    Abstract The $J/\psi \to \Xi^0 \bar{\Xi}^{0}$ process and subsequent decays are investigated using $(10087 \pm 44)\times 10^6$ $J/\psi$ events collected at the BESIII experiment. The decay parameters of $\Xi^0$ and $\bar{\Xi}^0$ are measured with greatly improved precision over previous measurements to be $\alpha_{\Xi} = -0.3750 \pm 0.0034 \pm 0.0016$, $\bar{\alpha}_{\Xi} = 0.3790 \pm 0.0034 \pm 0.0021$, $\phi_{\Xi} = 0.0051 \pm 0.0096 \pm 0.0018$~rad, $\bar{\phi}_{\Xi} = -0.0053 \pm 0.0097 \pm 0.0019$~rad, where the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. From these measurements, precise $CP$ symmetry tests in $\Xi^0$ decay are performed, and $A^{\Xi}_{CP} = (-5.4 \pm 6.5 \pm 3.1) \times 10^{-3}$ and $\Delta\phi^{\Xi}_{CP} = (-0.1 \pm 6.9 \pm 0.9) \times 10^{-3}$~rad are consistent with $CP$ conservation. The sequential decay also enables a separation of weak and strong phase differences, which are found for the first time to be $\xi_{P}-\xi_{S} = (0.0 \pm 1.7 \pm 0.2) \times 10^{-2}$~rad and $\delta_{P}-\delta_{S} = (-1.3 \pm 1.7 \pm 0.4)\times 10^{-2}$~rad, respectively. In addition, we measure the $\Lambda$ decay parameters and test $CP$ symmetry in $\Lambda$ decays.

Abstract: Background: Polyphosphate (polyP) promotes feedback activation of factor (F) XI by thrombin ...

Abstract Background: Polyphosphate (polyP) promotes feedback activation of factor (F) XI by thrombin by serving as a template. The contribution of thrombin's exosites to these interactions is unclear.
Objectives: To determine the contribution of thrombin exosites 1 and 2 to polyP-induced potentiation of FXI activation by thrombin.
Methods: The affinities of α-thrombin; K109E/110E-thrombin, an exosite 1 variant, or R93E-thrombin, an exosite 2 variant; FXI; and FXIa for polyP-70 were quantified using surface plasmon resonance in the absence or presence of exosite ligands. FXI was activated with α-thrombin or thrombin variants in the absence or presence of polyP-70 and exosite ligands.
Results: α-Thrombin, K109/110E-thrombin, FXI, and FXIa bound polyP-70, whereas R93E-thrombin exhibited minimal binding. Exosite 1 and exosite 2 ligands attenuated thrombin binding to polyP-70. PolyP-70 accelerated the rate of FXI activation by α-thrombin and K109E/110E-thrombin but not R93E-thrombin up to 1500-fold in a bell-shaped, concentration-responsive manner. Exosite 1 and exosite 2 ligands had no impact on FXI activation by thrombin in the absence of polyP-70; however, in its presence, they attenuated activation by 40% to 65%.
Conclusion: PolyP-70 binds FXI and thrombin and promotes their interaction. Exosite 2 ligands attenuate activation because thrombin binds polyP-70 via exosite 2. Attenuation of FXI activation by exosite 1 ligands likely reflects allosteric modulation of exosite 2 and/or the active site of thrombin because exosite 1 is not directly involved in FXI activation. Therefore, allosteric modulation of thrombin's exosites may represent a novel strategy for downregulating FXI activation.

Abstract Objectives: The relationship between the MELD-XI score, a modified version of the MELD score, and the long-term prognosis of hospitalized patients with chronic heart failure is unclear. The aim of this study was to determine the long-term prognostic relationship of MELD-XI score in patients with chronic heart failure.
Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of patients with chronic heart failure who were initially hospitalized in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from February 2017 to December 2017. The primary clinical outcome was all-cause mortality within 3 years. Cox regression and lasso regression were used to screen variables and build a prognostic model. Combined with the MELD-XI score, the final model was adjusted, and the predictive ability of the model was evaluated. Survival curves were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared by the log rank test.
Results: A total of 400 patients with chronic heart failure were included (median age 76 years, 51.5% female). During the 3-year follow-up period, there were 97 all-cause deaths, including 63 cardiac deaths. Six characteristic variables (NT-proBNP, BUN, RDW CV, Na
Conclusions: This study proved that the MELD-XI score at admission was related to the poor prognosis of hospitalized patients with chronic heart failure within 3 years.

Abstract The $\Xi^0$ asymmetry parameters are measured using entangled quantum $\Xi^0$-$\bar{\Xi}^0$ pairs from a sample of $(448.1 \pm 2.9) \times 10^6$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. The relative phase between the transition amplitudes of the $\Xi^0 \bar{\Xi}^0$ helicity states is measured to be $\Delta \Phi = -0.050 \pm 0.150 \pm 0.020$~rad, which implies that there is no obvious polarization at the current level of statistics. The decay parameters of the $\Xi^0$ hyperon $(\alpha_{\Xi^0}, \alpha_{\bar{\Xi}^0}, \phi_{\Xi^0}, \phi_{\bar{\Xi}^0})$ and the angular distribution parameter $(\alpha_{\psi(3686)})$ and $\Delta \Phi$ are measured simultaneously for the first time. In addition, the $CP$ asymmetry observables are determined to be $A^{\Xi^0}_{CP} = (\alpha_{\Xi^0} + \alpha_{\bar{\Xi}^0})/(\alpha_{\Xi^0} - \alpha_{\bar{\Xi}^0})$ $= -0.007$ $\pm$ 0.082 $\pm$ 0.025 and $\Delta \phi^{\Xi^0}_{CP} = (\phi_{\Xi^0} + \phi_{\bar{\Xi}^0})/2$ $= -0.079$ $\pm$ 0.082 $\pm$ 0.010 rad, which are consistent with $CP$ conservation.

