Abstract Artistic images of animal characters in beast stories studied through the prism of national mentality reveal specific animal-human concepts rooted in the readers’ mindsets. This essay focuses on the hare/rabbit as a popular character in animal tales, with an attempt to enhance intercultural relations in the Ukrainian/English world by explaining the peculiarities of the surrounding reality present in beast stories. The paper discloses similar and distinctive characteristics of animal stories on two levels, that is, by contrasting the author’s literary tale with the folk-tale, and by studying the collective image of hare in Ukrainian folk-tales against the background of Peter Rabbit from Beatrix Potter’s stories. The research does not dwell on the zoological peculiarities of the chosen animals or the Aesop fables, but highlights the psychological characteristics of the animals under study in the context of their “national identities”. The work results in disclosing a deep connection between games and animal tales; since both the storyteller’s and the audience’s mental work is based on the game-like perception of the virtual world of the story. The literary images of the hare/rabbit in Ukrainian and British tales differ radically. Ukrainian animals are presented as meek and subdued creatures relying on outside help and rarely (ranking sixth amongst animal protagonists) becoming the leading characters. In contrast, British bunnies are energetic and boisterous, trying their best to overcome any difficulties. The authors explain this fact by references to differences in the historical development of the two cultures under analysis.

Abstract Most academic circles treat fanfiction as “paraliterature” (Krauss, 1980) created by fans of a certain literary work. Fanfiction (also abbreviated to fan fic, fanfic, or fic) presents a new field of analysis not only for literature, but also for linguistic studies. The current paper aims at combining the research practices of both of them in order to disclose the literary and lingual essence of fanfics within J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter universe. For this purpose, we have made an attempt to apply the cognitive theory of Gestalt (introduced into the research world by the well-known psychologist Max Wertheimer) to the lingual analysis of fanfiction. We shall argue that in the three fanfics studied, the virtual images of Harry Potter, Hermione and Ron are preserved on the level of their individual speech Gestalts. We shall also argue that the fanfic author’s personal sympathies may change at least one of the characters’ profiles within a fanfic, while leaving the rest of them mostly unchanged so as to serve as an easily recognized background for the favorite personage. In other words, the author’s angle of vision structures not only a fanfic’s narrative, but it may also re-build the artistic and speech image(s) of one or more characters, though preserving the others’ images as given in the canon text.

Abstract The Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 caused major disruptions of societal functions, including health care. Patients receiving medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) depend on receiving daily treatment and face a risk of withdrawal in case of medication supply disruption. MOUD are banned in Russia, making treatment continuation impossible in temporarily occupied areas. In this paper, we review the situation with MOUD delivery in Ukraine during the first year of the Russia-Ukraine war. Legislative changes and mobilization of efforts in the time of crisis ensured treatment continuation for thousands of patients. In areas controlled by Ukraine, most patients were receiving take-home doses for up to 30 days, some experienced temporary dosing reductions. Programs in temporarily occupied regions were shut down likely leading to abrupt withdrawal among many patients. At least 10% of patients have been internally displaced. One year into the war, the number of MOUD patients in governmental clinics of Ukraine increased by 17%, and the data suggest that the coverage of private clinics has also increased. But the risks for program stability remain high as the current medication supply relies on one manufacturing facility. Using lessons learned from the crisis, we provide recommendations for future response to minimize the risks of major adverse outcomes among patients treated for opioid use disorder.

Abstract Objective: The aim: The aim of this work was to study the effect of thyroid hormones on motor-secretory dysfunction in patients with GERD with concomitant AIT.
Patients and methods: Materials and methods: The study involved three groups of patients: with isolated GERD, GERD with AIT at the stage of hypothyroidism and GERD with AIT at the stage of hyperthyroidism. The control group consisted of 15 practically healthy individuals. GERD and AIT were diagnosed on the basis of ICD-10. All patients underwent a comprehensive examination, including ultrasound examination of the motor-evacuation function of the esophagus and stomach. Quality of life of patients was assessed by using the GIQLI questionnaire.
Results: Results: The most expressed complaints and low quality of life are observed among patients with combined pathology. The results of pH-metry indicate more severe course of GERD among patients with concomitant AIT. The most pronounced decrease in the tone of the lower esophageal sphincter and increased regurgitation were observed in the second group.
Conclusion: Conclusions: 1. It was found that more reliable motor-secretory disorders were observed among patients with GERD with concomitant AIT. 2. A close correlation was established between the severity of the clinical picture, the level of increased thyroid hormones and the degree of impairment of motor-secretory disorders among patients with GERD with concomitant AIT; 3. The results obtained indicate that changes in the metabolism of thyroid hormones are one of the factors involved in the mechanisms of GERD formation.

