Abstract: ... the protective effects of Yiqi Jiedu (YQJD) decoction on spleen injury induced by 2 Gy : Materials and methods ...

Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance: Irradiation-induced immunosuppression often occurs during radiotherapy in patients, which would increase the risk of opportunistic infections. Many Chinese herbal prescriptions or natural extracts have recently attracted increased radiation protection and therapy attention due to their low toxicity.
Aim of the study: The present study aimed to investigate the protective effects of Yiqi Jiedu (YQJD) decoction on spleen injury induced by 2 Gy
Materials and methods: A total of 180 Balb/c mice were randomly divided into five groups: blank control (Ctrl), model (IR), positive drug (IRA), low-dose YQJD decoction (IRL), and high-dose YQJD decoction (IRH). After a ten-day intervention, mice were exposed to a single dose of total body irradiation (2 Gy) and sacrificed on the 1
Results: In comparison to the Ctrl group, the body weight, spleen index, peripheral blood cell, and splenocyte quantities decreased significantly after exposure, accompanied by a notable increase of apoptosis in spleen cells. Moreover, ionizing radiation also broke the balance of CD4+/CD8+, Th1/Th2, and Th17/Treg, triggering immune imbalance and immunosuppression. The above injuries occurred on the 1
Conclusion: The protective effects of YQJD decoction on 2 Gy

Abstract Objective: Quanzhen Yiqi decoction (QZYQ) is a traditional Chinese medicine for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Methods: Mice were exposed to cigarette smoke (CS) 6 days/week (40 cigarettes/day) for 24 weeks and then intragastrically administered QZYQ (4.72, 9.45, or 18.89 g/kg) or dexamethasone (DEX, 0.6 mg/kg) for 6 weeks. We examined the lung function and collected bronchoalveolar lavage fluid for inflammatory cell and cytokine quantification. The pathological lung changes, ROS and oxidative biomarkers were measured. We used immunohistochemistry and western blotting to evaluate the levels of Nrf2/HO-1, NLRP3/ASC/Caspase1/IL-1β/IL-18.
Results: The CS group showed significant increases in the forced vital capacity, lung resistance, and chord compliance and a lower FEV50/FVC compared with the control, and QZYQ improved these changes. In addition, QZYQ effectively reduced emphysema, immune cell infiltration, and airway remodeling. QZYQ stimulated HO-1 expression and reduced oxidative stress through the Nrf2 pathway. QZYQ inhibited the production of NLRP3/ASC/Caspase-1 to inhibit IL-1β and IL-18.
Conclusion: Our study suggested that QZYQ can improve the function and histology of the lungs and reduce inflammatory cell recruitment. QZYQ inhibits ROS production and NLRP3 inflammasome activation by upregulating Nrf2 to reduce lung injury. The anti-inflammatory effects of QZYQ are similar to those of DEX.

Abstract: Introduction: The effect of Yiqi Fumai lyophilized injection (YQFM) on acute heart failure (AHF ...

Abstract Introduction: The effect of Yiqi Fumai lyophilized injection (YQFM) on acute heart failure (AHF) patients has been evaluated in a large sample, randomized, controlled trial (AUGUST-AHF RCT study). However, restrictive eligibility criteria from a randomized clinical trial may raise concerns about the generalizability of the results to under-represented groups or complex patients with multimorbidity. Therefore, we intend to conduct the AUGUST-AHF cohort study which aims to assess the effectiveness of YQFM in patients with AHF in a real-world setting and compare the results with AUGUST-AHF RCT study.
Methods and analysis: This prospective, multicenter cohort study will be conducted at 50 secondary and tertiary hospitals in China and comprise 1,200 patients with AHF. The participants will be followed for up to at least 180 days. The primary outcome is a composite of 90-day all-cause mortality or readmission for heart failure. The secondary outcomes include length of hospital stay, cardiac-specific death, MACE, NYHA cardiac function classification. Cox proportional-hazards regression models will be used to estimate the association between YQFM use and the primary outcome. The primary analysis will use propensity-score matching methods to balance the differences in baseline variables between treatment cohorts.
Ethics and dissemination: Approval for the study has been obtained from the Ethical Committee of Dongzhimen Hospital (approval No. 2022DZMEC-327-02) and registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05586048). The study results will be published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at scientific conferences.

Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance: Jiawei Buzhong Yiqi Decoction (JWBZYQ), from records of FuqingzhuNvke, is a classical formula for treating obese women related infertility. JWBZYQ has been shown to be effective in treating polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in both clinical studies and practical practice, with the pharmacological mechanism remaining unknown.
Aim of the study: To explore the potential therapeutic effects and mechanistic insights of JWBZYQ in PCOS.
Materials and methods: An overweight PCOS rat model was established via testosterone propionate (TP) injection and 45% high-fat diet (HFD). Then they were categorized into five distinct groups: Control group, Model group, low-dose of JWBZYQ (JWBZYQ1) group, high-dose of JWBZYQ (JWBZYQ2) group, and metformin (Met) group. Body weight, estrous cycle, and sex hormone levels were observed. Hematoxylin-Eosin staining was employed to investigate the histological characteristics of the ovaries. To identify the pathways that changed significantly, transcriptome analysis was performed. The protein and mRNA levels of key molecules in ovarian zona pellucida (ZP) organization, transzonal projections (TZPs) assembly, steroid hormone receptors, and steroidogenesis were assessed using phalloidin staining, immunohistochemistry, Western blot, and polymerase chain reaction.
Results: RNA-seq analysis demonstrated that regulation of hormone secretion, cilium assembly, cell projection assembly, and ZP production may all have crucial impact on the etiology of PCOS and therapeutic effect of JWBZYQ. In particular, PCOS rats exhibited elevated expressions of ZP1-3, which can be reversed by JWBZYQ2 particularly. Simultaneously, TZPs assembly was totally disrupted in PCOS rats, evidenced by the phalloidin staining, upregulated calcium-/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II beta (CaMKIIβ), and deficient p-CaMKIIβ, myosin X (MYO10), proline-rich tyrosine kinase 2 (PTK2), and Fascin. Nonetheless, JWBZYQ or metformin treatment revived the disturbance, repairing the oocyte-granulosa cell communication, regulating steroidogenesis in PCOS rats. In this way, JWBZYQ and metformin exerted remarkable effects in alleviating altered ovarian morphology and function in PCOS rats, with JWBZYQ2 revealing the best effect.
Conclusions: JWBZYQ restored the altered ovarian morphology and function by regulating the oocyte-granulosa cell communication, which was related with ZP organization and TZPs assembly in the ovary.

Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance: The prescription of Yiqi Jiedu decoction (YQJD) originated from the classic Chinese herbal prescriptions of Danggui Buxue Decoction and Wuzi Yanzong Pill. A previous study has shown that 4 Gy irradiation induced the apoptosis of spermatocytes and revealed autophagosomes in cells exposed to radiation. YQJD decoction has the effect of preventing radiation injury.
Aim of the study: We used spermatocytes (GC-2spd cell line) to investigate the relationship between autophagy and apoptosis of spermatogenic cells after radiation, and the mechanisms of YQJD decoction.
Materials and methods: Establish an in vitro radiation injury model by irradiating GC-2spd cells with
Results: Ionizing radiation promoted the growth of spermatogenic autophagosomes. After radiation, NF-κB was translocated to the nucleus, inflammatory factors were secreted, and IκBα/NF-κB pathway was activated, which promoted autophagy and apoptosis. YQJD decoction can inhibit the phosphorylation of IκBα/NF-κB pathway related factors, regulate the expression of Beclin-1 and Bcl-2 proteins, and inhibit the occurrence of autophagy and apoptosis of irradiated spermatocyte.
Conclusions: The research results indicate that ionizing radiation can activate the IκBα/NF-κB signaling pathway in spermatocytes, promote cell autophagy and apoptosis by regulating the expression of Beclin-1 and Bcl-2 factors. The YQJD decoction inhibits the IκBα/NF-κB signaling pathway so as to regulate Beclin-1 and Bcl-2.

Abstract Background: Xiezhuo Huayu Yiqi Tongluo Formula (XHYTF) consists of 14 Chinese herbal medicines. In this study, we investigated the potential mechanism of XHYTF in the treatment of uric acid nephropathy (UAN) through network pharmacology, molecular docking, and in vivo methods.
Methods: Using various pharmacological databases and analysis platforms, information on the active ingredients and targets of Chinese herbal medicine was collected, and UAN disease targets were retrieved using OMIM, Gene Cards, and NCBI. Then common target proteins were integrated. A Drug-Component-Target (D-C-T) map was constructed to screen core compounds and build a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network. Further, Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis were performed for common targets, and a Drug-Component-Target-Pathway (D-C-T-P) network diagram was constructed. The molecular docking simulation was performed to verify the binding affinity between core components and hub targets. Subsequently, the UAN rat model was established, followed by the collection of serum and renal tissues. The expression levels of indicators in the serum were determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The pathological changes of renal tissues were detected using H & E staining and Masson staining. The expression of related proteins in renal tissue was detected by western blot.
Results: In the study, 216 active ingredients and 439 targets in XHYTF were screened, and 868 targets were identified as being related to UAN. Among them, 115 were common targets. Based on the D-C-T network, quercetin, luteolin,
Conclusion: Collectively, our observations demonstrated that XHYTF significantly protects kidney function, including alleviation of inflammation and renal fibrosis via multiple pathways. This study provided novel insights into the treatment of UAN using traditional Chinese medicines.

Abstract The alterations in vascular homeostasis are deeply involved in the development of numerous diseases, such as coronary heart disease, stroke, and diabetic complications. Changes in blood flow and endothelial permeability caused by vascular dysfunction are the common mechanisms for these three types of diseases. The disorders of glucose and lipid metabolism can bring changes in the energy production patterns in endothelium and surrounding cells which may consequently cause energy metabolic disorders, oxidative stress, and inflammatory responses. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) follows the principle of the "treatment by the syndrome differentiation." TCM considers coronary heart disease, stroke, and diabetes complications all as the type of Qi-deficiency and blood stasis syndrome, which mainly occurs in the vascular system. Therefore, the common pathogenesis of these three types of diseases suggests that the treatment strategy by TCM should be in a close manner and referred to as "treating different diseases by the same treatment." Qishen Yiqi dripping pill is a modern Chinese herbal medicine that has been widely used for the treatment of patients with coronary heart disease characterized as Qi-deficiency and blood stasis in China. Recently, many clinical reports have demonstrated the potential therapeutic effects of Qishen Yiqi dripping pills on ischemic stroke and diabetic nephropathy. Based on these reports, we will summarize the clinical applications of Qishen Yiqi dripping pills on coronary heart disease, ischemic stroke, and diabetic nephropathy, including the involved mechanisms discussed in various research works.
