Abstract Monascus pigments (MPs) are a kind of natural ingredient fermented by Monascus spp., which contains three types of pigments: red, orange, and yellow ones. Monascus yellow pigments have a restricted yield and cannot meet industrial application. The method and mechanism of CaCl2 improving yellow pigments production by liquid fermentation of Monascus purpureus M8 were studied in order to overcome the low yield of yellow pigments produced by liquid fermentation. Changes in physiological and biochemical indicators explained the effects of CaCl2 on the production of Monascus yellow pigments from solid fermentation. The intracellular yellow pigments, orange pigments, and red pigments increased by 156.08%, 43.76%, and 42.73%, respectively, with 60 g/l CaCl2 addition to culture medium. The amount of red and orange pigments reduced, while the proportion of yellow pigments increased and the relative peak area of intracellular yellow pigments accounted for a dominant 98.2%, according to thin layer chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography analyses. Furthermore, the influence of CaCl2 extended to the modulation of pigments synthesis-related gene expression in M8 strain. This modulation led to a pronounced upregulation in the expression of the yellow pigments synthesis-related gene, mppE, signifying a pivotal role played by CaCl2 in orchestrating the intricate machinery behind yellow pigments biosynthesis.

Abstract Over the last two decades, housing price-oriented regulation of the real estate market has sparked various debates in several contexts, including policy effectiveness and institutional bias. Scholars have explored the broad impact of policies such as land use controls, property taxes, and financial leverage on housing prices. However, very few studies have focused on the role of separating the consumption and investment demands for housing, especially when the housing bubble prevails and the basic living demands of residents are not fully met. This paper proposes a theoretical model and an empirical method to separate the consumption and investment demands for housing. Using data on housing sales prices and housing rental prices in 70 cities in China, we apply the CES effect function to exhaustively estimate the size of consumption and investment demand, and use a Two-level Hierarchical Liner Model to measure the heterogeneous effects of consumption demands and investment demands on housing prices and economic growth. Our study provides an insightful snapshot of the gradual housing market reform that is unfolding and has yet to be studied in contemporary China.

Abstract The lenticulostriate artery (LSA) is a vital perforating cerebral artery, whose occlusion often leads to lacunar infarction. Currently, digital subtraction angiography is mainly used to visualize the LSA in the clinical setting; however, its invasiveness is an important limiting factor. Studies have shown that time-of-flight (TOF) sequencing using a high-field magnetic resonance system (7 T) can better image the LSA. However, the diameter of the LSA is extremely small (approximately 0.3-0.7 mm) with relatively slow blood flow velocity; therefore, imaging the LSA with a 3-T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner remains challenging. This study aimed to visualize the LSA using 3-dimensional-TOF magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) with compressed sensing using a 3-T system and compare the length and number of the LSAs between patients with infarction and normal controls. The scan times of 3D-TOF MRA with and without compressed sensing were 7 min, and 8 min 44 s, respectively. VR displayed the LSA clearly under both conditions. The total number (p > 0.05) and length (p > 0.05) of the LSAs did not differ significantly between 3D-TOF MRA with and without compressed sensing. However, the total length and number of visualized LSAs was significantly lower (p < 0.05) in the infarction group compared to the control group for both TOF MRA and TOF MRA with compressed sensing. TOF MRA combined with compressed sensing is clinically valuable for analyzing the morphological characteristics of the LSA, and shortens the imaging time to 7 min. This combined technique can meet the requirements of shorter scanning times in clinical settings.

Abstract In this work, we report for the first time that thiophenol-substituted naphthalimide can achieve thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) and room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) simultaneously through non-conjugated flexible connection. Herein, we explain that the enhancement of intersystem crossing (ISC) between the singlet excited state and triplet excited states in NISPh is mainly caused by the non-adiabatic conformation distortion charge transfer (CDCT) of the excited states. More precisely, CDCT results in the conformation matching and energy barrier decrease between the excited states. In addition, the electronic and vibration coupling is further enhanced in NISPh. Our work substantiates a rational design strategy for the development of simple purely organic materials to achieve dual emission of TADF and RTP.