Abstract One of the problems of modernizing multimodal transportation of goods in post-Soviet countries is the optimization of the transport supply chain. This requires, in particular, a software package that is to be adapted to local conditions, to the expanded set of risks and the need, in general, to perform optimization on the base of fuzzy data. When choosing the objective function, it is necessary to take into account not only the cost of the specific option of route, the time of transportation, but also the degree of reliability of both the contractors and the infrastructure. For creating a mathematical model were used graph theory and fuzzy logic. Separate types of transport are considered as directed graphs. The set of directed graphs of modes of transport is a multidimensional graph, under the presence of connecting arcs between their nodes. These nodes represent the points of transshipment. The software package assesses the reliability of each section of the supply chain. The developed software package using the proposed mathematical model will allow improving multimodal transportation of goods.

Abstract Background: The efficacy of daily oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in preventing HIV transmission among people who inject drugs (PWID) was demonstrated over a decade ago. However, only a few studies among PWID have since measured PrEP adherence using laboratory markers.
Methods: In this trial, we randomized recently injecting PWID in Kyiv, Ukraine, to receive daily oral TDF/FTC with or without SMS reminders. Enrollment and PrEP initiation took place at an HIV clinic. Subsequent visits at months 1, 3, and 6 were conducted at a community harm reduction center and included a structured interview, adherence counseling, PrEP dispensing, and dried blood spot collection. PrEP adherence was assessed using standard self-reported measures and TDF/FTC biomarkers.
Results: A total of 199 PWID (99 SMS, 100 No-SMS) were enrolled, of whom 24 % were women, with a median age of 37. At month 6, 79.4 % (158/199) of participants were retained, with 84 % (133/158) reporting opioid injection and 20 % (31/158) reporting stimulant injection in the past 30 days. 77 % (122/158) reported taking >95 % of PrEP doses in the past month, and 87 % reported taking the last dose within 2 days. Tenofovir diphosphate was detected in 17 % (28/158) of participants, and emtricitabine triphosphate was detected in 25 % (40/158). Only 3 % (5/158) had metabolite levels indicative of consistent PrEP uptake at 4+ doses per week. There was no association between the SMS intervention and TDF/FTC metabolite detection.
Conclusion: Adherence to daily oral PrEP among actively injecting PWID, without daily supervision or incentives, was extremely low, despite supportive counseling and SMS reminders. We also observed a high rate of discordance between self-report and classification by a validated biomarker of adherence. Given the scarcity of evidence and emerging data suggesting low oral PrEP adherence among PWID, additional implementation studies with TDF/FTC biomarkers are needed to study whether a sufficient level of adherence to daily PrEP is attainable among PWID, especially as long-acting injectable PrEP offers a promising alternative.

Abstract The subject matter of the article is the results of department educational processes reengineering, which was conducted at the Department of Land Administration and Geographic Information Systems of O. M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy. The current article introduces the scientific community with the results of reengineering at the department, which made it possible to implement certain conceptual and fundamental provisions of the dual, digital, and cluster approaches in the development of education. The problem, which resolves the contradiction between the standardization of learning processes by traditional methods and innovative learning processes based on the use of intelligent information technologies, is devised. Based on the analysis of the tendencies in the development of pedagogy methodology, it was concluded that today the methodological paradigms in the science of teaching and the formation of a new methodological paradigm of educology were changed. Cybernetic pedagogy, which combines methods of traditional pedagogy and cybernetics, has had a significant impact on the formation of educalogy. This combination of methods created a support system for the educational processes of the department. The basic theoretical decisions of the department reengineering and results of experimental research conducted based on a support system of educational processes of the department are shown in the article. The results of two full-scale experiments are presented. The purpose of the first experiment was to evaluate the possibility of independent study of science-intensive educational material in the discipline "Mathematical processing of geodetic measurements," and for the second – to evaluate the possibility of creating an intellectual property exchange of scientific-pedagogical and pedagogical workers. Besides, the results of the experimental studies allowed to creation of innovative authoring training technology "Partnership," which provides for participating students in the formation of educational ...
