Abstract Effective reduction of the allergenicity of instant soy milk powder (ISMP) is practically valuable for expanding its applications. This study optimized the enzymolysis technology of ISMP using single-factor experiments and response surface methodology, combined serological analysis, cellular immunological models, bioinformatics tools, and multiple spectroscopy techniques to investigate the effects of alcalase hydrolysis on allergenicity, spatial conformation, and linear epitopes of ISMP. Under the optimal process, special IgE and IgG1 binding abilities and allergenic activity to induce cell degranulation of alcalase-hydrolyzed ISMP were reduced by (64.72 ± 1.76)%, (56.79 ± 3.72)%, and (73.3 ± 1.19)%, respectively (

Abstract Background: The impact of hyperglycemia on dental implant therapy remains unclear. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, the authors compared the rates of implant failure and peri-implant bleeding on probing (BOP), probing depth (PD), and peri-implant bone loss (PIBL) among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and nondiabetic patients. The authors performed subgroup analyses based on glycemic level to evaluate whether patients with higher glycemic levels were more prone to peri-implant inflammation.
Type of studies reviewed: The authors searched 4 databases for original clinical studies. Studies in which the researchers provided information on the rate of implant failure or peri-implant parameters were included.
Results: Nine clinical studies were identified on the basis of the inclusion criteria. No significant differences were found in rates of implant failure (P = .46) and PD (P = .1) between diabetic and nondiabetic patients. Significant differences in BOP (P < .00001) and PIBL (P = .02), favoring nondiabetic patients, were observed. Results of subgroup analyses indicated that the increase in glycemic level did not significantly influence BOP, PD, and PIBL values among diabetic patients.
Conclusions and practical implications: Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus seem to be able to achieve a rate of implant survival similar to that of healthy patients. Regarding peri-implant parameters, BOP and PIBL were higher in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, indicating that hyperglycemia is an important risk factor for peri-implant inflammation. No association was found between peri-implant parameters and glycemic level among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, providing oral hygiene was strictly maintained.

Abstract We present the case of a 10-month-old girl with spontaneously ruptured cystic nephroma with a 1-week-old abdominal mass and a 1-day history of marked abdominal distension. The tumor presented as gourd-shaped, cystic solid mass in the right kidney with fluid collection. The tumor was successfully removed by urgent surgery. The girl remained in good condition throughout six-month follow-up after.

Abstract Familial Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a rare disease caused by autosomal-dominant mutations. APP (encoding amyloid precursor protein), PSEN1 (encoding presenilin 1), and PSEN2 (encoding presenilin 2) are the most common genes cause dominant inherited AD. This study aimed to demonstrate a Chinese early-onset AD pedigree presenting as progressive memory impairment, apraxia, visual-spatial disorders, psychobehavioral disorders, and personality changes with a novel APP gene mutation. The family contains four patients, three carries and three normal family members. The proband underwent brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI),

Abstract Treatment of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) needs to reduce inflammation, relieve hypoxia, lower blood glucose, promote angiogenesis, and eliminate pathogenic bacteria, but the therapeutic efficacy is greatly limited by the diversity and synergy of drug functions as well as the DFU microenvironment itself. Herein, an ultrasound-augmented multienzyme-like nanozyme hydrogel spray was developed using hyaluronic acid encapsulated l-arginine and ultrasmall gold nanoparticles and Cu

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic performance and inter-observer agreement of the American College of Radiology Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System Ultrasound (O-RADS) in the diagnosis of ovarian masses in children.
Methods: From June 2012 to December 2021, 163 ovarian masses in 159 patients with pathologic results were retrospectively analyzed. Each mass was classified into an O-RADS category according to the criteria. The diagnostic performance of O-RADS for detecting malignant ovarian masses was assessed using histopathology as the reference standard. Kappa (
Results: Out of 163 ovarian masses, 18 (11.0%) were malignant and 145 (89.0%) were benign. The malignancy rates of O-RADS 5, O-RADS 4, and O-RADS 3 masses were 72.7%, 34.6%, and 4.8%, respectively. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.944 (95% CI, 0.908-0.981). The optimal cutoff value for predicting malignant ovarian masses was  > O-RADS 3 with a sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 94.4%, 86.2% and 86.2% respectively. The inter-observer agreement of the O-RADS category was good (
Conclusions: O-RADS has a high diagnostic performance for children with ovarian masses. It provides an effective malignant risk classification for ovarian masses in children, which shows high consistency between radiologists with different levels of experience.
