Abstract Objectives: Analyze the epidemiological profile of patients with traumatic spinal fractures treated at Mário Covas State Hospital between 2015 and 2020.
Methodology: This is an epidemiological, descriptive, retrospective, quantitative, comparative, medical records review-type study. Data collection was carried out between May and June 2022 at the Mário Covas State Hospital, the following characteristics being evaluated: age, sex, lesion topography, trauma mechanism, origin and treatment.
Results: Data from 252 patients with traumatic spinal fractures were analyzed. The mean age of patients was 48.7 years, 74.7% were male. The mechanism of trauma from falls from a height and the topography of the lumbar vertebrae have a highly significant trend. The most affected vertebrae are lumbar L1, thoracic T12 and cervical C6. The crossing of the age group with the male sex is higher than expected in those over 60 years of age. The crossing of the age group with the trauma mechanism is higher than expected, between 20 and 39 years.
Conclusion: There are few published works on the epidemiology of traumatic fractures of the spine, which points to the need for further studies on the subject. Level of Evidence III; Retrospective comparative study.

Abstract The current study focuses on the short-term effect of MARIO, a social robot, on quality of life, depression, and perceived social support in persons with dementia (PWD) and evaluates their acceptability of MARIO. Ten PWD in one nursing home took part in a 4-week pilot study, where each participant had up to 12 sessions with MARIO. Sessions comprised engagement in music, news, reminiscence, games, and calendar applications. Standardized questionnaires were administered before and after the 4-week period. Participants had a sustained interest in MARIO during their interactions and an acceptance of MARIO's appearance, sound, and applications. Consequently, participants spent more time socially engaged. No statistically significant differences were found in quality of life, depression, and perceived social support. PWD can engage with a social robot in a real-world nursing home. Future research should incorporate a larger sample and longer intervention period. [Journal of Gerontological Nursing, 45(7), 36-45.].

Abstract This paper presents and discusses original ideas defended by the Brazilian and critical thinker and art Mário Pedrosa in his books "Option Imperialist and" the "Brazilian Option", launched in 1966 during the dictatorship, about the prospects for an economic planning of the country at odds with the market economy. To this end the article recalls the criticism of development economists in the 1960s, a brief presentation of the initial theoretical debates about the deployment of a planned economy in the USSR in the 1920s and the reforms implemented in the 1960s by the Soviet planned economy. The author examined defended the concrete possibilities and characteristics common to a higher synthesis between the great Soviet trusts and the big monopolies of the US economy. Under this basis, finally, Original Ideas proposals are submitted to what the author calls "transition economy" in Brazil, which should incorporate the development of a broad democratic process of building the priorities for future planned economy in the country.

Abstract It is a well-known fact that Kant used the lament of the Trojan queen, Hecuba, from Ovid's Metamorphoses to describe the fate of metaphysics. But these words could equally be used to describe the peculiar fate of the Alcibiades Major. There was a time when this small dialogue was held in high regard and enjoyed much authority.2 The Alcibiades Major was unreservedly attributed to Plato. It was much read, quoted and alluded to. And it is no exaggeration to say that it was one of the key works of the corpus platonicum. The contrast with the present could hardly be more striking
