Abstract Guignardones Y-Z (1-2), two new meroterpenoids, and six known metabolites involving guignardones A-H (3-4), gyorgy-isoflavone (5), daidzein (6), blumenol A (7) and guignardianone A (8) were isolated from the fungus Penicillium sp. NBUF154, which was obtained from a 60 m deep Crella sponge. Their structures including absolute configurations were unambiguously elucidated by exhaustive spectroscopic analysis and ECD calculations. A putative biosynthetic pathway toward guignardones (1-4) is here proposed. Biological evaluation of compounds 1-8 showed that 1 and 7 exert potent inhibitory effects towards human enterovirus 71 (EV71).

Abstract In this work, (1 - x)(K0.48Na0.52)(Nb(0.95-y-z)Ta(z)Sb(y))O3-xBi0.5(Na0.82K0.18)0.5ZrO3, {abbreviation: KNNST-BNKZ-x-y-z} lead-free piezoceramics were prepared by a conventional solid-state reaction method, and the composition dependence of their phase structures and electrical properties was systematically discussed. Doping with Sb(5+), Ta(5+), and BNKZ plays an important role on the phase boundaries as well as piezoelectric activity. A three-phase coexistence involving rhombohedral-orthorhombic-tetragonal (R-O-T) phases was observed in the ceramics with 0.0325 ≤ x ≤ 0.05, 0.035 ≤ x ≤ 0.065, 0.05 ≤ z ≤ 0.08, indicating that doping with BNKZ, Ta(5+), and Sb(5+) can induce the formation of such a phase boundary by simultaneously increasing TR-O and decreasing TO-T. Enhanced piezoelectric behavior was observed in the ceramics located in the composition region of the R-O-T phase boundary, and a high d33 value of 400 pC N(-1) can be attained by refining their compositions (e.g., x = 0.0325, y = 0.035, and z = 0.05), together with a high TC value of ∼240 °C. Of particular interest is that a large electric field-induced strain of 0.18% (Smax/Emax = 706 pm V(-1)) was also found in the ceramics with x = 0.0325, y = 0.035, and z = 0.05 under a low electric field of 2.5 kV mm(-1). As a result, the piezoelectric activity as well as the strain can be operated in the material system by refining x, y, and z content.

Abstract Simultaneous oxidation of Hg0 and NH3-SCR of NO by catalyst is one of the key methods for co-purification of coal-fired flue gas. Till now, the interaction between the oxidation of Hg0 and NH3-SCR of NO and its mechanism have not clarified. In this study, a series of nanophase Ce x Zr y Mn z O2 was prepared for the simultaneous oxidation of Hg0 and NH3-SCR of NO at low temperature. The catalysts were characterized using surface area analysis, X-ray diffraction, temperature-programmed techniques, and several types of microscopy and spectroscopy. The experimental results indicated that the Ce0.47Zr0.22Mn0.31O2 exhibited superior Hg0 removal efficiency (> 99%) and NO conversion efficiency (> 90%) even at 150 °C, and it also exhibited a good durability in the presence of SO2 and H2O. The excellent performance of Ce0.47Zr0.22Mn0.31O2 on co-purifying Hg0 and NO was due to the stronger synergistic effects of Ce-Zr-Mn in Ce0.47Zr0.22Mn0.31O2 than that of the others, which was illustrated by the characterization results of XPS, XRD, and FT-IR. Moreover, it was found that the NO conversion of Ce0.47Zr0.22Mn0.31O2 could be slightly influenced by Hg0 and was decreased about 4% to the max, while that of Hg0 could rarely be affected by the selected catalytic reduction process of NO. It might be due to the co-purification mechanism of NO and Hg0. The mechanism of the simultaneous oxidation of Hg0 and NH3-SCR of NO was mainly due to the synergetic effect on the mobility of surface oxygen and the activation of lattice oxygen of Ce0.47Zr0.22Mn0.31O2. The effect of the oxidation of Hg0 on the NH3-SCR of NO was mainly due to the absorbed Hg0/Hg2+ on the surface of Ce0.47Zr0.22Mn0.31O2, which attenuated the formation of NH3(ad), −NH2(ad), and NH4+ on its acid sites. Similarly, the NH3-SCR of NO process could hardly influence the oxidation of Hg0 when NO and Hg0 were co-purified.

Abstract: A series of red phosphors with the composition Na(z)Ca(1-x-2y-z), Bi(y) MoO4 : Eu(x+y)3+ (y, z = 0 ... y = 0.04, z = 0.38) were prepared via traditional solid-state method. Abstract A series of red phosphors with the composition Na(z)Ca(1-x-2y-z), Bi(y) MoO4 : Eu(x+y)3+ (y, z = 0, x = 0.24, 0.26, 0.30, 0.34, 0.38; x = 0.30, y = 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.03, 0.05, 0.06, 0.07; x = 0.30, y = 0.04, z = 0.38) were prepared via traditional solid-state method. The crystal structures of the obtained phosphors were identified by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) method. The photoluminescence properties of the samples were characterized by fluorescence spectrophotometer. The results indicated that the concentration of Eu3+ single doped Ca(1-x) MoO4 : Eu3+ with the maximum luminescence intensity was found to be 0.30 (namely, Ca0.70 MoO4 : Eu(0.30)3+); the photoluminescence properties with different ratio of Bi3+/Eu3+ codoped Ca0.70-2y Bi(y) MoO4 : Eu(0.30+y)3+, were also investigated, and the results showed that the charge band (CTB) reached the maximum value when the y value was equal to 0.03; for the characteristic excitation peaks of Eu3+, however, the intensity of the excitation spectral line locating at 393 nm was stronger than that at 464 nm when y < 0.03, while the intensity at 464 nm was greater than that at 393 nm when y > or = 0.03; the intensity of excitation peaks locating at 393 and 464 nm respectively both reached the maximum intensity when the y value was 0.04. The relative intensity of the excitation and emission of the above phosphor was enhanced greatly when Na2CO3 acting as charge compensation was added. The above results showed that the relative intensity between 393 and 464 nm could be changed by adjusting the ratio of Bi3+ /Eu3+ codoping concentrations.

