Abstract Remote sensing image segmentation is a specific task of remote sensing image interpretation. A good remote sensing image segmentation algorithm can provide guidance for environmental protection, agricultural production, and urban construction. This paper proposes a new type of UNet image segmentation algorithm based on channel self attention mechanism and residual connection called . In my experiment, the new network model improved mIOU by 2.48% compared to traditional UNet on the FoodNet dataset. The image segmentation algorithm proposed in this article enhances the internal connections between different items in the image, thus achieving better segmentation results for remote sensing images with occlusion.

Abstract The environmental agenda is decisive in the formation of the world economy at the present stage. The need for a green transition is rarely questioned by scientists. However, there remains a wide range of opinions about which instruments are the most effective in achieving the set goals of reducing the carbon footprint. The most popular mechanisms today are the carbon market and carbon tax mechanisms. Aim of the research was using modeling, literature analysis, and deduction methods to compare the similarities and differences between the basic principles of applying a carbon tax and a carbon market mechanism, the authors of the article identify the advantages and disadvantages of both approaches. The results of the research showed that the carbon market mechanism has obvious advantages such as flexibility, cross-industry and crossterritory coverage, and relative benefits for companies compared to a carbon tax mechanism. At the same time, the carbon tax mechanism has the obvious advantage of low management costs and wide coverage, but, on the other hand, these advantages are offset by potential inefficiencies and high “cost” for companies. The analysis of the policies of large countries with large carbon emissions over the past 2-3 years shows that they are more likely to introduce elements of the carbon market to reduce emissions. Based on the theoretical analysis of the main characteristics of the carbon market and carbon tax, as well as their advantages and disadvantages, the authors urge not to be limited to one of the options, but to use both mechanisms simultaneously. In particular, the carbon market should be the main mechanism when the goal is to create more incentives to actively reduce carbon emissions, while carbon tax policies can be an additional measure to incentivize or “punish” those enterprises that exceed emission standards, also, the carbon tax will help to involve those industries that, for various reasons, cannot be represented on the carbon market.

Abstract The zero-velocity update (ZUPT) algorithm is a pivotal advancement in pedestrian navigation accuracy, utilizing foot-mounted inertial sensors. Its key issue hinges on accurately identifying periods of zero-velocity during human movement. This paper introduces an innovative adaptive sliding window technique, leveraging the Fourier Transform to precisely isolate the pedestrian's gait frequency from spectral data. Building on this, the algorithm adaptively adjusts the zero-velocity detection threshold in accordance with the identified gait frequency. This adaptation significantly refines the accuracy in detecting zero-velocity intervals. Experimental evaluations reveal that this method outperforms traditional fixed-threshold approaches by enhancing precision and minimizing false positives. Experiments on single-step estimation show the adaptability of the algorithm to motion states such as slow, fast, and running. Additionally, the paper demonstrates pedestrian trajectory localization experiments under a variety of walking conditions. These tests confirm that the proposed method substantially improves the performance of the ZUPT algorithm, highlighting its potential for pedestrian navigation systems.

Abstract Cuproptosis, a recently identified non-apoptotic programmed cell death modality, attracts considerable attention in the realm of cancer therapeutics owing to its unique cellular demise mechanisms. Since its initial report in 2022, strategies inducing or amplifying cuproptosis for cancer treatment emerge. The engineering of nano-systems to elicit cuproptosis effectively circumvents constraints associated with conventional small-molecule pharmaceutical interventions, presenting novel prospects for oncological therapy. Stimulus-responsive nanomaterials, leveraging their distinctive spatiotemporal control attributes, are investigated for their role in modulating the induction or augmentation of cuproptosis. In this comprehensive review, the physiological characteristics of cuproptosis, encompassing facets such as copper overload and depletion, coupled with regulatory factors intrinsic to cuproptosis, are expounded upon. Subsequently, design methodologies for stimulus-responsive induction or enhancement of cuproptosis, employing stimuli such as light, ultrasound, X-ray, and the tumor microenvironment, are systematically delineated. This review encompasses intricacies in nanomaterial design, insights into the therapeutic processes, and the associated advantages. Finally, challenges inherent in stimulus-responsive induction/enhancement of cuproptosis are deliberated upon and prospective insights into the future trajectory of copper-mediated cancer therapy are provided.

Abstract Optical-induced shape transformation of single nanoparticles on substrates has shown benefits of simplicity and regularity for single-particle device fabrication and on-chip integration. However, most of the existing strategies are based on wet chemical growth and etching, which could lead to surface contamination with limited local selectivity and device compatibility. Shape deformation via the photothermal effect can overcome these issues but has limited versatility and tunability largely due to the high surface tension of the molten droplet. Here we show gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) can drastically transform into nanoplates under the irradiation of a continuous wave laser (446 nm). We reveal the dielectric thin film underneath the molten Au is critical in deforming the NP into faceted nanoplate under the drive of photothermophoretic forces, which is sufficient to counteract the surface tension of the molten droplet. Both experimental evidence and simulations support this thin-film-assisted photothermal deformation mechanism, which is local selective and generally applicable to differently shaped Au NPs. It provides a facile and robust strategy for single-plate-based device applications.
