Abstract Three new species of ascothoracidan crustaceans, Dendrogaster danni sp. nov., Dendrogaster tanabensis sp. nov., and Dendrogaster jinshomaruae sp. nov. are described from the sea around the Kii Peninsula on the Pacific coast of central Japan. They are found in the coelomic cavities of the sea stars, Neoferdina japonica Oguro & Misaki, 1986., Henricia sp., and Coronaster volsellatus (Sladen, 1889), respectively. Morphological examinations and DNA barcoding analyses of these new species are reported in this study. The emergence of Dendrogaster from their host sea stars is also noted. These findings represent the 11th to 13th species of Dendrogaster that infest Japanese sea stars.

Abstract Objective: To clarify the reproductive outcomes of women who underwent abdominal repair surgery for cesarean scar defect (CSD).
Study design: This is a retrospective observational study performed in a tertiary center. We retrospectively reviewed 20 women who underwent abdominal repair between 2007 and 2021. The indication for the repair was a minimal residual myometrial thickness (RMT) of ≦3.0 mm. We investigated surgical complications, changes in minimal RMT before and three-months after the repair, and reproductive outcomes.
Results: The median age at the time of repair was 36 years (27-40), with a median body mass index of 21.0 (17.7-28.7) and a median of 1 prior cesarean section (1-5). Twelve women reported secondary infertility, while eight women were concerned about the potential risk of uterine rupture in future pregnancies due to thin RMT. Additionally, one woman had a co-existing vesicouterine fistula, two had abscess and hematoma formation at the precedent cesarean section, and three showed remarkable dehiscence of the defect. The median minimal RMT significantly increased to 5.05 mm (range; 2.5-14.2 mm) after the repair. Seven women had a total of eight live births, with a median duration from the repair to a live-birth pregnancy of 11.5 months (range; 4-20 months). No surgical complications occurred during the repair, and there were no instances of uterine rupture in subsequent pregnancies. However, one woman who became pregnant with twins following double blastocyst transfer required a cesarean section at 25 weeks of pregnancy due to bulging towards the bladder side of the repaired CSD.
Conclusion: Abdominal repair for CSD is feasible in women with thin RMT who experience secondary infertility. Twin pregnancies can promote thinning of the CSD repair site, potentially increasing the risk of uterine rupture.

Abstract On-body device position awareness plays an important role in providing smartphone-based services with high levels of usability and quality. Traditionally, the problem assumed that the positions that were supported by the system were fixed at the time of design. Thus, if a user stores his/her terminal into an unsupported position, the system forcibly classifies it into one of the supported positions. In contrast, we propose a framework to discover new positions that are not initially supported by the system, which adds them as recognition targets via labeling by a user and re-training on-the-fly. In this article, we focus on a component of identifying a set of samples that are derived from a single storing position, which we call new position candidate identification. Clustering is applied as a key component to prepare a reliable dataset for re-training and to reduce the user's burden of labeling. Specifically, density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) is employed because it does not require the number of clusters in advance. We propose a method of finding an optimal value of a main parameter, Eps-neighborhood (

Abstract Objectives: This study evaluated the relationship between status of oral function and related long-term care service costs.
Design: This was a prospective 6-year follow-up study of previous survey data.
Setting: The data were obtained from the Japan Gerontological Evaluation Study conducted between 2010 and 2011.
Participants: The participants were functionally independent older adults in 12 municipalities across Japan.
Interventions: Care service benefit costs were tracked over 6 years using publicly available claims records (n=46 616) to monitor respondents' cumulative care costs.
Primary and secondary outcome measures: The primary outcome variable was the cumulative cost of long-term care insurance services during the follow-up period. We adjusted for the presence or absence of oral function problems, age, sex, physical function and socioeconomic and lifestyle background at the time of the baseline survey.
Results: Tobit analysis revealed that, compared with those with no oral function problems, cumulative long-term care service benefit costs for those with one, two or three oral function problems were approximately US$4020, US$4775 and US$82 92, respectively, over 6 years. Compared with those with maintained oral function, there was a maximum difference of approximately US$8292 in long-term care service costs for those with oral function problems. With increase in number of oral function problems, there was a concomitant elevation in the cost of long-term care.
Conclusions: Oral function in older people was associated with cumulative long-term care insurance costs. The oral function of older people should be maintained to reduce future accumulated long-term care insurance costs. Compared with those with maintained oral function, there was a maximum difference of approximately US$8292 in long-term care service costs for those with oral function problems. The cost of long-term care was amplified as oral problems increased.
