Abstract Psoriasis is a complex and persistent autoimmune skin disease. The present research focused on the therapeutic evaluation of betulin-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers (BE-NLCs) towards managing psoriasis. The BE-NLCs were synthesized using the emulsification cum solidification method, exhibiting a spherical shape with a particle size of 183.5±1.82nm and a narrow size distribution window (PDI: 0.142±0.05). A high zeta potential -38.64±0.05mV signifies the relative stability of the nano-dispersion system. BE-NLCs show a drug loading and entrapment efficiency of 47.35±3.25% and 87.8±7.86%, respectively. In vitro release study, BE NLCs show a cumulative percentage release of 90.667±5.507% over BE-sol (57.334±5.03%) and BD-oint (42±4.58%) for 720min. In an ex vivo 24-h permeation study, % cumulative amount permeated per cm

Abstract Promotion of clean cooking fuel and technologies helps countries in achieving its sustainable development goals, thereby fulfilling environmental sustainability and empowering the status of women. Against this backdrop, the prime focus of this paper is to examine the impact of clean cooking fuels and technologies on overall greenhouse gas emissions. To do so, we draw data from BRICS nations since 2000-2016, employ the fixed-effect model, and show the robustness of the results by using Driscoll-Kraay standard error approach to address the panel data econometric issues. The empirical results show that energy use (LNEC), trade openness (LNTRADEOPEN), and urbanization (LNUP) promote emissions of greenhouse gases. Further, the finding also indicates that the use of clean cooking (LNCLCO) and foreign capital (FDI_NI) can help reduce the environmental degradation in achieving environmental sustainability in the BRICS nations. Overall findings endorse the development of clean energy at macro level, subsidizing and financing the clean cooking fuel and technologies, and promoting its usage at the household level to combat environmental degradation.

Abstract The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has disrupted not only clinical care but also medical education. Physical distancing and shift rearrangements for both trainees and faculty have led to abrupt cancelation of many in-person didactics. These have been replaced by distance learning options, which include both synchronous and asynchronous curricula. Unfortunately, many medical educators have been forced to quickly create distance-learning options for trainees with little prior experience. In this perspective, we review the evidence base for distance learning and discuss practical considerations for transitioning traditional in-person curricula to distance platforms. We review technical aspects of distance learning as well as educational principles essential for success. The goal is for medical educators to optimize distance learning not just during this COVID-19 pandemic but beyond this crisis as well.

Abstract Multidrug resistance episodes in malaria increased from 3.9% to 20% from 2015 to 2019. Synchronizing the clinical manifestation in chronological sequence led to a unique impression on glucose demand (increased up to 100-fold) by the parasite-infected RBCs. Hence, restriction in the glucose uptake to parasite-infected RBCs could be an alternative approach to conquer the global burden of malaria to a greater extent.
