    Abstract $V_2O_3$ has long been studied as a prototypical strongly correlated material. The difficulty in obtaining clean, well ordered surfaces, however, hindered the use of surface sensitive techniques to study its electronic structure. Here we show by mean of X-ray diffraction and electrical transport that thin films prepared by pulsed laser deposition can reproduce the functionality of bulk $V_2O_3$. The same films, when transferred in-situ, show an excellent surface quality as indicated by scanning tunnelling microscopy and low energy electron diffraction, representing a viable approach to study the metal-insulator transition (MIT) in $V_2O_3$ by means of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. Combined, these two aspects pave the way for the use of $V_2O_3$ thin films in device-oriented heterostructures.

    Abstract The results of a search for gluinos in final states with an isolated electron or muon, multiple jets and large missing transverse momentum using proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of [Formula: see text] are presented. The dataset used was recorded in 2015 by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb[Formula: see text]. Six signal selections are defined that best exploit the signal characteristics. The data agree with the Standard Model background expectation in all six signal selections, and the largest deviation is a 2.1 standard deviation excess. The results are interpreted in a simplified model where pair-produced gluinos decay via the lightest chargino to the lightest neutralino. In this model, gluinos are excluded up to masses of approximately 1.6 Te V depending on the mass spectrum of the simplified model, thus surpassing the limits of previous searches.

    Abstract Oxidative fluorination of the electron-deficient phosphine Ph(2)P(C(6)F(5)) using XeF(2), followed by fluoride ion abstraction from the resulting difluorophosphorane Ph(2)P(F)(2)(C(6)F(5)), produces electrophilic fluorophosphonium salts [Ph(2)P(F)(C(6)F(5))][X] (X = FB(C(6)F(5))(3) or O(3)SCF(3)). Variable temperature NMR spectroscopic analysis of [Ph(2)P(F)(C(6)F(5))][FB(C(6)F(5))(3)] demonstrates a fluxional process attributed to fluoride ion exchange between B(C(6)F(5))(3) and [Ph(2)P(F)(C(6)F(5))](+), suggesting that these species have comparable Lewis acidities. This exchange can also be illustrated by adding phosphine Ph(3)P to [Ph(2)P(F)(C(6)F(5))][FB(C(6)F(5))(3)] at ambient temperature to produce Ph(2)P(F)(2)(C(6)F(5)) and Ph(3)P-B(C(6)F(5))(3), while heating this mixture results in thermally induced para-substitution of Ph(3)P at the C(6)F(5) group of the phosphonium ion to generate [Ph(3)P(C(6)F(4))P(F)(2)Ph(2)][FB(C(6)F(5))(3)]. Such frustrated Lewis pair reactivity also can be exploited by reacting [Ph(2)P(F)(C(6)F(5))][O(3)SCF(3)] with silylphosphine Ph(2)PSiMe(3) to afford the unique mixed-valent salt [Ph(2)P(C(6)F(4))P(F)Ph(2)][O(3)SCF(3)], which upon the addition of fluoride is converted to Ph(2)P(C(6)F(4))P(F)(2)Ph(2). XeF(2) reacts with [Ph(2)P(C(6)F(4))P(F)Ph(2)][O(3)SCF(3)] at ambient temperature, producing equal proportions of the dicationic salt [Ph(2)P(F)(C(6)F(4))P(F)Ph(2)][O(3)SCF(3)](2) and the bis(difluorophosphorane) Ph(2)P(F)(2)(C(6)F(4))P(F)(2)Ph(2), the latter of which can then be quantitatively converted to the former by adding one equiv of Me(3)SiO(3)SCF(3).

    Abstract Purpose: The clinical features of adult GH deficiency (GHD) are nonspecific, and its diagnosis is established through GH stimulation testing, which is often complex, expensive, time-consuming and may be associated with adverse side effects. Moreover, diagnosing adult GHD can be challenging due to the influence of age, gender, and body mass index on GH peak at each test. The insulin tolerance test (ITT), GHRH + arginine test, glucagon stimulation test (GST), and, more recently, testing with macimorelin are all recognized as useful in diagnosing adult GHD. To date GST is still little used, but due to the unavailability of the GHRH all over the world and the high cost of macimorelin, in the next future it will probably become the most widely used test when ITT is contraindicated. The aim of the present review is to describe the current knowledge on GST.
    Methods: Narrative review.
    Results: In the last years several studies have suggested some changes in the original GST protocol and have questioned its diagnostic accuracy when the classic GH cut-point of 3 μg/L is used, suggesting to use a lower GH cut-point to improve its sensitivity and specificity in overweight/obese patients and in those with lower pretest GHD probability.
    Conclusion: This document provides an update on the utility of GST, summarizes how to perform the test, shows which cut-points should be used in interpreting the results, and discusses its drawbacks and caveats referring to the most recent studies.