Abstract Objective: In order to clarify the interaction mechanism, the phenotype and abnormal gene loci of FXI, FXII, and PS were investigated in this study.
Methods: Chinese pedigree with hereditary combined deficiency of coagulation factor (F) XI, FXII, and PS was enrolled in our study. Activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), partial thromboplastin time (PT), FXI:C, FXII:C, and protein S (PS):C were determined using the one-stage coagulation method. FXI:antigen (Ag), FXII:Ag, and PS:Ag were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Exons and introns of the FXI, FXII, and PS genes were amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and gene sequencing results were analyzed using Chromas software.
Results: A deletion of two bases located in introns A-149 and-150 within the FXI gene of the proband, his father, wife, and both sons. A missense variant in exon 14 (GGT → AGT, Gly542Ser) within FXII of the proband, his parents, and both sons. Four variants in exon 4 within the PS gene of all members of the pedigree: GTT → GTG (Val46Val), CGC → CTC (Arg49Leu), CGT → CAT (Arg60His), and CAG → TAG (Gln61stop).
Conclusions: None of the pedigree members showed a tendency for bleeding or thrombosis. Therefore, we speculated that the lack of coagulation factors counteracted the lack of PS, restoring the balance between the coagulation and anticoagulation systems. Another possible explanation is that these defects individually have only partial penetrance.

Abstract: ... the evolution of NGPV isolated from Jing-Xi partridge duck with SBDS in South China. Complete genome sequences ...

Abstract Outbreaks of short beak and dwarfism syndrome (SBDS), caused by a novel goose parvovirus (NGPV), have occurred in China since 2015. This rapidly spreading, infectious disease affects ducks in particular, with a high morbidity and low mortality rate, causing huge economic losses. This study analyzed the evolution of NGPV isolated from Jing-Xi partridge duck with SBDS in South China. Complete genome sequences of the NGPV strains GDQY1802 and GDSG1901 were homologous with other GPV/NGPV and Muscovy duck parvovirus (MDPV) strains. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the NGPV isolated from mainland China was related to the Taiwan 82-0321v strain of GPV. In contrast to 82-0321v and the SDLC01 strain, which was first isolated from China, the two isolates showed no deletions in the inverted terminal repeat (ITR) region. Further, in these isolates, 24 amino acid sites of the replication protein were different compared to that of GPV live vaccine strain 82-0321v, and 12 sites were unique across all NGPV isolates. These isolates also showed differences in 17 amino acid sites of the capsid protein from that of 82-0321v, two of which were the same as those in MDPV. Recombination analysis identified the major parents of GDSG1901 and GDQY1802 as the NGPV-GD and NGPV-Hun18 strains, and the minor parents as the classical GPV 06-0329 and GPV LH strains, respectively. GDQY1802 and GDSG1901 are recombinant GPV-related parvovirus isolated from domesticated partridge duck. Recombination is evident in the evolution of NGPV, and as such, the use of live attenuated vaccines for NGPV requires further study.

Abstract Rapid urbanization has caused environmental problems such as the urban heat island and air pollution, which are unfavorable to residents. Urban traditional blocks are facing the dual challenges of restoration and protection. This paper proposes adaptive transformation strategies for improving the microclimate of traditional areas. We selected Baxian’an Block in Xi’an city, simulated the air temperature and wind speed during summer and winter using ENVI-met, and studied the correlationship between morphological parameters (average building height, building density, enclosure degree, height fall, aspect ratio, and sky view factor) and air temperature and wind speed ratio. The case study revealed that the wind speed ratio of Baxian’an is relatively different in summer, reaching a maximum of 0.61, meaning that the ventilation capacity is significantly affected by the architectural form of the block. Finally, suggestions for the optimal design of the block’s form are provided: the building density should be less than 50%, the average building height should be more than 50 m, the enclosure degree should be less than 0.2, the height fall should be more than 41.7 m, and the sky view factor should be less than 0.5. This study can provide data and support for improving the planning and design standards of traditional residential areas.

Abstract The doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $\Xi_{c}^{+}\to p\phi$ with $\phi\to K^{+}K^{-}$ is observed for the first time, with a statistical significance of more than fifteen standard deviations. The data sample used in this analysis corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb$^{-1}$ recorded with the LHCb detector in $pp$ collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The ratio of branching fractions between the decay $\Xi_{c}^{+}\to p\phi$ and the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $\Xi_{c}^{+}\to pK^{-}\pi^{+}$ is measured to be \begin{equation*} \frac{\mathcal{B}(\Xi_{c}^{+}\to p\phi)}{\mathcal{B}(\Xi_{c}^{+}\to pK^{-}\pi^{+})} = (19.8 \pm 0.7 \pm 0.9 \pm 0.2) \times 10^{-3}, \end{equation*} where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third due to the knowledge of the $\phi\to K^{+}K^{-}$ branching fraction.
