treatment in mild cases would not only guarantee greater efficacy, butwould avoid severe cases. Currently, there are no double blind, randomized clinical trials or meta-analyzesavailable to make safe decisions; meanwhile, the pandemic is advancing in our country, generating pain anddeath. In this context, in Peru, scientific societies have expressed the need for the use of antiviral drugs, evenwith little evidence, based on the probability of success prior to treatment, for their in vitro effects and for theirearly clinical effects, such as: chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, lopinavir, ritonavir. Thus, in thecountry since march 29, 2020, there is a technical standard from the Ministry of Health, which facilitates theuse of these at the national level for moderate and severe cases. We believe that under a structured system,first-level care centers could treat mild cases of COVID-19. Our country, through strategies for the preventionand control of TB and ITS/HIV/AIDS, has experience in managing treatment programs at this level. The costswill be less than those required to strengthen the third level of care.

Abstract Introduction: People living with HIV (PLHIV) who may have experienced biographical disruptions in their life trajectory may have a vulnerability to risk that differs from the general population, particularly in the context of an infectious health crisis. This study aimed to understand the factors associated with concerns about being infected with COVID-19 among PLHIV during the first period of the health crisis.
Methods: This was an online cross-sectional study using an online self-administered questionnaire in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic in France among a population of PLHIV. The recruitment was done via social networks and through various actors in the fight against HIV. The self-questionnaire was available from July 2020 to September 2020.
Results: The ACOVIH study collected 249 responses, 202 men and 47 women, with a mean age of 46.6 ± 12.9 years. The most represented socio-professional categories were employees (n=73.29%), followed by managers, professionals and artists (n=59.24%). The PLHIV most worried about being infected by COVID-19 had a level of education lower than or equal to the baccalaureate, family difficulties related to HIV and a deterioration in the relationship of trust with the HIV medical team.
Conclusion: Feelings of anxiety can have a health and psychosocial impact on PLHIV. It is necessary to consider these negative factors by proposing adapted support and by carrying out preventive actions aiming in particular at improving the literacy of the PLHIV.

Abstract Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic indirectly affected other communicable diseases, such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the epidemiological surveillance of HIV through epidemiological indicators.
Methods: Data collected in the New HIV Diagnosis Information System (SINIVIH, acronym in Spanish) in the period 2013-2021 was analyzed. The epidemiological indicators analyzed were: 1) Reporting delay of new diagnoses; 2) Under diagnosis of cases, calculated per month of diagnosis and for each year of diagnosis; 3) Late diagnosis, cases diagnosed with less than 350 CD4 cell/mm
Results: Regarding the reporting delay of new diagnoses, in 2022 2,770 diagnoses were reported in 2020, 43.8% more than those reported in 2021 for that year. The cases diagnosed per month between 2016 and 2019 followed a constant trend. In 2020, a significant decrease in diagnoses was observed between March and May that was not recovered after correcting for reporting delay. When comparing the rates of cases diagnosed in 2013 with the successive years, a continuous decrease was interrupted in the last year of the study period. The percentage of cases with late diagnosis had remained stable in the study period (between 46% and 50%), and a decrease in this percentage was observed after correcting for reporting delay.
Conclusions: The epidemiological surveillance of HIV suffered a significant reporting delay. A decrease in cases diagnosed is confirmed, partly due to lockdown and lack of access to the health system. Changes on late diagnosis is not observed.
