Abstract Gallium-based liquid metals (LMs) and their alloys have gained prominence in the realm of flexible and stretchable electronics. Recent advances have expanded the interest to explore the electron-rich core and interface of LMs to synthesize various nanomaterials, where Ga-based LMs serve as versatile reaction media. In this paper, we delve into the latest developments within this burgeoning field. Our discussion begins by elucidating the unique attributes of LMs that render them suitable as reaction media, including their high metal solubility, low standard reduction potential, self-limiting oxidation and ultra-smooth and "layer" surface. We then provide a comprehensive categorized summary of utilizing these features to fabricate a variety of nanomaterials, including pure metallic materials (metal alloys, metal crystals, porous metals, high-entropy alloys and metallic single atoms), metal-inorganic compounds (2D metal oxides, 2D metallic inorganic compounds and 2D graphitic materials), as well as metal-organic composites (metal-organic frameworks). This paper concludes by discussing the current challenges in this field and exploring potential future directions. The versatility and unique properties of Ga-based LMs are poised to play a pivotal role in the future of nanomaterial science, paving the way for more efficient, sustainable, and innovative technological solutions.

Abstract Soft silicone is an ideal flexible material for application, e.g., in soft robotics, flexible electronics, bionics, or implantable biomedical devices. However, gravity-driven sagging, filament stretching, and deformation can cause inevitable defects during rapid manufacturing, making it hard to obtain complex, high-resolution 3D silicone structures with direct ink writing (DIW) technology. Here, rapid DIW of soft silicone enabled by a phase-change-induced, reversible change of the ink's hierarchical microstructure is presented. During printing, the silicone-based ink, containing silica nanoparticles and wax microparticles, is extruded from a heated nozzle into a cold environment under controlled stress. The wax phase change (solid-liquid-solid) during printing rapidly destroys and rebuilds the particle networks, realizing fast control of the ink flow behavior and printability. This high-operating-temperature DIW method is fast (maximum speed ≈3100 mm min

Abstract Magnetorheological dampers in the service of the medium in a project experience continuous thermal effects, frequent reciprocating shear and other complex conditions. Shear stability is an important indicator of the reliability of a magnetorheological media service. Magnetorheological grease (MRG) was prepared using hydroxy iron powder with a mass fraction of 30% and lithium grease of different consistency grades as a continuous phase. The results of magnetic and rheological properties analysis were combined to investigate the mechanism of the continuous thermal effect on the shear stability of MRG. The results show that changes in the temperature field and magnetic field cause significant changes in the magnetic and rheological properties of MRG. At low temperatures and low magnetic fields, the soap fiber structure unique to MRG can effectively inhibit the movement of magnetic particles, with slight changes in the rheological properties and excellent shear stability. When the temperature increases to 80 °C, 00#MRG is damaged by the high temperature. The soap fiber structure is fractured and reorganized, and the rheological properties change significantly. However, the rheological properties of 1#MRG remain largely unchanged during the magnetic field enhancement to saturation, showing better shear stability. The higher consistency continuous phase has excellent heat resistance and better shear performance stability in the face of thermomagnetic coupling conditions, but the fiber breakage caused by continuous reciprocating shear poses a challenge to the service stability of MRG.

Abstract The hydrogeochemical characteristics of coalbed water play a crucial role in assessing the production level of coalbed methane (CBM) due to its involvement in the entire process of CBM generation, migration, accumulation, and extraction. To investigate variations in hydrochemical characteristics and controlling factors among different coal seams, a representative CBM field (Baode block) within the Ordos basin in China was chosen as a target. We have systematically collected produced water samples from coal seams of the Permian Shanxi Formation (P

Abstract In this paper, a two-dimensional phased array antenna beamforming system based on mode diversity is demonstrated for the first time. The system uses few-mode long-period fiber gratings to excite different modes, and utilizes few-mode fiber Bragg gratings and 2 × 2 optical switches to control the propagation paths of optical signals, so as to realize the true time delay control of optical signals of different mode channels and complete the two-dimensional scanning of the beam. In order to prove the feasibility of the two-dimensional phased array antenna beamforming system based on mode diversity, we conduct experimental verification and performance testing of the system using optical switches to select the loop structures composed of the optical circulators. The far-field radiation patterns of 2 × 3 phased array antenna system of different frequencies are tested at different beam pointing angles. The experimental results are compared with the simulation results to demonstrate that the beam pointing angles have no squint. The beamforming system based on mode diversity takes modes as independent channels for the transmission of signals, and excites and processes signals of different modes in a single few-mode fiber core, which effectively reduces the volume and complexity of the optically controlled phased array radar system.

Abstract Head and neck cancer (HNC) is the seventh most prevalent cancer globally, often characterized by chemo-resistance and immunosuppression, which significantly hampers treatment efficacy. Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) has recently emerged as a promising adjuvant oncotherapy with substantial potential and advantages. In this study, Piezobrush® PZ2, a handheld CAP unit based on the piezoelectric direct discharge technology, was used to generate and deliver non-thermal plasma. We aimed to investigate the effects of CAPPZ2 on various types of HNC cells and elucidate the underlying mechanisms. In addition, we endeavored to examine the efficacy of combining CAPPZ2 with chemotherapy drugs (i.e., cisplatin) or immune checkpoint blockade (ICB, i.e., PD1 antibody) in HNC treatment. Firstly, the results demonstrated that CAPPZ2 exerted anti-neoplastic functions through inhibiting cell proliferation, migration and invasion, and promoting apoptosis and autophagy. Secondly, using transcriptomic sequencing, Western blotting, and quantitative real-time PCR, the mechanisms underlying CAPPZ2 treatment in vitro was presumed to be a multitargeted blockade of major cancer survival pathways, such as redox balance, glycolysis, and PI3K/AKT/mTOR/HIF-1α signaling. Lastly, combinatorial thearpy containing CAPPZ2 and cisplatin or PD-1 antibody significantly suppressed tumor growth and prolonged recipient survival in vivo. Collectively, the synergistic effects of CAPPZ2 and cisplatin or PD-1 antibody could serve as a promising solution to enhance head and neck tumor elimination.

Abstract Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with multifunctional and tunable optical properties have unique advantages in the field of sensing, and the structure and properties of MOFs are significantly influenced by the ligands. In this study, a Y-type tricarboxylic acid ligand containing amide bonds was synthesized through functional guidance, and three isomorphic and heterogeneous three-dimensional MOFs (Eu-MOF, Tb-MOF, and Gd-MOF) were obtained by solvothermal reaction. Further studies revealed that both the Tb-MOF and Eu-MOF could selectively detect picric acid (PA). The luminescence quenching of the two MOFs by PA was attributed to competing absorption and photoelectron energy transfer mechanisms. In addition, due to the energy transfer between Tb and Rhodamine B, Rhodamine B was encapsulated into Tb-MOF. The obtained material exhibited a linear relationship between the temperature parameters