    Abstract The objective of this study was to analyze, in triathletes, the possible influence of the exercise mode (running × cycling) on time to exhaustion (TTE) and oxygen uptake (V·O 2 ) response during exercise performed at the intensity associated with the achievement of maximal oxygen uptake (IV·O 2max ). Eleven male triathletes (21.8 ± 3.8 yr) performed the following tests on different days on a motorized treadmill and on a cycle ergometer: 1) incremental tests in order to determine V·O 2max and IV·O 2max and, 2) constant work rate tests to exhaustion at IV·O 2max to determine TTE and to describe V·O 2 response (time to achieve V·O 2max - TAV·O 2max, and time maintained at V·O 2max - TMV·O 2max ). No differences were found in V·O 2max, TTE and TMV·O 2max obtained on the treadmill tests (63.7 ± 4.7 ml · kg -1 · min -1; 324.6 ± 109.1 s; 178.9 ± 93.6 s) and cycle ergometer tests (61.4 ± 4.5 ml · kg - 1 · min -1; 390.4 ± 114.4 s; 213.5 ± 102.4 s). However, TAV·O 2max was influenced by exercise mode (145.7 ± 25.3 vs. 176.8 ± 20.1 s; in treadmill and cycle ergometer, respectively; p = 0.006). It is concluded that exercise modality affects the TAV·O 2max, without influencing TTE and TMV·O 2max during exercise at IV·O 2max in triathletes.

    Abstract Statement of the problem: Irrigation solutions used in the preparation of composite restorations have been reported to contain potential contaminants that may interfere with, and compromise, composite bonding.
    Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate microleakage of Class V composite restorations after irrigation of acid conditioner with various solutions. MATERIAL AND MENTODS: Standardized Class V preparations (5 mm wide, 4 mm high and 2 mm deep) were made at the cemento-enamel junction on available buccal, lingual, mesial, and distal surfaces of extracted human posterior teeth. The prepared teeth, separated into 7 groups (n=10), were etched for 10 seconds with a 37% phosphoric acid gel. Each group was irrigated with 1 of the following solutions: (1) tap water, (2) sterile water, (3) sodium chloride solution, (4) filtered water, (5) chlorhexidine, (6) sodium hypochlorite, and (7) distilled water. Each preparation was treated with a bonding agent (Opti-Bond Solo) and then restored with a hybrid composite (Herculite XRV). The restorations were polished with Soflex polishing disks and then thermal cycled for 1000 cycles between 5 degrees C and 55 degrees C with a 20-second dwell time. Assessment of microleakage was performed by application of a dye penetrant, sectioning of the teeth, and examination at original magnification x 20. The nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test (alpha=.05) was used for statistical analysis.
    Results: Microleakage ranging from 10% to 30% was observed in all groups tested. Tap water exhibited the highest incidence of leakage, sterile water the least, with the other irrigation solutions leading to intermediate leakage. However, there was no significant difference in microleakage resulting from any of the irrigation solutions tested.
    Conclusion: The effect of irrigation solutions used in this in vitro study was not significant.

    Abstract Accurately reflecting expected prices in stated preference designs can be challenging for foods like ribeye steak, which exhibit stark fluctuations in prices across time and space. To address this issue, we introduce a novel price vector design, the reference‐price‐informed (RP‐informed) design, which directly incorporates individual's reference prices into discrete choice experiments. By presenting consumers with posted prices that align with their expected prices, this design reflects real‐world food markets. We test this design in a discrete choice experiment evaluating consumer preferences for “low carbon” beef. Our results project a very small market share of low‐carbon ribeye (3%–5%) with conventional meat taking up most of the market. Our results also show that a reference‐price‐informed design reduces reference price uncertainty and leads to more conservative market share estimates than traditional designs, thus preventing the potential overestimation of product's market potential.
