Fatigue-Aware Network for Click-Through Rate Prediction in E-commerce Recommendation

Abstract Since clicks usually contain heavy noise, increasing research efforts have been devoted to modeling implicit negative user behaviors (i.e., non-clicks). However, they either rely on explicit negative user behaviors (e.g., dislikes) or simply treat non-clicks as negative feedback, failing to learn negative user interests comprehensively. In such situations, users may experience fatigue because of seeing too many similar recommendations. In this paper, we propose Fatigue-Aware Network (FAN), a novel CTR model that directly perceives user fatigue from non-clicks. Specifically, we first apply Fourier Transformation to the time series generated from non-clicks, obtaining its frequency spectrum which contains comprehensive information about user fatigue. Then the frequency spectrum is modulated by category information of the target item to model the bias that both the upper bound of fatigue and users' patience is different for different categories. Moreover, a gating network is adopted to model the confidence of user fatigue and an auxiliary task is designed to guide the learning of user fatigue, so we can obtain a well-learned fatigue representation and combine it with user interests for the final CTR prediction. Experimental results on real-world datasets validate the superiority of FAN and online A/B tests also show FAN outperforms representative CTR models significantly.

Abstract A key component of integrated vector management strategies is the efficient implementation of mosquito traps for surveillance and control. Numerous trap types have been created with distinct designs and capture mechanisms, but identification of the most effective trap type is critical for effective implementation. For dengue vector surveillance, previous studies have demonstrated that active traps utilizing CO

Abstract In space-division-multiplexed transmission systems, it is essential to realize fan-in/fan-out devices that connect the cores between multicore fibers and single-mode fibers. In this Letter, we propose a metasurface-based fan-in/fan-out device with nonuniform phase plates for heterogeneous 19-core fibers across the full C band. Our results show that an average insertion loss of 0.85 dB and a maximum crosstalk of -25.5 dB can be achieved at 1550 nm. Across the C band, the insertion loss and crosstalk are better than 2.78 dB and -19.96 dB, respectively. The proposed concept can flexibly handle various fiber configurations without additional complexity.

Abstract We present a rapid and precise method to design the multiple step-index bridge fiber for ultra-low insertion loss few-mode multi-core fiber Fan-in/Fan-out device. The genetic algorithm is applied to optimize the structural parameters to support multi-mode operation. Based on the proposed intelligent iteration platform, core-based multiplex/demultiplex optimization can be achieved with less than 1.0 dB insertion loss for the first 6 LP modes in space division multiplexing system consisting of few-mode multi-core fibers. Besides, we have successfully drew the designed bridge fiber and fabricated the corresponding Fan-in/Fan-out device. When connecting it with the single-core 6-mode fiber and 7-core 6-mode fiber, the average insertion losses of mode LP01, LP11a, LP11b, LP21a, LP21b, and LP02 are 0.88 dB, 1.11 dB, 1.07 dB, 1.42 dB, 1.33 dB, and 1.04 dB, respectively.

Abstract Sociological studies on the manifestations and reproduction of inequality through cultural consumption have focused on few domains of culture and have mostly neglected intensity in consumption. Using large-scale survey data about professional sports following in Canada, we investigate how socioeconomic position is associated with intensity of professional sports following ("voraciousness"). Our multinomial logistic regression analyses suggest that social class, gender, and geography are predictors of voraciousness in each of the major professional sports leagues. Our latent class analysis (LCA) reveals seven sports following profiles marked by differences in range and intensity of following. We find that the most voracious sport followers are also the most omnivorous but are not distinctively the most privileged group. Findings suggest a distinct sport following profile of the predominantly male and economically dominant group in the field of social classes and point toward groups of sport followers with different styles of aversion and passing knowledge, perhaps in a type of deployment of Bourdieu's (1984) disinterested aesthetic. Overall, however, gender and region appear to be stronger predictors of voraciousness in sports following than social class in the Canadian context.

