Abstract This study integrates the elaboration likelihood model, institutional theory, and the image management perspective to identify the internal and external forces that can effectively drive firms to adopt a green supply chain. Using survey data from a sample of 246 firms in the Chinese manufacturing sector, we empirically examine how the internal green process and green product innovation of firms and different types of external institutional pressures contribute to their adoption of a green supply chain, which in turn can explain the variation in their environmental and new-product development performance. Results of our structural equation modeling analysis reveal that the internal green process and green product innovation of firms and three types of external institutional pressures (i.e., coercive, normative, and mimetic pressures) play an important role in driving green supply chain adoption. Moreover, firms can improve their environmental and new-product development performance by adopting a green supply chain. In addition, though the image management motivation of firms tends to play a negative moderating role in the relationship between their green process innovation and green supply chain adoption, such motivation positively moderates the contribution of coercive pressure to their green supply chain adoption. Our findings can help explain why emerging-market firms tend to adopt a green supply chain and do not follow the pattern predicted by classical strategic management theories. The results of our study clearly demonstrate the determinants and consequences of the adoption of a green supply chain of firms and confirm that their green supply chain adoption can exert a positive effect on their environmental and new-product development performance. Overall, our research highlights the importance of recognizing internal innovation and external institutional forces in driving the green supply chain adoption of firms, which in turn will contribute to their environmental and new-product development performance. ...

Abstract Due to the increasing rate of economic development and the increasingly serious problem of environmental degradation, environmental information disclosure has become an important basis for promoting carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and an important way for enterprises to carry out green governance to achieve sustainable development. This study uses empirical research methods to analyze the relationship between environmental information disclosure and corporate sustainable growth in the context of green governance using panel data of Chinese A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2012 to 2021. The empirical tests conclude that there is a U-shaped relationship between environmental information disclosure and corporate sustainable growth, which decreases and then increases, and the U-shaped relationship is transmitted through innovation inputs. The U-shaped relationship between environmental information disclosure and corporate sustainable growth is weakened by firm size and enhanced by equity incentives. In addition, further group analysis reveals that the above U-shaped relationship is more significant in non-state enterprises than in state-owned enterprises.

Abstract In this work, the topological effect on binding interaction between a G-quadruplex and thioflavin T (ThT) ligand was systematically investigated on a platform of an intramolecular split G-quadruplex (Intra-SG). Distinct fluorescence changes from ThT were presented in the presence of distinct split modes of Intra-SG structures and an intriguing phenomenon of target-induced fluorescence light-up occurred for split modes 2 : 10, 5 : 7 and 8 : 4. It was validated that hybridization between the Intra-SG spacer and target did not unfold the G-quadruplex, but facilitated the ThT binding. Moreover, the 3' guanine-rich fragment of Intra-SG was very susceptible to topology variation produced by the bound target strand. Additionally, a bioanalytical method was developed for ultrasensitive gene detection, confirming the utility of the ThT/Intra-SG complex as a universal signal transducer. It is believed that the results and disclosed rules will inspire researchers to develop many new DNA-based signal transducers in the future.

Abstract H. pylori is a gram-negative bacterium that is usually acquired in childhood and can persistently colonize the gastric mucosa of humans, affecting approximately half of the world's population. In recent years, the prevalence of H. pylori infection has steadily reduced while the risk of allergic diseases has steadily climbed. As a result, epidemiological research indicates a strong negative association between the two. Moreover, numerous experimental studies have demonstrated that eradicating H. pylori increases the risk of allergic diseases. Hence, it is hypothesized that H. pylori infection may act as a safeguard against allergic diseases. The hygiene hypothesis, alterations in gut microbiota, the development of tolerogenic dendritic cells, and helper T cells could all be involved in H. pylori's ability to protect against asthma. Furthermore, Studies on mice models have indicated that H. pylori and its extracts are crucial in the management of asthma. We reviewed the in-depth studies on the most recent developments in the relationship between H. pylori infection and allergic diseases, and we discussed potential mechanisms of the infection's protective effect on asthma in terms of microbiota and immunity. We also investigated the prospect of the application of H. pylori and its related components in asthma, so as to provide a new perspective for the prevention or treatment of allergic diseases.

Abstract What is the impact of environmental management system certification on green innovation performance, and is it a futile endeavor or a profitable one? Grounded in the principles of ecological civilization construction and green development, this study embarks on a comprehensive examination. Initially, it investigates the varying impacts of environmental management system certification on both traditional innovation performance and green innovation performance. Subsequently, it dissects the underlying mechanisms and moderating factors influencing the latter, including an exploration of intermediary effects. The empirical findings of this study are as follows: (i) Environmental management system certification emerges as a catalyst for innovation performance, with the primary impact observed in the realm of green innovation performance. (ii) Social responsibility disclosure is identified as a mediating factor in the relationship between environmental management system certification and green innovation performance. (iii) Larger enterprises, those equipped with robust equity incentives, and those operating in less competitive markets are more prone to benefit from the impact of environmental management system certification on social responsibility disclosure. This, in turn, amplifies the promotion of green innovation performance. However, the moderating effect of property rights on the mediating path remains statistically insignificant. (iv) Environmental management system certification exerts a more pronounced influence on green innovation performance in regions characterized by lower economic development. Moreover, it particularly stimulates exploratory green innovation performance, surpassing its impact on exploitative green innovation performance.
