    Abstract Magnetotactic bacteria intracellularly biomineralize magnetite of an ideal grain size for recording palaeomagnetic signals. However, bacterial magnetite has only been reported in a few pre-Quaternary records because progressive burial into anoxic diagenetic environments causes its dissolution. Deep-sea carbonate sequences provide optimal environments for preserving bacterial magnetite due to low rates of organic carbon burial and expanded pore-water redox zonations. Such sequences often do not become anoxic for tens to hundreds of metres below the seafloor. Nevertheless, the biogeochemical factors that control magnetotactic bacterial populations in such settings are not well known. We document the preservation of bacterial magnetite, which dominates the palaeomagnetic signal throughout Eocene pelagic carbonates from the southern Kerguelen Plateau, Southern Ocean. We provide evidence that iron fertilization, associated with increased aeolian dust flux, resulted in surface water eutrophication in the late Eocene that controlled bacterial magnetite abundance via export of organic carbon to the seafloor. Increased flux of aeolian iron-bearing phases also delivered iron to the seafloor, some of which became bioavailable through iron reduction. Our results suggest that magnetotactic bacterial populations in pelagic settings depend crucially on particulate iron and organic carbon delivery to the seafloor.

    Abstract Background: Workplace violence is one of the most serious public health issues worldwide in healthcare occupations, nurse is a profession which faces the greatest risk of exposure to workplace violence among healthcare occupations.
    Objective: The present study aimed to explore the relationship between workplace psychological violence and empathy among Chinese nurses, and further examine the mediation role of resilience in this relationship.
    Method: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among a convenience sample of clinical registered nurses in Xinjiang China from 29 September 2023 to 19 October 2023.The online questionnaire, contained the general information form, the Workplace Psychologically Violent Behaviors Instrument, the Jefferson Scale of Empathy-Healthcare Professionals Version, and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, was used to collect data. The IBM SPSS statistics software version 22.0 was used to perform data analyses in forms of descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and mediation analysis.
    Result: This survey recruited a convenience sample of 1613 clinical registered nurses aged 22 to 55 years who come from diverse ethnicities and worked in different departments. A total of 534 nurse experienced psychological violent, which yielded a positive rate of 33.1% for psychological violent among nurses. Pearson analysis reported a negative correlation between psychological violences and empathy (r=-0.724, P < 0.01) as well as a negative correlation between psychological violences and resilience (r=-0.681, P < 0.01). Mediation analysis reported that resilience mediated the negative relationship between psychological violence and empathy, the mediation effect accounted for ab/(ab + c') = 23.40% of the total effect.
    Conclusion: This study supported an inverse ralationship between psychological violence and empathy among Chinese nurses where resilience acted as a protective factor to mediated the negative impacts of psychological violences on empathy These results directed health policies and clinical interventions to equip nurses with resilience to copy with and recover from workplace psychological violence.

    Abstract With a growing number of research reports on microplastics (MPs), there is increasing concern regarding MPs-induced contamination in soil ecological systems. Notwithstanding, the interaction between the plastisphere and rhizosphere microbial hotspots in soil-plant systems, as well as the diversity and composition of plastisphere microbial communities in such systems, remain largely unexplored. This study evaluated the response of rhizosphere bacterial communities to MPs at three growth stages of pepper and examined the bacterial communities present on MPs (plastisphere). The 16 S rRNA revealed that, under the stress of MPs, the Chao1 and Shannon index of the pepper soil bacterial community decreased. Meanwhile the relative abundance of Actinobacteriota was decreased, and that of Proteobacteria was increased. Furthermore, the plastisphere serves as a unique microbial habitat (niche) that recruits the colonization of specific bacterial groups, including potential plastic-degrading bacteria and potential pathogens (e.g., Massilia and Pseudomonas). Simultaneously, the plastisphere recruits specific bacteria that may impact the rhizosphere soil bacterial communities, thus indirectly affecting plant growth. Functional prediction using PICRUSt2 revealed higher activity in the plastisphere for Metabolism of terpenoids and polyketides, Human diseases, and Xenobiotics biodegradation and metabolism. Notably, the human diseases metabolic pathway exhibited increased activity, suggesting potential ecological risks associated with pathogens. These results highlighted that the plastisphere serves as a unique microbial habitat (niche) in the soil ecological systems, recruiting specific bacteria and potentially interfering with the surrounding soil microbial community, thereby influencing the functional characteristics of the soil ecological systems.

    Abstract Background: According to previous research, 2.8% of lesions clinically identified as endodontic pathosis were ultimately diagnosed as non-endodontic periapical lesions via histopathology, and 3.7% of these non-endodontic periapical lesions were malignant neoplasms. Rhabdomyosarcoma, a malignant tumor most commonly observed in children, is uncommon in the oral cavity.
    Case presentation: This is a report of a rare case of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in a 41-year-old female, in which the lesion was in the maxillary gingiva. The biopsy reports confirmed the diagnosis of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma. The wide excision of the tumor, free flap reconstruction, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy were performed. Clinical, radiological, and histopathological and management aspects of the neoplasm were also discussed.
    Conclusions: This case report aimed to create awareness that rhabdomyosarcoma is one of the differential diagnoses of periapical lesions.
