Abstract: ... layer-core-shell discoidal model can be employed to best fit the extended-q small angle X-ray scattering ...

Abstract The internal profile across the bilayer reveals important structural information regarding the crystallinity of acyl chains or the positions of encapsulated species. Here, we demonstrate that a simple five-layer-core-shell discoidal model can be employed to best fit the extended-q small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) data and resolve the bilayer internal structure (with sub-nanometer resolution) of a nanoscale discoidal system comprised of a mixture of long- and short- chain lipids (known as "bicelles"). In contrast to the traditional core-shell discoidal model, the detailed structure in the hydrophobic core such as the methylene and methyl groups can be distinguished via this model. The refined model is validated by the SAXS data of bicelles whose electron scattering length density of the hydrophobic core is adjusted by the addition of a long-chain lipid with a fluorine-end group. The higher resolution of the bilayer internal structure can be employed to advance our understanding of the interaction and conformation of the membrane and associated molecules, such as membrane-associated proteins and locations of entrapped species in the lipid nanoparticles.

Abstract In this paper, the x-ray emissions are measured by the interaction of 1500-3500 keV Xe(q+) (q = 12, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 26 and 29) ions with Zn target. When q < 29, we observe Ll, Lα, Lβ1, Lβ2 and Lγ characteristic x-rays from Xe(q+) ions and a broad M-shell molecular orbital (MO) x-ray band from the transient quasi-molecular levels. It is found that their yields quickly increase with different rates as the incident energy increases. Besides, the widths of the broad MO x-ray bands are about 0.9-1.32 keV over the energy range studied and are proportional to v(1/2) (v = projectile velocity). Most remarkably, when the projectile charge state is 29, the broad x-ray band separates into several narrow discrete spectra, which was never observed before in this field.

Abstract We demonstrated the 1.33 microm laser performance with Nd:Gd(3)Al(x)Ga(5-x)O(12) (x = 0.94) (Nd:GAGG) laser crystals for the first time. Continuous-wave (cw) output power of 2.45 W was obtained with the optical-optical conversion efficiency of 21.8% and slope efficiency of 23.3%. In the passive Q-switching regime, the highest output power, the shortest pulse width, largest pulse energy and highest peak power were achieved to be 326 mW 18.2 ns, 36.3 microJ and 2.0 kW, respectively, with V(3+):YAG crystal as the saturable absorber.

Abstract A new structure function analysis of CCFR deep inelastic nu-N and nu-N scattering data is presented for previously unexplored kinematic regions down to Bjorken x = 0.0045 and Q(2) = 0.3 GeV(2). Comparisons to charged lepton scattering data from NMC and E665 experiments are made and the behavior of the structure function F(2)(nu)2 is studied in the limit Q(2)-->0.

Abstract The coronary artery as a responsible vessel for hemoptysis is very rare. This patient was admitted to the hospital with bronchiectasis and hemoptysis, and the right coronary artery was found to be one of the non-bronchial systemic arteries by computed tomography angiography, and the hemoptysis stopped immediately after successful embolization of all bronchial arteries and non-bronchial systemic arteries by bronchial artery embolization. However, the patient had a recurrence of a small amount of hemoptysis 1 month and 3 months after surgery. The patient underwent lobectomy of the lesion after multidisciplinary discussion and did not have any hemoptysis after surgery.

Abstract Aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD) is a clinical syndrome characterized by chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, asthma and the development of significant airway symptoms following the ingestion of aspirin and other nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). At present, aspirin challenge is the gold standard for diagnosis. Aspirin desensitization and aspirin therapy after desensitization (ATAD) is one of the classical therapies. This paper described the application of aspirin desensitization and ATAD in AERD and provided the reference for the comprehensive treatment of AERD.
