    Abstract Currently, there are many effective pharmacological treatments for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), formulated herbal granule is also an alternative way. Our research intends to construct a pharmacological network on genetic targets and pathways between Jiu Wei Zhen Xin Formula (JWZXF) and GAD. Through the TCMSP database, we collected the active ingredients of JWZXF and potential targets of the active ingredients. The GAD-related proteins collected from GeneCards database and DisGeNET database were combined. Component-target protein networks were constructed and visualized using Cytoscape 3.8.2 software to comprehensively clarify the relationships between ingredients, components, and targets. The intersection targets were imported into the STRING database, and the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed. We constructed and analyzed the visualized "drug-target-disease" network. Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment together with Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis were conducted on the common target through R language. Forty-one effective components and 106 potential targets of JWZXF were found. There were top ten hub genes and multiple important signaling pathways involved in the treatment of GAD with the JWZXF. This study expounded the pharmacological actions and molecular mechanisms of the JWZXF in treating GAD from a holistic perspective. The potential pharmacological effects of the JWZXF are closely related to regulation because not only does it comprehensively analyze the possible mechanism of JWZXF treatment of GAD but it can also facilitate further in-depth research and provide a theoretical basis for the clinical expansion of its application.

    Abstract Introduction: Unstable angina pectoris (UAP) is the common type of coronary heart disease with the risk of developing into acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Currently, there are still numerous patients suffering from recurrent angina after revascularization or conventional medication due to the microvascular lesions, endothelial dysfunction, chronic inflammation, in-stent restenosis, and other factors. As an important part of China's medical and health care system, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has rich clinical experience in the treatment of UAP. According to the theory of TCM, Yang deficiency and blood stasis syndrome is a common type of UAP. Wen Xin decoction, as a type of Chinese herbal medicine, has been used in the clinic for years and shown great efficacy in the treatment of UAP with Yang deficiency and blood stasis syndrome. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Wen Xin granular in patients with UAP.
    Methods and analysis: This is a double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial. A total of 502 participants will be randomly allocated to the intervention group and the placebo group. Based on conventional medication, the intervention group will be treated with Wen Xin granular and the placebo group will be treated with Wen Xin granular placebo. The primary outcomes are major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). Assessments will be performed 1 year after the treatment. The secondary outcomes include TCM symptom scale score, Seattle angina questionnaire, and thromboelastography. Assessments will be performed at baseline (before randomization) and 4 and 8 weeks after randomization.
    Discussion: This trial will provide high-quality data on the benefits and risks of Wen Xin granular in patients with UAP.
    Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov NCT04661709 . Registered on 30 November 2020.

    Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effects of Xin Mai Jia (XMJ) on atherosclerosis (AS) in rabbits and to explore the underlying mechanisms in order to provide experimental evidence for the clinical application of XMJ. An intraperitoneal injection of vitamin D3, combined with a high-fat diet and sacculus injury, was utilized to establish the AS rabbit model. Following the oral administration of lovastatin, Zhibituo and different dosages of XMJ, respectively, blood was drawn from each rabbit for the detection of blood rheological indicators, such as serum lipids. The pathological changes in the right common carotid artery were observed. Vascular function experiments and the expression detection of common carotid artery-related proteins by immunohistochemistry were conducted.     Abstract Objective: To study and evaluate the curative effect and mechanism of Qiangxin Granule (QXG) in intervening chronic heart failure (CHF) rats with Xin-qi deficiency complicated blood stasis and edema syndrome (XQD-BS-ES).
    Methods: Totally 72 SD rats of clean grade were randomly divided to the normal control group (n =10) and the model group (n = 62). The XQD-BS-ES rat model was established by adriamycin plus propylthiouracil method. Survived modeled rats were then randomly divided to 5 groups i.e., the model group (n = 11, administered with normal saline by gastrogavage), the Western medicine (WM) group (n =11 , administered with perindopril and hydrochlorothiazide by gastrogavage), the low dose QXG (QXG(L)) group (n = 11, administered with 9.26 g/kg QXG by gastrogavage), the middle dose QXG (QXG(M)) group (n = 11, administered with 18.52 g/kg QXG by gastrogavage), the high dose QXG (QXG(H)) group (n = 11, administered with 37.04 g/kg QXG by gastrogavage). After 4 weeks of treatment, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular fraction shortening (LVFS), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RR), urine output, ear temperature, exhaustive swimming test (EST), tri-iodothyronine (T3), tetra-iodothyronine (T4), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), as well as heart, lung, liver weight index and their pathological sections, and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (HS-CRP), angiotensin II (Ang II), carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125) were detected and compared.
    Results: Compared with the normal control group, LVEF, LVFS, BNP, HR, RR, urine output, ear temperature, EST, T3, T4, TSH, HS-CRP, Ang II, and CA125 changed significantly in the model group (P < 0.01). Compared with the model group after treatment, LVEF, LVFS, BNP, urine output, EST, T4, heart and liver weight index, HS-CRP, Ang II, CA125 were significantly improved in each QXG group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). Moreover, TSH was improved in the QXGL and QXG(M) groups (P < 0.05); ear temperature and T3 in the QXG(M) were also improved (P < 0.05); the lung weight index decreased in the QXG(M) and QXG(H) groups (P < 0.01). Compared with the WM group, T4 and CA125 were obviously improved in all QXG groups (P < 0.01); BNP and ear temperature were obviously improved in QXG(L) and QXG(M) groups (P < 0.05, P < 0.01); LVEF, LVFS and TSH were obviously improved in the QXG(M) group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). And as far as each treatment group, LVEF, LVFS, urine output increased significantly after treatment (P < 0.01); EST obviously increased in QXG(M) and QXG(H) groups (P < 0.01); ear temperature increased in all QXG groups (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). Moreover, compared with the model group, pathological changes of heart, lung, and liver were improved to some degree in each treatment group, especially in the QXG(M) group.
    Conclusions: Good curative effect was shown in each QXG group. QXG could improve LVEF, LVFS and BNP of CHF rats of XQD-BS-ES, as well as T3, T4, TSH, EST, urine output, and ear temperature. Moreover, QXG showed superiority than WM group in this respect.

    Abstract Objective: To establish and evaluate chronic heart failure (CHF) rat model of Xin-qi deficiency complicated blood stasis and edema syndrome (XQD-BSES).
    Methods: Totally 40 SD rats were randomly divided into the normal control group (Control), the propylthiouracil (PTU) group, the adriamycin (ADR), and the ADR + PTU group. Normal saline was used as equivalent solvent of each group. Rats in the Control group were intragastrically and intraperitoneally injected with normal saline. Rats in the PTU group were intragastrically injected with PTU suspension and intraperitoneally injected with normal saline. Rats in the ADR group were intragastrically injected with ADR solution and intraperitoneally injected with normal saline. And rats in the ADR + PTU group were intragastrically injected with PTU suspension and intraperitoneally injected with ADR solution. The dose of PTU was 0.2% of daily forage weight, once daily. The dose of ADR was 3.5 mg/kg, once per week. The modeling lasted for 6 weeks. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular fraction shortening (LVFS), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RR), urine output, ear temperature, exhaustive swimming test (EST), Tri-iodothyronine (T3), tetra-iodothyronine(T4), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) as well as heart, lung, liver weight indices and their pathological sections were integrated and compared.
    Results: Compared with the Control group, LVEF, LVFS, BNP, HR, RR, heart, lung, liver weight indices, urine output, ear temperature, EST, and T3, T4, and TSH changed significantly in the ADR group, the PTU group, and the ADR + PTU group with statistical significance (P < 0.05), and pathological changes of heart failure occurred in pathological sections of heart, lung, and liver. Compared with the ADR group, LVEF, LVFS, BNP, and lung, liver weight indices, urine output, ear temperature, T3, T4, and TSH changed significantly in the ADR + PTU group with statistical significance (P < 0.05), and pathological changes of heart failure were more serious in pathological sections of heart, lung, and liver. Compared with the PTU group, LVEF, LVFS, BNP, HR, RR, urine output, EST, T4, heart and lung weight indices changed significantly in the ADR + PTU group with statistical significance (P < 0.05), and pathological changes of heart failure were quite serious in pathological sections of heart, lung, and liver.
    Conclusion: ADR + PTU was an appropriate method to establish CHF rat model of XQD-BSES.

