Abstract Objectives: We aimed to determine whether body mass index (BMI) is a prognostic indicator for long-term, all-cause mortality in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).
Background: Obesity in patients with established cardiovascular disease has previously been identified as an indicator of good prognosis, a phenomenon known as the "obesity paradox". The prognostic significance of BMI in patients with severe aortic stenosis (AoS) undergoing TAVI is a matter of current debate, as published studies are scarce and their results conflicting.
Methods: This is an observational, retrospective study involving 770 patients who underwent TAVI for AoS. The cohort was divided into three groups based on their BMI: normal weight (≥18.5 to <25kg/m
Results: 155 patients died during follow-up. The overweight group (n=302, 38.97%), experienced a lower mortality rate compared to the normal weight and obese groups (15.9% vs 25.7% and 21.0%, respectively [log-rank p-value=0.036]). After adjustment by logistic EuroSCORE, being overweight was found to be an independent protective factor against mortality (HR: 0.63 [95% CI: 0.42 to 0.94], p=0.024). This was not the case for obesity (HR: 0.92 [95% CI: 0.63 to 1.35], p=0.664). We therefore describe for the first time, a "J-shaped" regression curve describing the relationship between BMI and mortality.
Conclusions: BMI is a predictive factor of all-cause mortality in AoS patients undergoing TAVI. This relationship takes the form of a "J-shaped" curve in which overweight patients are associated with the lowest mortality rate at follow-up.

Title translation Comparative study of continuity of treatment between patients with substance use disorder and patients with dual pathology in Fernández Hospital, Argentina.
Abstract Epidemiological studies on dual pathology reveal that these patients have less adherence to treatment and worse evolution than non-dual patients. However, most of the studies come from mental health centers and not from addiction centers, and local studies are scarce. Our purpose was to compare the continuity in the treatment for addiction between patients with and without associated psychosis. A retrospective, observational, longitudinal and analytical review of the clinical records of the patients we attended in the hospital over a year was conducted. We found a continuity of treatment in patients with psychotic disorder associated with the 1st, 3rd and 6th month, 70%, 44.44% and 22.22% respectively and 69%, 32.71 % and 14.84% in patients without psychosis. The differences observed in the greater continuity in the treatment in patients with psychosis are not statistically significant (p = 0.91, p = 0.86 and p = 0.53 at the 1st, 3rd and 6th month, respectively). Contrary to the current bibliography in dual pathology, in our clinical experience, psychotic patients with substance dependence disorders have no less continuity in treatment than non-psychotic patients.

Title translation Comparative study of ureteral anastomosis with or without double-J catheterization in renal transplantation.
Abstract Objective: To analyze the impact of the use of the routine double-J stent in the incidence of urological complications, like fistula, stenosis, ureteral obstruction and urinary tract infection.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on two groups of patients: 28 without double-J stent and 28 with it. We reviewed urological complications: stenosis, fistula and obstruction. We paid special attention to urinary tract infection and other inherents complications to the use of double-J stents.
Results: A patient from the double-J stended group (3.6%) developed a urinary fistula and there were no obstructions. 13 patients (46.6%) had a positive urinary culture in the first month post RT. Two urinary fistulas and 4 obstructions were developed in the non-stended group. Six major complications of the urinary tract. 14 patients (50%) had a positive urinary culture in the first month post RT.
Conclusions: The use of double-J stent across uterovesical anastomosis decreases the post-RT ureteral complications. Stent placement does not increase the risk of urinary tract infection in the early post-RT.

Title translation Assessment of double-J ureteral catheters at a lithotripsy unit: our experience.
Abstract The present study evaluated a total of 350 patients who underwent placement of double-J catheters as a result of their lithiasic condition. The work includes a review of the patients' urological background, indication for the double-J placement, tolerance to catheter, time of permanence, reason for withdrawal, presence of encrustations in the catheter and relationship between all these parameters. A significant increase of adverse symptoms was observed when permanence of the double-J catheter lasted longer than 6 weeks. Likewise, there was a significant increase in the number of encrustations in catheters retained longer than 6 weeks, as well as when the lithiasic mass was meaningful and urine cultures were positive. The authors consider that double-J catheters effectively prevent the complications of the lithiasic condition but an excessively long permanence, more than 6 weeks, increases occurrence of side-effects significantly.

Title translation Bone lithiasis in the period of the Enlightenment: D.F.J.B. Trehet.
Abstract Objective: To briefly describe the life and works of D.F.J.B. Trehet, a physician of the city of Rouen (France), who was the first to describe the "osseous points" in a renal calculus. Trèhet has not been recognized or referenced for this original observation in the urological publications.
Methods: Trehet lived in the period of the Enlightenment and endured the upheavals of the French Revolution. Data gleaned from several sources have permitted and elaborate description of this French physician from both the social and professional perspectives.
Results: After completing his studies at the Hôtel Dieu in Rouen, D.F.J.B. Trehet pursued his education at the School of Health in Paris. He read his doctorate's thesis at the Paris School of Medicine in 1803 and published his observation of a renal calculus "with osseous points" in 1812. Other studies by D.F.J.B. Trehet were also published in Le Journal de Médecine, Chirurgie et Pharmacie.
Conclusions: D.F.J.B. Trehet should be recognized as the first to describe an osseous renal calculus.
