    Abstract Search-based techniques have been widely used for white-box test generation. Many of these approaches rely on the approach level and branch distance heuristics to guide the search process and generate test cases with high line and branch coverage. Despite the positive results achieved by these two heuristics, they only use the information related to the coverage of explicit branches (e.g., indicated by conditional and loop statements), but ignore potential implicit branchings within basic blocks of code. If such implicit branching happens at runtime (e.g., if an exception is thrown in a branchless-method), the existing fitness functions cannot guide the search process. To address this issue, we introduce a new secondary objective, called Basic Block Coverage (BBC), which takes into account the coverage level of relevant basic blocks in the control flow graph. We evaluated the impact of BBC on search-based unit test generation (using the DynaMOSA algorithm) and search-based crash reproduction (using the STDistance and WeightedSum fitness functions). Our results show that for unit test generation, BBC improves the branch coverage of the generated tests. Although small (around 1.5%), this improvement in the branch coverage is systematic and leads to an increase of the output domain coverage and implicit runtime exception coverage, and of the diversity of runtime states. In terms of crash reproduction, in the combination of STDistance and WeightedSum, BBC helps in reproducing 3 new crashes for each fitness function. BBC significantly decreases the time required to reproduce 43.5% and 45.1% of the crashes using STDistance and WeightedSum, respectively. For these crashes, BBC reduces the consumed time by 71.7% (for STDistance) and 68.7% (for WeightedSum) on average.

    Abstract Objectives: Sealer remnants in the access cavity may negatively affect coronal seal and cause tooth discoloration. This study sought to evaluate the efficacy of different cleaning protocols for the sealer-contaminated access cavity.
    Materials and methods: Sixty extracted human molars were accessed, chemomechanically prepared and warm vertically obturated with gutta-percha and epoxy resin sealer. Teeth were randomly assigned to one control (air/water spray) and five test groups (n = 10): scrubbing with an ethanol-saturated cotton pellet (CP), scrubbing with an ethanol-saturated microbrush (MB), air polishing (ProphyFlex, KaVo), MB + air polishing and cleaning with a round bur. Each tooth was split sagittally, and the sealer-covered access cavity area (SCA) before and after cleaning was determined using image analysis software and compared pre- and post-operatively and across groups using paired samples t test and one-way ANOVA.
    Results: The SCA was significantly reduced in all test groups (P < 0.05), but not in the control group (P > 0.05). Highest epoxy resin sealer reductions were observed for MB (92%) and MB + air polishing (94%), yielding a significantly better SCA reduction than that of ethanol-saturated cotton pellet (58%), bur cleaning (69%) or air polishing alone (64%).
    Conclusions: All cleaning protocols except air/water spray reduced the amount of epoxy resin sealer in the access cavity, but none of them completely removed the sealer. Cleaning with the ethanol-saturated microbrush, with or without air polishing, performed better than the other methods.
    Clinical relevance: Scrubbing with an ethanol-saturated microbrush, with or without air polishing, was the most efficient method for cleaning the epoxy resin sealer-contaminated molar access cavity.

    Abstract Background: Anticoagulation is recommended to maintain the patency of the circuit in continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). However, anticoagulation-associated complications can occur. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the efficacy and safety of citrate anticoagulation to heparin anticoagulation in critically ill patients treated with CRRT.
    Methods: Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the safety and efficacy of citrate anticoagulation and heparin in CRRT were included. Articles not describing the incidence of metabolic and/or electrolyte disturbances induced by the anticoagulation strategy were excluded. The PubMed, Embase, and MEDLINE electronic databases were searched. The last search was performed on 18 February 2022.
    Results: Twelve articles comprising 1592 patients met the inclusion criteria. There was no significant difference between the groups in the development of metabolic alkalosis (RR = 1.46; (95% CI (0.52-4.11);
    Conclusion: regional citrate anticoagulation is a safe anticoagulant for critically ill patients who require CRRT, as no significant differences were found in metabolic complications between the groups. Additionally, citrate has a lower risk of bleeding and circuit loss than heparin.

    Abstract In reproductive medicine, the aim is to establish an optimal balance between cost-effectiveness, success rate and safety for the patient. In this thesis, a series of clinical studies are presented that all revolve around the optimisation of ovarian stimulation with GnRH antagonist co-treatment. Basal hormonal levels at the start of ovarian stimulation are mandatory to obtain acceptable pregnancy rates. In view of this, we focused on the impact of cycle day 2 progesterone levels on treatment outcome. By interfering in the early follicular phase, we tried to synchronise the follicular cohort and to increase the number of retrieved oocytes. Innovative treatment protocols based on GnRH antagonists should lead to a more flexible and better controlled schedule of oocyte retrievals. The inability to program the start of gonadotrophin stimulation and hence to minimise weekend oocyte retrievals is a major impediment to the widespread implementation of the GnRH antagonist protocol in fertility clinics. Because treatment schedule is important both for the patients, who wish to undergo reproductive treatment at their own convenience, and for the ART clinic, to organise the workload, we attempted to bring the schedule of egg retrievals in a GnRH antagonist protocol under improved control. Another important aim of our clinical research was to diminish patient discomfort and reduce side effects by a simplification of GnRH antagonist ovarian stimulation protocols. We also focused on significant reduction of FSH consumption by substitution of FSH by low dosages of hCG during the mid-late follicular phase, without impairing outcome in terms of oocyte yield and ongoing pregnancy rate or live birth rate.

    Abstract Walk-in patients who do not require urgent treatment at an emergency department (ED) are a known and long-standing problem. This study aims to investigate the characteristics of walk-in patients visiting the ED over time. During four days in June 2012, all walk-in patients attending the ED of the University Hospital Brussels between 8 AM and 11 PM were recorded. A similar registration took place in the same ED in June 2001. Patients completed a questionnaire about their characteristics and the reason for the encounter. Data of both study periods were compared. The mean age of the patients attending the ED was significantly lower in 2001 (40.9 years) than in 2012 (43.9 years) (p=0,02). In 2001, 81% of the participants had Belgian nationality, but in 2012 this proportion increased to 90% (p=0.008). In 2001 as well as in 2012, 21% of the participants had a referral from their family physician (FP) (p=0.9). The proportion of patients that were aware that FP could also handle some emergencies increased from 17% in 2001 to 29% in 2012 (p=0.003). More patients had complaints that begun less than 24h before they attended the ED (48% in 2001 and 58% in 2012) (p=0.03). The walk-in patients at the ED are getting slightly older and are attending the ED faster after the onset of the complaints. More patients judge their complaints as urgent. However, more patients are getting aware that FP also could handle some emergencies.

    Title translation Ovarian stimulation regimens in women with endometriosis.
    Abstract Controversies concerning the optimal treatment of endometriosis and its related infertility still exist, and few comparative studies are available. The number of oocytes retrieved and pregnancy rates seem to be higher after in vitro fertilization that follows long-term down-regulation with Gn-RH agonists, but the available studies are retrospective and do not allow definitive conclusion. No comparative studies are available between extra long and short Gn-RH agonist in women affected by endometriosis. No benefit of the use of danazol has been demonstrated in this indication. There are no data available on Gn-RH antagonist pretreatment before ovarian stimulation in patients with endometriosis undergoing assisted reproduction techniques. Endometrioma resection prior to IVF may compromise or destroy adjacent normal ovarian cortex and thus might reduce the ovarian reserve. Aspiration of endometrioma is associated with an increased risk of infection.
