    Abstract This study investigated the effect of the oxidation degrees of oxidized konjac glucomannan (OKGM) on the encapsulation efficiency (EE), physicochemical and in vitro digestive properties of soy protein isolate (SPI)-based microcapsules walnut oil using experimental and computational approaches. Microcapsules had the highest EE when the ratio of OKGM and SPI to oil was 2.5:1. With increasing the oxidation degree of OKGM, the EE of microcapsules was increased and the hygroscopicity was decreased. Molecular dynamics simulation results showed that SPI/oil/highly OKGM had relatively low binding energy (-4.03 × 10

    Abstract Objective To establish and evaluate a prediction model for invasive pulmonary fungal infection based on clinical images in order to provide reference for early identification of the disease. Methods A case-control trial was designed and conducted on 187 hospitalized patients with invasive pulmonary fungal infection and 190 patients with pulmonary infection of other pathogens in our department from January 1, 2016 to September 30, 2021. Their clinical and imaging data were collected and analyzed. The participants were randomly assigned into training set (n=264) and verification set (n=113) at a ratio of 7 ∶3. Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted through binary logistic regression, and a nomograph prediction model was constructed using R software package. The validity and application value of the model were evaluated through receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, area under ROC curve (AUC), calibration curve, and decision curve (DCA). Results Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that anemia (OR=6.41, 95%CI: 1.62~25.43), diabetes (OR=6.77, 95%CI: 1.20~38.11), COPD (OR=12.82, 95%CI: 2.71~60.55), malnutrition after admission (OR=8.78, 95%CI: 2.17~35.55), mask/nasal oxygen inhalation (OR=3.53, 95%CI: 0.911~13.66), cholinesterase (OR=7.47, 95%CI: 1.66~33.57), right lung lower lobe (OR=11.17, 95%CI: 2.07~60.16), left lung lower lobe (OR=16.25, 95%CI: 3.31~79.71), ground glass opacity (OR=19.22, 95%CI: 4.17~88.48), air bronchogram (OR=6.44, 95%CI: 1.27~32.68), and bronchiectasis (OR=11.58, 95%CI: 1.50~89.25) were related factors of pulmonary fungal infection. The nomogram was constructed from the above 11 factors (R2=0.830, C-index=0.97, 95%CI: 0.96~0.99). The AUC of the training and verification sets were 0.972 (95%CI: 0.955~0.988) and 0.945 (95%CI: 0.905~0.985), respectively, indicating a high efficiency of differentiation. The calibration curves of the training set and the verification set were distributed along the 45° line basically, and the DCA curves showed that there was a net ...

    Abstract Formaldehyde is susceptible to illegal addition to foodstuffs to extend their shelf life due to its antimicrobial, preservative and bleaching properties. In this study, a self-supporting "nanosheet on nanosheet" arrays electrocatalyst with core-shell heterostructure was prepared in situ by coupling NiCo layer double hydroxide with 2D ZIF derived Co-nitrogen-doped porous carbon on carbon cloth (Co-N/C@NiCo-LDH NSAs/CC). Co-N/C nanosheet arrays act as a scaffold core with good electrical conductivity, providing more NiCo-LDH nucleation sites to avoid NiCo-LDH agglomeration, thus having fast mass/charge transfer performance. While the NiCo-LDH nanosheet arrays shell with high specific surface area provide more active sites for electrochemical reactions. As an electrocatalytic sensing electrode, Co-N/C@NiCo-LDH NSAs/CC has a wide linear range of 1 μM to 13 mM for formaldehyde detection, and the detection limit is 82 nM. Besides, the sensor has been applied to the detection of formaldehyde in food samples with satisfactory results.

    Abstract Purpose: This meta-analysis aimed to explore correlations between vitamin D and idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM).
    Methods: A comprehensive database search was conducted on 13 October 2020. Mean differences (MDs) and aggregated risk ratios (RR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to determine the correlation between vitamin D deficiency (VDD) and IIM. Statistical analysis was performed with RevMan 5.4 and Stata15, statistical significance was set at
    Results: Search revealed five studies with 286 IIM patients and 480 healthy controls. Results with random-effects modeling indicated that serum vitamin D levels were significantly lower in IIM patients than in healthy controls (MD = -13.10 ng/mL; 95% CI: -16.51 to -9.68;
    Conclusion: This meta-analysis showed correlations between vitamin D level and IIM. The results indicated, VDD may be a risk factor for IIM, a determinant of immune dysregulation in IIM, or a consequence of IIM. Also, it implied further research to determine whether vitamin D supplementation is beneficial for patients with IIM.

    Abstract Objective: Older patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) face a higher risk of death. This study analyzed the gene sequencing results of an elderly AML patient to provide new ideas for treatment.
    Methods: This study performed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) bioinformatics analysis of blood cells in the peripheral blood and bone marrow of a 64-year-old AML-M5 patient before chemotherapy. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, and functional enrichment analyses were performed.
    Results: A total of 7990 and 123 DEGs were identified in monocytes and hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), respectively. Among the top 40 DEGs analyzed,
    Conclusions: In conclusion, when treating elderly AML patients, it is important to consider their individual characteristics in order to optimize treatment strategies.
