Abstract A design method for ultrahigh-Q microring resonators (MRRs) based on Bezier free-form curves was proposed and demonstrated. An MRR consisting of a specially designed 180° waveguide bend, a directional coupler, and two low-loss multi-mode strip waveguides was designed. The free-form curves were used to increase the degree of freedom in the design, shaping the waveguide bend with a gradient width and curvature. This design effectively reduced the propagation loss caused by the roughness of waveguide sidewalls and the mode mismatch loss caused by the excitation of high order modes. The small effective radius of only 20µm enabled the MRR to have a large free spectral range (FSR) and a compact and flexible structure. The MRR was manufactured using a standard process provided by foundry and measured to have an ultrahigh loaded Q factor of 1.86 × 10

Abstract Q-balls are nontopological solitons that coherently rotate in field space. We show that these coherent rotations can induce superradiance for scattering waves, thanks to the fact that the scattering involves two coupled modes. Despite the conservation of the particle number in the scattering, the mismatch between the frequencies of the two modes allows for the enhancement of the energy and angular momentum of incident waves. When the Q-ball spins in real space, additional rotational superradiance is also possible, which can further boost the enhancements. We identify the criteria for the energy and angular momentum superradiance to occur.

Abstract Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) represents a critical health concern due to its potential to lead to pulmonary embolism, a life-threatening complication. Early identification and prediction of DVT are crucial to prevent thromboembolic events and implement timely prophylactic measures in high-risk individuals. This study aims to examine the risk determinants associated with acute lower extremity DVT in hospitalized individuals. Additionally, it introduces an innovative approach by integrating Q-learning augmented colony predation search ant colony optimizer (QL-CPSACO) into the analysis. This algorithm, then combined with support vector machines (SVM), forms a bQL-CPSACO-SVM feature selection model dedicated to crafting a clinical risk prognostication model for DVT. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm's optimization and the model's accuracy are assessed through experiments utilizing the CEC 2017 benchmark functions and predictive analyses on the DVT dataset. The experimental results reveal that the proposed model achieves an outstanding accuracy of 95.90% in predicting DVT. Key parameters such as D-dimer, normal plasma prothrombin time, prothrombin percentage activity, age, previously documented DVT, leukocyte count, and thrombocyte count demonstrate significant value in the prognostication of DVT. The proposed method provides a basis for risk assessment at the time of patient admission and offers substantial guidance to physicians in making therapeutic decisions.

Abstract Photon pairs generated by employing spontaneous nonlinear effects in microresonators are critically essential for integrated optical quantum information technologies, such as quantum computation and quantum cryptography. Microresonators featuring high-quality (Q) factors can offer simple yet power-efficient means to generate photon pairs, thanks to the intracavity field enhancement. In microresonators, it is known that the photon-pair generation rate (PGR) is roughly proportional to the cubic power of the Q factor. However, the upper limit on PGR is also set by the Q factor: a higher Q factor brings a longer photon lifetime, which in turn leads to a lower repetition rate allowing for photon flow emitted from the microresonator, constrained by the Fourier-transform limit. Exceeding this limit will result in the overlap of photon wave packets in the time domain, thus degrading the quantum character of single-photon light beams. To push the limit of PGR in a single resonator, we propose a method by harnessing the resonance linewidth-manipulated microresonators to improve the maximum achievable photon repetition rate while keeping the power efficiency. The maximum achievable PGR and power efficiency are thus balanced by leveraging the combination of low and high-Q resonances.

Abstract Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the main cause of end-stage renal disease worldwide and a major public issue affecting the health of people. Therefore, it is essential to explore effective drugs for the treatment of DN. In this study, the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula, Zhijun Tangshen Decoction (ZJTSD), a prescription modified from the classical formula Didang Decoction, has been used in the clinical treatment of DN. However, the chemical basis underlying the therapeutic effects of ZJTSD in treating DN remains unknown. In this study, compounds of ZJTSD and serum after oral administration in rats were identified and analyzed using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q/TOF-MS). Meanwhile, a semi-quantitative approach was used to analyze the dynamic changes in the compounds of ZJTSD

