Abstract An important task in the urbanization process of developing countries is to promote and support migrants' settlement in cities. Based on the China Migrants Dynamic Survey of 2018, this paper analyzes how basic public health services (BPHSs) impact migrants' settlement intentions. This study shows that establishing health records and access to health-related knowledge significantly and positively impact migrants' intentions to settle permanently in inflow areas by increasing their health status and degree of social integration. Yet, this paper discusses how the trends are heterogeneous, finding that BPHSs more significantly impact the settlement intentions of female, less-educated and rural migrants. The findings of this paper provide new factual evidence that may support government policymaking to further improve migrants' utilization of medical and health resources and their intention to settle down.

Abstract Macrophages, a heterogeneous population of innate immune cells, exhibit remarkable plasticity and play pivotal roles in coordinating immune responses and maintaining tissue homeostasis within the context of metabolic diseases. The activation of inflammatory macrophages in obese adipose tissue leads to detrimental effects, inducing insulin resistance through increased inflammation, impaired thermogenesis, and adipose tissue fibrosis. Meanwhile, adipose tissue macrophages also play a beneficial role in maintaining adipose tissue homeostasis by regulating angiogenesis, facilitating the clearance of dead adipocytes, and promoting mitochondrial transfer. Exploring the heterogeneity of macrophages in obese adipose tissue is crucial for unraveling the pathogenesis of obesity and holds significant potential for targeted therapeutic interventions. Recently, the dual effects and some potential regulatory mechanisms of macrophages in adipose tissue have been elucidated using single-cell technology. In this review, we present a comprehensive overview of the intricate activation mechanisms and diverse functions of macrophages in adipose tissue during obesity, as well as explore the potential of drug delivery systems targeting macrophages, aiming to enhance the understanding of current regulatory mechanisms that may be potentially targeted for treating obesity or metabolic diseases.

Abstract With the increasing demand for privacy, multispectral camouflage devices that utilize metasurface designs in combination with mature detection technologies have become effective. However, these early designs face challenges in realizing multispectral camouflage with a single metasurface and restricted modes. Therefore, this paper proposes a dynamically tunable metasurface. The metasurface consists of gold (Au), antimony selenide (Sb

Abstract The burgeoning demand for miniaturized energy storage devices compatible with the miniaturization trend of electronic technologies necessitates advancements in micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) that promise safety, cost efficiency, and high-speed charging capabilities. However, conventional aqueous MSCs face a significant limitation due to their inherently narrow electrochemical potential window, which restricts their operational voltage and energy density compared to their organic and ionic liquid counterparts. In this study, we introduce an innovative aqueous NaCl/H

Abstract Improving people’s livelihood resilience against risks and challenges plays an important role in consolidating the achievements of poverty reduction. The paper uses 64 poverty-stricken counties in China’s Sichuan province as the study area and explores the link between spatial segregation and human capital. The results show that the proximity (spatial segregation) is significantly and negatively associated with people’s educational attainment and their acquisition of non-farming employment. Residents in villages which are distant from the county center tend to obtain less educational opportunities and are less likely to engage in non-farming jobs than those who are close to the county center. The mediating effect analysis indicates that remoteness mainly reduces the propensity of getting non-farming jobs by reducing the human capital of rural residents. Further analysis shows that the association between proximity, human capital and the probability of acquiring non-farming work is higher in areas with lower economic level and less developed transportation infrastructure. Policy implications for improving people’s livelihood resilience in impoverished areas are proposed in the paper.

Abstract The development of wearable multifunctional electromagnetic protective fabrics with multifunctional, low cost, and high efficiency remains a challenge. Here, inspired by the unique flower branch shape of "Thunberg's meadowsweet" in nature, a nanofibrous composite membrane with hierarchical structure was constructed. Integrating sophisticated 0D@2D@1D hierarchical structures with multiple heterointerfaces can fully unleash the multifunctional application potential of composite membrane. The targeted induction method was used to precisely regulate the formation site and morphology of the metal-organic framework precursor, and intelligently integrate multiple heterostructures to enhance dielectric polarization, which improves the impedance matching and loss mechanisms of the electromagnetic wave absorbing materials. Due to the synergistic enhancement of electrospinning-derived carbon nanofiber "stems", MOF-derived carbon nanosheet "petals" and transition metal selenide nano-particle "stamens", the Co

Abstract Many time-sensitive scenarios need to decrypt data at a specified time. The timed-release encryption (TRE) primitive can meet this requirement. However, in the single-time server TRE model, there is a single point of failure problem. Therefore, we propose a tamper-resistant timed secure data transmission protocol based on smart contracts. Firstly, by decomposing the ciphertext into ciphertext fragments, the amount of deposit that a single middleman needs to submit is reduced. Secondly, it provides the system with security redundancy that changes with the decomposition mode. Thirdly, the sender is required to submit the hash value of each ciphertext fragment to the blockchain network at the same time as sending data, so that the receiver can quickly verify the authenticity of the ciphertext to resist substitution attack. Security analysis shows that the proposed protocol model can resist interruption attacks, release-ahead attacks and replacement attacks. Finally, we conduct a monetary cost test on the Ethereum's Rinkeby test network. The results show that our running cost is almost double compared with the existing similar scheme, but it is still very low and almost negligible compared with the value of the content and the expected profits it brings.

Abstract The heterogeneity of investor sentiment plays a key role in causing the asymmetry of information transmission patterns and transmission intensity between markets. This paper analyzes the asymmetric risk spillover between the international crude oil market and other markets, including commodity market and financial market, using monthly data from June 2006 to October 2020. The risk from the international crude oil market is separated into upside and downside risks. The empirical results suggest that, first, from the perspective of static spillover, the risk spillover between the international oil market and commodity market or financial market enhances significantly in response to rising return; second, from the perspective of dynamic spillover, the asymmetric risk spillover of international crude oil market manifests the key roles played by important events happening in the crude oil market and alternating attributes of crude oil. Some policy suggestions are proposed in light of these empirical results.
