Abstract The quality of roadside soil along the NH3 highway of high traffic density at Morena- M.P. was studied during 2010-11 at 12 different locations. The roadside soil was found to be highly contaminated. This is evident from the modification of the soil pH, Electrical conductance, Water holding capacity and other Physico-chemical properties when compared to natural soil. The presence of heavy metals like Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe in the roadside soil was also considerable.

Abstract High level ab initio and hybrid DFT methods have been employed to investigate the interactions of metal ions (Li(+) and Mg(2+)) with N and P substituted six membered heteroaromatics (CH)(6-m-n)N(m)P(n). The binding energy (BE) of metal ions with the N and P substituted heteroaromatics has been computed at the CCSD(T)/cc-pVTZ//MP2/cc-pVTZ level with counterpoise correction. In the present study we systematically examined the preferential modes of binding of metal ions to the heteroaromatics. N-Substituted heteroaromatics show a strong preference for cation-σ mode of binding whereas the P-substituted heteroaromatics prefer cation-π mode of binding with the metal ions. Energy decomposition analysis (EDA) using the DFT-SAPT scheme has been carried out to analyse the contribution of various energy components to the BE. The results illustrate that for the cation-π complexes, the contribution of the induction term is more whereas in the case of cation-σ there is a competition between induction and electrostatic terms in the interaction energy.

Abstract A field experiment was undertaken to evaluate the performance of different weed control treatments in cluster bean during kharif, 2015 in RBD with three replications. Treatment of weed free check was found best by recording highest values of yield attributes, seed (20.97 q/ha), stover (65.68q/ha) with maximum weed control efficiency at successive stages. Among different herbicides treatments, Imazethapyr + Imazamox @ 40 g/ha (PoE) at 20 DAS showed highest values of yield attributes, seed yield (19.59 q/ha), stover yield (63.83 q/ha), WCE (91.84, at 60 DAS) and minimum WI (6.0). In monetary terms significantly highest net return (Rs. 86883/ha) were obtained from weed free check, followed by imazethapyr + imazamox @ 40 g/ha (PoE) at 20 DAS (Rs.85398/ha) and imazethapyr @ 75 g/ha (PoE), at 20 DAS (84394 Rs./ha). The maximum B: C ratio of 6.57 was recorded with treatment imazethapyr @ 75 g/ha (PoE), followed by imazethapyr+ imazamox @ 40 g/ha (PoE) 6.37.

Abstract Sixteen isolates of Nontubercular Mycobacteria species were isolated from drinking water supply of some educational institutes in Jabalpur during July 2006 and were identified by biochemical test, thin layer chromatography (TLC) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis and PRA ( PCR restriction enzyme analysis) of rpoB gene. Out of 21 water samples total 16 isolates of nontuberculous mycobacteria were identified, as M. terrae (6), M. szulgai (4), M. gordonae (3), and one each as M. malmoense, M. kansasii, and M. gastri.

Abstract Synthesis of a m/p-cresol-based novolac resin and its subsequent esterification using di-tert-butyl dicarbonate (t-BOC) is described. The product has been characterized using techniques of FTIR spectroscopy, one dimensional ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, and DEPT-135 spectra. Two dimensional NMR experiments like, COSY, HSQC, and HMBC have been used for exhaustive probing of the microstructural details of the derivatized copolymer.

Abstract The present work was conceived by appreciating the geomorphological feature at the edge of the Damoh plateau immediately north of Hiran River, a tributary of Narmada falling between Lat 23° 15’ and 23° 24’ l0’N, and Long.79°30’E and 79°45’E, M.P. India. The striking features observed behind the high rising south facing ridge was the presence of linear valley dividing the ridge from the Damoh plateau. The setup itself presents an excellent site for tectono-morphic studies. Moreover, the valley is narrow and tight and its base is high up by more than 50 m. from the plain of Hiran. Thus the whole setup offers an opportunity for storage of water with an advantage of water head with respect to the Hiran plain. Topographic maps on 1:50000 scale were utilized to delineate the drainage system, thus to identify precisely water divides using Geographic Information System (GIS). Morphometric parameters were determined for Hiran basin and principal component analysis was carried out. The results show that the linear parameters dominate the initial organization as determined by available slope segment. This analysis conclusively indicates that the streams are quite recent which occupied the structurally formed valleys and are in process of adjustment through making modifications. Presence of waterfalls through these valleys across the frontal ridge too indicates a recent history.