Abstract Objective: This study introduced the modified Q-type purse-string suture duodenal stump embedding method, a convenient way to strengthen the duodenum, and compared it to the conventional one to assess its efficacy and safety.
Methods: This retrospective analysis examined 612 patients who received laparoscopic gastrectomy for gastric Cancer at a single center. The patients were divided into Not Reinforced Group (n = 205) and Reinforced Group (n = 407) according to the surgical approach to the duodenal stump. The reinforced group was further divided into a modified Q-type purse-string suture embedding method group (QM, n = 232) and a conventional suture duodenal stump embedding method group (CM, n = 175) according to the methods of duodenal stump enhancement. Clinicopathological characteristics, operative variables, and short-term complications were documented and analyzed.
Results: The incidence of duodenal stump leakage(DSL) in the Not Reinforced Group was higher compared to the Reinforced Group, although the difference was not statistically significant [2.4% (5/205) vs 0.7% (3/407), p = 0.339]. Additionally, the Not Reinforced Group exhibited a higher rate of Reoperation due to DSL compared to the Reinforced Group [2 (1.0%) vs. 0, p = 0.046], with one patient in the Not Reinforced Group experiencing mortality due to DSL [1 (0.5%) vs 0, p = 0.158]. Subgroup analysis within the Reinforced Group revealed that the modified Q-type purse-string suture embedding group (QM) subgroup demonstrated statistically significant advantages over the conventional suture embedding group (CM) subgroup. QM exhibited shorter purse-string closure times (4.11 ± 1.840 vs. 6.05 ± 1.577, p = 0.001), higher purse-string closure success rates (93.1% vs. 77.7%, p = 0.001), and greater satisfaction with purse-string closure [224 (96.6%) vs 157 (89.7%), p = 0.005]. No occurrences of duodenal stump leakage were observed in the QM subgroup, while the CM subgroup experienced two cases [2 (1.1%)], though the difference was not statistically significant. Both groups did not exhibit statistically significant differences in secondary surgery or mortality related to duodenal stump leakage.
Conclusion: Duodenal Stump Leakage (DSL) is a severe but low-incidence complication. There is no statistically significant relationship between the reinforcement of the duodenal stump and the incidence of DSL. However, laparoscopic reinforcement of the duodenal stump can reduce the severity of fistulas and the probability of Reoperation. The laparoscopic Q-type purse-string suture duodenal stump embedding method is a simple and effective technique that can, to some extent, shorten the operation time and enhance satisfaction with purse-string closure. There is a trend towards reducing the incidence of DSL, thereby improving patient prognosis to a certain extent.

Abstract High quality(Q) factor optical resonators are indispensable for many photonic devices. While very large Q-factors can be obtained theoretically in guided-mode settings, free-space implementations suffer from various limitations on the narrowest linewidth in real experiments. Here, we propose a simple strategy to enable ultrahigh-Q guided-mode resonances by introducing a patterned perturbation layer on top of a multilayer-waveguide system. We demonstrate that the associated Q-factors are inversely proportional to the perturbation squared while the resonant wavelength can be tuned through material or structural parameters. We experimentally demonstrate such high-Q resonances at telecom wavelengths by patterning a low-index layer on top of a 220 nm silicon on insulator substrate. The measurements show Q-factors up to 2.39 × 10

Abstract As a well-known classical Chinese medicine prescription, Shengxian Decoction (SXD) has been applied for a century to treat cardiovascular diseases, especially coronary heart disease (CHD), but the potentially effective compounds and underlying mechanisms remain unclear. With ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time of flight-mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS) and network pharmacology analysis, the potential effective compounds of SXD and their pharmacological mechanisms against CHD were identified and revealed. 57 effective compounds with favorable pharmacokinetic characteristics and biological activities were screened through UPLC-Q-TOF/MS analysis, database and literature mining, interacting with 96 CHD-related targets to support potential synergistic therapeutic actions. Systematic analysis of the PPI network and microarray data further revealed six core targets, including TNF, IL-1β, IL-6, TP53, VEGFA and PTGS2, which were mainly involved in fluid shear stress and atherosclerosis, lipid and atherosclerosis, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway et al. Moreover, the proposed contribution indexes of effective compounds indicated these compounds, including isoferulic acid, quercetin, calycosin, ferulic acid, kaempferol, calycosin 7-
