Abstract A convenient, efficient, and green dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction based on the in situ formation of solidified supramolecular solvents combined with high performance liquid chromatography was developed for the determination of four phenylurea herbicides in liquid samples, including monuron, monolinuron, isoproturon, and chlortoluron. Herein, a novel supramolecular solvent was prepared by the in situ reaction of [P

Abstract Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the correlation between tumor proportionality scores (TPS) and the effectiveness of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) as the second or subsequent line therapies for individuals who received diagnoses of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: The retrospective analysis was conducted on the medical records of a total of 143 patients who received diagnoses of stage IIIB/IV NSCLC and were admitted to our hospital from the beginning of 2019 to the end of September 2022. The follow-up period ended on 01 January 2023. The study used Kaplan-Meier survival curves to assess the progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) of patients. Univariate and multivariate Cox proportional risk models were used to analyze the factors associated with the PFS and OS of advanced-stage NSCLC patients who received ICIs as the second or subsequent lines.
Results: Patients diagnosed with NSCLC who had a TPS ≥1% and got treatment with ICIs exhibit notably elevated rates of partial response, objective response rate, disease control rate and extended PFS in comparison to NSCLC patients with a TPS of <1% (P < 0.05). NSCLC patients with TPS within 1-49% [hazard ratio (HR) = 0.372; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.140-0.993; P = 0.048] or ≥50% (HR = 0.276; 95% CI, 0.095-0.796; P = 0.017) were significantly associated with prolonged PFS, which were conducted by multivariate Cox regression analysis.
Conclusion: Programmed death protein-1 expression status may be predictive markers of the effectiveness of ICIs as the second or subsequent lines of therapies in advanced NSCLC are influenced by TPS.

Abstract As a simple and convenient technology to fabricate micron-to-nanoscale fibers with controllable structure, electrostatic spinning has produced fiber films with many natural advantages, including a large specific surface area and high porosity. Maize zein, as a major storage protein in corn, showed high hydrophobicity and has been successfully applied as a promising carrier for encapsulation and controlled release in the pharmaceutical and food areas. Proteins exhibit different physical and chemical properties at different pH values, and it is worth investigating whether this change in physical and chemical properties affects the properties of electrospun fiber films. We studied the pH effects on zein solution rheology, fiber morphology, and film properties. Rotational rheometers were used to test the rheology of the solutions and establish a correlation between solution concentration and fiber morphology. The critical concentrations calculated by the cross-equation fitting model were 17.6%, 20.1%, 20.1%, 17.1%, and 19.5% (

Abstract NHC-catalyzed diastereoselective and enantioselective [12 + 2] higher-order cycloadditions of 5H-benzo[a]-pyrrolizine-3-carbaldehydes with cyclic sulfonic imines are described. Various optically pure polycyclic piperazin-2-ones were successfully constructed under mild reaction conditions with excellent diastereoselectivities and enantioselectivities. The generated chiral polycyclic piperazin-2-ones could be transformed to planar-chiral nine-membered cyclic amides via squaramide-catalyzed asymmetric ring-expansion reactions.

Abstract Social insects maintain hygienic conditions through their social immunity behaviors. Among these behaviors, burial behavior of termites is central for protecting healthy individuals from corpses. Many factors trigger burial behavior, and it is generally believed that chemicals released by corpses, such as oleic acid, are the most important cues for triggering burial behavior in termites. However, the contribution of the olfactory system to this behavior remains unclear. Here we report an odorant binding protein (OBP) that transports oleic acid and triggers burial behavior in Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki. We demonstrated that CforOBP7 is highly expressed in the antennae of workers. Fluorescent competition binding experiments exhibited that CforOBP7 has a strong affinity for oleic acid. Furthermore, the antennal response to oleic acid was significantly reduced, and oleic acid-triggered burial behavior was also inhibited in CforOBP7-silenced termites. We conclude that CforOBP7 governs the burial behavior of C. formosanus triggered by oleic acid.

Abstract Cirque morphology is used to reflect the patterns of paleoclimate, paleoglaciation, and landscape evolution. Cirque study has been conducted in the Gangdise Mountains of the southern Tibetan Plateau (TP) and the central TP (dominated by a weak Indian summer monsoon (ISM) or a continental climate). This study focused on the cirques in the southeastern TP, which is dominated by a strong ISM, to analyse the controlling factors on cirque morphology. A total of 361 cirques were mapped in the Taniantaweng Range of the southeastern TP, and their metrics were calculated. The results showed that the cirque sizes increased with temperature and decreased with precipitation, which may be due to the development of valley-type glaciers and the effect of non-climatic factors. The cirques tended to face NE, implying that they prefer leeward slopes, and they were under the 'morning-afternoon' effect. With altitude, the tendency of the cirque aspect shifted from N to SE, and the cirque size decreased. The former may indicate the ability of the high altitude to support cirque development on climatically unfavourable slopes; the latter may be due to the development of valley-type glaciers or insufficient space for cirque development. The cirque size and shape did not show statistical differences between aspects. The cirques on soft bedrocks had larger heights than those on hard bedrocks, indicating that soft bedrocks promote subglacial erosion. A comparison with the results of the western, central, and eastern sectors of the Gangdise Mountains and the central TP reveals that the strength of the ISM did not necessarily increase the cirque density but limited the cirque size on a regional scale. The CFA did not show a reverse relationship with precipitation, but it showed a positive correlation with the cirque Z