Abstract Absence of any surface arc state has been regarded as the fundamental property of singular Weyl points, because they are circumvented from the Nielsen-Ninomiya no-go theorem. In this work, through systematic investigations on topological properties of isolated Weyl phonons (IWPs) surrounded by closed Weyl nodal walls (WNWs), which are located at the Brillouin zone (BZ) boundaries of bosonic systems, it uncovers that a new kind of phononic surface state, that is, the multi-fold fan-shape surface state named by us, is exhibited to connect the projections of IWP and WNWs. Importantly, the number of fan leaves in this surface state is associated with the Chern number of IWP. Moreover, the topological features of charge-two IWP in K

Abstract Recently, the importance of mechanical facilities in charge of the safety and comfort of occupants in buildings has once again been highlighted in accordance with global social issues such as the spread of COVID-19. In response, various ventilation systems are being developed to improve indoor air quality, and efforts are being made to satisfy the indoor comfort of the occupants. Such advanced facilities allow occupants to secure indoor air quality, while frequent ventilation systems can affect the cooling and heating load in the building, and there is also a problem that it can occupy a relatively large amount of space in the building. This study proposes an integrated, outdoor fan-ventilated cooling device and analyzes its performance and economic efficiency. The EnergyPlus simulation program was used to model two types of systems for comparison: an existing (base) model with a condenser located in the outdoor unit, and a developed model with the condenser integrated within the cooling system. The state of the air passing through the condenser was analyzed prior to comparing the efficiency of the integrated, outdoor fan-ventilated cooling device, followed by an in-depth analysis of the performance and economic efficiency based on total energy consumption. In Case 1, the air passing through the cooling system was approximately 5

Abstract In order to investigate the impact of blade tip winglet position on the internal flow and noise characteristics of axial flow fans, three different blade tip winglets, namely the TSW blade, the SSW blade, and the PSW blade, were hereby proposed. The accuracy of the simulation model was verified through experiments, and the circumferential internal flow characteristics and noise characteristics of these different blades were studied by numerical simulation using the blade tip partition method. The calculation results indicated the high-level efficiency of TSW, SSW and PSW blades in reducing the blade tip leakage flow in Z1 and Z2 regions and suppressing its circumferential propagation in the Z3 region. Besides, it was found that SSW blade and PSW blade had larger total pressure loss relative to Ori blade, and that TSW had higher total pressure difference at low blade height. Additionally TSW blades performed the best in improving the blade tip blockage, while TSW, SSW and PSW blades effectively reduced the leakage flow against the main stream, and blade tip winglet blades could effectively improve the fan discrete noise, SSW had the most significant noise reduction effect in the total sound pressure level, and in the overall blade,Z1, Z2 and Z3 were reduced by 2.16 dB,1.68 dB,2.24 dB and 3.74 dB.

Abstract Background and purpose: A recently developed biology-guided radiotherapy platform, equipped with positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT), provides both anatomical and functional image guidance for radiotherapy. This study aimed to characterize performance of the kilovoltage CT (kVCT) system on this platform using standard quality metrics measured on phantom and patient images, using CT simulator images as reference.
Materials and methods: Image quality metrics, including spatial resolution/modular transfer function (MTF), slice sensitivity profile (SSP), noise performance and image uniformity, contrast-noise ratio (CNR) and low-contrast resolution, geometric accuracy, and CT number (HU) accuracy, were evaluated on phantom images. Patient images were evaluated mainly qualitatively.
Results: On phantom images the MTF
Conclusions: Major image quality metrics of the PET/CT Linac kVCT were within vendor-recommended tolerances. Better spatial resolution but higher noise and better/comparable low contrast visibility were observed as compared to a CT simulator when images were acquired with clinical protocols.

Abstract We describe a novel scanning approach for miniaturized photoacoustic tomography (PAT), based on fan-shaped scanning of a single transducer at one or two discrete positions. This approach is tested and evaluated using several phantom and animal experiments. The results obtained show that this new scanning approach provides high image quality in the configuration of miniaturized handheld or endoscopic PAT with improved effective field of view and penetration depth.