    Abstract An extremely haloalkaliphilic archaeon, strain AD2(T), was isolated from Aiding salt lake in Xin-Jiang, China. Strain AD2(T) required at least 12 % NaCl for growth. MgCl(2) was not required. The isolate was able to grow over a pH range of 8.0-10.0 and temperature range of 20-55 degrees C, with optimal growth at pH 8.7-9.2 and 44-47 degrees C. The major polar lipids of strain AD2(T) were phosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol phosphate methyl ester; glycolipids were not detected. Analysis of its 16S rRNA gene sequence indicated that strain AD2(T) was phylogenetically related to members of the genus Natronorubrum, with sequence similarities to the type strains of Natronorubrum bangense, Natronorubrum tibetense and Natronorubrum aibiense of 97.1, 95.9 and 96.1 %, respectively. The G+C content of its DNA was 60.9 mol% (T(m)). Levels of DNA-DNA relatedness between strain AD2(T) and the type strains of Nrr. bangense, Nrr. tibetense and Nrr. aibiense were 49, 38 and 41 %, respectively. It was concluded that strain AD2(T) represents a novel species of the genus Natronorubrum, for which the name Natronorubrum sulfidifaciens sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is AD2(T) (=CGMCC 1.6307(T)=JCM 14089(T)).

    Abstract A starch-hydrolysing and extremely halophilic archaeon (strain BD-3(T)), isolated from Aibi salt lake in Xin-Jiang, China, was characterized phenotypically and genotypically in order to determine its taxonomic status. On the basis of its polar lipid composition, nucleotide sequences of its 16S rRNA genes, genomic DNA G+C content (62.4 mol%) and growth characteristics, the organism could be assigned to the genus Haloarcula. Phenotypic differences and low DNA-DNA hybridization values to related Haloarcula species distinguished strain BD-3(T) from recognized Haloarcula species. It is therefore concluded that strain BD-3(T) represents a novel species, for which the name Haloarcula amylolytica sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is BD-3(T) (=CGMCC 1.5335(T)=JCM 13557(T)).

    Abstract Two extremely halophilic archaea, strains 9-3(T) and 31-hong(T), were isolated from Aibi salt lake and Aiding salt lake in Xin-Jiang, China. Their morphology, physiology, biochemical features, polar lipid compositions and 16S rRNA gene sequences were characterized in order to elucidate their taxonomic status. The results from this study indicated that strains 9-3(T) and 31-hong(T) are members of the genus Halorubrum. Their physiological properties and polar lipid compositions are clearly different from those of the currently described species of Halorubrum. DNA-DNA relatedness values for strain 9-3(T) with respect to its closely related neighbours Halorubrum saccharovorum JCM 8865(T) and Halorubrum lacusprofundi JCM 8891(T) were 51.6 and 25.1 %, respectively, DNA-DNA relatedness values for strain 31-hong(T) with respect to its closely related neighbours Hrr. saccharovorum JCM 8865(T) and Hrr. lacusprofundi JCM 8891(T) were 29.4 and 44.9 %, respectively, and DNA-DNA relatedness between strains 9-3(T) and 31-hong(T) was 54 %. Thus, two novel species of the genus Halorubrum are proposed, Halorubrum lipolyticum sp. nov. (type strain 9-3(T)=CGMCC 1.5332(T)=JCM 13559(T)) and Halorubrum aidingense sp. nov. (type strain 31-hong(T)=CGMCC 1.2670(T)=JCM 13560(T)).
