Abstract In this work, a novel ternary nanocomposite of PEI/RuSi-MWCNTs was designed and synthesized for the first time, which an ultrasensitive and self-enhanced electrochemiluminescent (ECL) aptasensor was developed for the detection of profenofos residues in vegetables. The self-enhanced complex PEI-Ru (II) enhanced the emission and stability of ECL, and the multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) acted as an excellent carrier and signal amplification. The PEI/RuSi-MWCNTs were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The incorporation of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) improved the performance of the sensor and provided a platform for the immobilization of the aptamer. The results of the experiment showed that the presence of profenofos significantly suppressed the electrochemiluminescence intensity of the sensor. The detection sensitivity of the aptamer sensor was in the range of 1 × 10

Abstract In this work, a novel ultrasensitive aptasensor for deoxynivalenol (DON) detection based on the polyethyleneimine-functionalised porous reduced graphene oxide loaded gold nanowires (PEI-PrGO/AuNWs) and methylene blue (MB)-labelled zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) signal amplification strategy was proposed. PEI-PrGO/AuNWs with large surface area and excellent conductivity were used as modification materials on bare gold electrodes, which could increase the combining of complementary strand (cDNA) on the electrode substrate and accelerate the electron transfer efficiency. Furthermore, a novel electrochemical signal probe was synthesized using streptavidin-modified zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8/SA) as a carrier loaded with MB and reverse complementary chain (sDNA). In the presence of DON, the signal probe was introduced to the electrode surface by Watson-Crick base pairing after specific binding of DON to the aptamer (Apt). As expected, under the optimal conditions, the DON concentration was linearly related to the peak current generated by the prepared aptasensor, and the measured data were combined with theoretical calculations to obtain a detection limit of 2.23 × 10

Abstract Developing sensitive, reliable, and robust surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrates relies heavily on fabricating a substantial number of hot spots. In this study, we present a straightforward method for creating Ag@PEI/Ag core-satellite nanocomposites. Large Ag nanospheres serve as the cores, and smaller Ag nanoparticles are electrostatically assembled around them through the introduction of polyethyleneimine (PEI). This assembly process generates numerous hot spots not only between two Ag satellites but also between the inner Ag core and Ag satellites, thanks to the sub-nm PEI interlayer. The nanocomposites exhibit great potential for SERS analysis, enabling effective sensing of various organic pollutants, such as thiram and ciprofloxacin, using a portable Raman spectrometer. Notably, these nanocomposites obtain an exceptional detection limit of as low as 10−8 M for them, which falls below the safety level set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Additionally, the substrates demonstrate excellent uniformity, reproducibility and storing stability. Consequently, the Ag@PEI/Ag core-satellite nanocomposites hold great promise as efficient SERS platforms for reliable and highly sensitive monitoring of food safety and environmental analysis.

Abstract Klebsiella pneumoniae (KP) and Acinetobacter baumannii (AB) are two important gram-negative bacteria that cause pneumonia and have been recently known to be associated with food. The rapid detection of these pathogens in food is important to minimize their colonization of the gut and stop new threats of the disease from spreading across the food chain. Herein, a double-edged sword aptasensor was developed for the synchronous detection of KP and AB in food and clinical samples. A highly sensitive, selective, specific, and synchronous detection of the target bacteria was achieved, and the limit of detection (LOD) was 10 cells/mL with a liner range of 50 to 10
