Abstract: A reaction of a cyclic trinuclear copper(I) or silver(I) pyrazolate complex ([MPz] 3 , M = Cu, Ag) with 1,1′-dimethyl-2,2’-bibenzimidazole ( L ) leads to the formation of tetranuclear adducts decorated by one or two molecules of a diimine ligand, ... ...

Abstract A reaction of a cyclic trinuclear copper(I) or silver(I) pyrazolate complex ([MPz] 3 , M = Cu, Ag) with 1,1′-dimethyl-2,2’-bibenzimidazole ( L ) leads to the formation of tetranuclear adducts decorated by one or two molecules of a diimine ligand, depending on the amount of the ligand added (0.75 or 1.5 equivalents). The coordination of two L molecules stabilizes the formation of a practically idealized tetrahedral four-metal core in the case of a copper-containing complex and a distorted tetrahedron in the case of a Ag analog. In contrast, complexes containing one molecule of diimine possess two types of metals, two- and three-coordinated, forming the significantly distorted central M 4 cores. The diimine ligands are twisted in these complexes with dihedral angles of ca. 50–60°. A TD-DFT analysis demonstrated the preference of a triplet state for the twisted 1,1′-dimethyl-2,2’-bibenzimidazole and a singlet state for the planar geometry. All obtained complexes demonstrated, in a solution, the blue fluorescence of the ligand-centered (LC) nature typical for free diimine. In contrast, a temperature decrease to 77 K stabilized the structure close to that observed in the solid state and activated the triplet states, leading to green phosphorescence at ca. 500 nm. The silver-containing complex Ag 4 Pz 4 L exhibited dual emission from both the singlet and triplet states, even at room temperature.

Abstract In this study, we characterized recombinant hemagglutinin (HA) of influenza A (H5N8) virus produced in Chinese hamster ovary cells (CHO-K1s). Immunochemical analysis showed that the recombinant hemagglutinin was recognized by the serum of ferrets infected with influenza A (H5N8) virus, indicating that its antigenic properties were retained. Two groups of Balb/c mice were immunized with intramuscular injection of recombinant hemagglutinin or propiolactone inactivated A/Astrakhan/3212/2020 (H5N8) influenza virus. The results demonstrated that both immunogens induced a specific antibody response as determined by ELISA. Virus neutralization assay revealed that sera of immunized animals were able to neutralize A/turkey/Stavropol/320-01/2020 (H5N8) influenza virus-the average neutralizing titer was 2560. Immunization with both recombinant HA/H5 hemagglutinin and inactivated virus gave 100% protection against lethal H5N8 virus challenge. This study shows that recombinant HA (H5N8) protein may be a useful antigen candidate for developing subunit vaccines against influenza A (H5N8) virus with suitable immunogenicity and protective efficacy.

Abstract Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is known to cause annual epidemics of respiratory infections; however, the lack of specific treatment options for this disease poses a challenge. In light of this, there has been a concerted effort to identify small molecules that can effectively combat RSV. This article focuses on the mechanism of action of compound K142, which was identified as a primary screening leader in the earlier stages of the project. The research conducted demonstrates that K142 significantly reduces the intensity of virus penetration into the cells, as well as the formation of syncytia from infected cells. These findings show that the compound's interaction with the surface proteins of RSV is a key factor in its antiviral activity. Furthermore, pharmacological modeling supports that K142 effectively interacts with the F-protein. However, in vivo studies have shown only weak antiviral activity against RSV infection, with a slight decrease in viral load observed in lung tissues. As a result, there is a need to enhance the bioavailability or antiviral properties of this compound. Based on these findings, we hypothesize that further modifications of the compound under study could potentially increase its antiviral activity.