Abstract Lilium brownii F.E.Br. ex Miellez var. giganteum G. Y. Li & Z. H. Chen, an endangered valuable genetic resource, was used to establish and optimize a callus propagation system and to investigate the effects of internal and external phytohormones for the purpose of germplasm conservation. Of the combinations and concentrations of auxins and cytokinins examined, Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 8 g L⁻¹ agar, 30 g L⁻¹ sucrose, 0.45 μM 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, 2.69 to 5.37 μM α-naphthaleneacetic acid, and 0.44 μM 6-benzyladenine, 0.45 μM thidiazuron, and 0.28 μM zeatin riboside generated the best results, effectively promoting callus proliferation. Four callus types could be discriminated, of which type A (yellowish, granular) and type B (yellow, medium-granular) were dry, friable, and grew well. Periodic acid-Schiff staining revealed small and regular cells, with numerous starch granules surrounding each nucleus. In culture, callus clumps produced an average of 14.33 shoots under “MS + 7-d-dark–light” treatment with 100% regeneration frequency. Bulblets formed within 60 d after shoot transfer to bulblet formation medium. Type A and B callus was likely to be embryogenic, according to morphology, cytology, and high shoot regenerating capacity. Examination of endogenous phytohormone levels showed that the abscisic acid to indole-3-acetic acid (ABA/IAA) ratio gradually increased with increasing diameter of callus clumps treated with all exogenous phytohormones, except zeatin riboside, leading to the hypothesis that callus induction competence was closely associated with endogenous ABA/IAA ratio. This first report should assist further genetic studies of this rare Lilium and other bulbous plants.

Abstract The isospin violation process $Y(4260) \to J/\psi \eta \pi^{0}$ is studied assuming that $Y(4260)$ is a $D_{1} \bar{D}+c.c.$ hadronic molecule. In association with the production of the $Z_c(3900)$, which is treated as a $D \bar{D}^{*}+c.c.$ hadronic molecule, this process can help us distinguish their molecular natures from other scenarios, since the incomplete cancellation between the charged and neutral--meson loops, which are prominent in the molecular picture only, produces a peak in the $e^+e^-\to Y(4260)\to J/\psi\eta\pi^0$ cross section at the $D_{1} \bar{D}+c.c.$ threshold and a very prominent peak in the $J/\psi \eta$ invariant mass spectrum in between the $D \bar{D}^{*}+c.c.$ thresholds; the latter being much narrower than the corresponding one in the isospin conserving channel, i.e. $J/\psi \pi^+ \pi^{-}$. The partial width of $Y(4260)\to J/\psi\eta\pi^0$ is about $4 \times 10^{-4}$ of that of $Y(4260)\to J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-$. The cross section of $e^+e^-\to Y(4260)\to J/\psi\eta\pi^0$ at the $D_{1} \bar{D}+c.c.$ threshold is about $0.05 \ \mathrm{pb}$ which is much larger than that produced by the nearby resonances. These features are the direct consequences of the assumed nature of these two states which might be accessible at the high-statistics experiments such as BESIII and LHCb.

Abstract Tha A alpha locus of the basidiomycete fungus, Schizophyllum commune, regulates sexual development via proteins Y and Z. Each A alpha mating type encodes unique Y and Z isoforms. We used two isoforms of Y (Y4 and Y5) and two isoforms of Z (Z4 and Z5) in affinity assays of protein binding. These assays identified two types of protein interactions. Each full-length Y or Z protein binds to itself and other Y or Z proteins regardless of the A alpha mating type from which they are encoded (i.e., mating-type independent binding). A second type of binding, detected with partial-length polypeptides, occurs only between N-terminal regions of Y and Z proteins encoded from different A alpha mating types (e.g., Y4Z5 or Y5Z4); we refer to this binding as mating-type dependent binding. Deletion analysis shows that the Y4 specificity domain (an N-terminal region conferring recognition uniqueness to the Y4 isoform) is essential for mating-type dependent binding. Other regions of Y and Z are involved in mating-type independent binding. These results, obtained in vitro, raise the possibility that either of several protein complexes composed of Y and/or Z proteins may occur in vivo.

Abstract The A alpha mating locus of the woodrotting fungus Schizophyllum commune encodes two multiallelic genes, Y and Z, which regulate the A-pathway of development. The Y alleles contain a homeobox, suggesting that the Y proteins may be DNA-binding regulatory proteins. During mating, development is induced when Y from one mating partner interacts with Z from the other mating partner; self combinations of Y and Z are inactive. Two-hybrid analyses indicate that nonself combinations of Y and Z form heteromultimers and self combinations do not. To understand Y-Z binding and self-nonself recognition further we used mutagenesis and chimeras to identify regions in one allele of Z(Z5) that are involved in these processes. Here we report the results, which broadly define regions in Z5 that are essential for activity, Y-Z binding and Z5 allelic specificity.