Abstract The characteristic resistance of dorsopathies to conventional therapy explains the attention to new technologies that combine several therapeutic links and, in particular, ozone therapy. The study involved 90 patients under the age of 55 in the exacerbation phase of lumbar and sacrum dorsopathy with the leading vascular component. The patients were divided into three groups, in which basic medical and physical treatment was given. At the same time, ozone therapy was used the first two groups: the 1st group received standard ozone therapy, with a predominant selection of algic zones, the 2nd - according to the rules of biopuncture, affecting the complex of segmental, distant and "vascular" points. In the 3rd control group, the correction was limited to a standard therapeutic complex. The verification of the observed changes was carried out through clinical, psychological and electrophysiological analysis. As a result, both ozone therapy schemes (effective in 69% and 73% of observations respectively) were found to have a reliable advantage over the base complex, where 49% of patients demonstrated improvement. Differences within the ozone therapy groups themselves related to the achievement of a stable effect (in the 2nd group 2.6 days earlier) and the degree of reduction of vaso-reflex reactions (observed in 50% and 75% of observations respectively). Thus, by bringing in additional control methods, it has been proven that the implementation of ozone therapy in compliance with the rules of biopuncture ensures faster and more sustainable effects.

Abstract We present a collection of 295 gauge locations in mountainous Central Asia with norm discharge as well as time series of river discharge from 135 of these locations collected from hydrological yearbooks in Central Asia. Time series have monthly, 10-day and daily temporal resolution and are available for different duration. A collection of third-party data allows basin characterization for all gauges. The time series data is validated using standard quality checks. Norm discharge is validated against literature values and by using a water balance approach. The novelty of the data consists in the combination of discharge time series and gauge locations for mountainous rivers in Central Asia which is not available anywhere else. The geo-located discharge time series can be used for water balance modelling and training of forecast models for river runoff in mountainous Central Asia.

Abstract Investigating the size distributions of Co nanoparticle ensembles is an important problem, which has no straightforward solution. In this work, we use the combination of 59Co internal field nuclear magnetic resonance (59Co IF NMR) and ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) spectroscopies on a metallic Co nanoparticle sample with a narrow Co nanoparticle size distribution due to encapsulation within the inner channels of carbon nanotubes. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images showed that the nanoparticles can be represented as prolate spheroids, with the majority of particles having an aspect ratio between 1 and 2. This observation has increased the accuracy of superparamagnetic blocking size calculations from Néel relaxation model by introducing the actual volume of the ellipsoids taken from the image processing. 59Co IF NMR and FMR experiments conducted under different temperatures allowed us to observe the thermal blocking of superparamagnetic particles in full accordance with the TEM particle volume distribution. This proved that these magnetic resonance techniques can be used jointly for characterization of Co nanoparticles in the bulk of the sample.

Abstract Intraerythrocytic protozoan parasites from the genera Babesia and Theileria may infect a wide range of animals and humans. The purpose of this study was to detect the 18S ribosomal RNA gene of Babesia spp. and Theileria spp. in ticks collected from household cows in the Republic of Guinea from 2017 to 2018 by PCR and then genotype the gene fragments by sequencing. A total of 907 ticks from 319 cows were collected in seven prefectures of Guinea (Boke, Faranah, Kankan, Kindia, Labe, Mamou and N'Zerekore). The following tick species on cattle were identified: Amblyomma variegatum (44.2%), Rhipicephalus decoloratus (34.7%), Rh. annulatus (10.3%), Rh. geigyi (7.3%) Hyalomma truncatum (2.4%), Rh. senegalensis (0.8%) and Haemaphysalis leachi (0.6%). Genetic markers for piroplasms were found in Am. variegatum, Rh. decoloratus, Rh. annulatus, and Rh. geigyi ticks, and the total infection rate for these ticks was 4.2%. The highest infection rate was found in Rh. annulatus ticks (10.9%). The piroplasms were genotyped as Babesia caballi, Theileria mutans and Theileria velifera by phylogenetic analysis of the 1150 bp 18S ribosomal RNA gene fragments. These pathogens were discovered in practically all studied prefectures in Guinea except for Mamou Prefecture. We propose that these ixodid ticks might play a major role in the transmission of piroplasm infections in domestic animals in Guinea.
