Abstract: ... from ArcGIS and Bing World Imagery, respectively. Similar to the PatternNet dataset from Google Earth Imagery ...

Abstract Benchmark datasets are essential to develop and evaluate remote sensing image retrieval (RSIR) approaches. However, there are no two datasets with different remote sensing image sources, an approximate equal number of images, the same classification system, and image size in the existing public benchmark datasets. This may affect the evaluation of the universality and robustness of RSIR approaches for the same category in different datasets, and even hinder the development of new cross-source RSIR approaches that require remote sensing images from different sources. We therefore present two new large-scale datasets from ArcGIS and Bing World Imagery, respectively. Similar to the PatternNet dataset from Google Earth Imagery, both two new collected datasets contain 38 classes using the same classification system and each class has at least 1,500 images. We conduct experiments using five handcrafted low/mid-level feature methods and six deep learning high-level feature methods on the two datasets. Results show that our datasets are effective for evaluating different RSIR approaches and the results can be served as the baseline for future research. We also perform the comparison and the cross analysis compared with other large-scale datasets. Results indicate that our datasets are more inclusive, richer variations and better intra-class diversity. Besides, other experimental results show that our new datasets and the VGoogle (extracted by volunteers from Google imagery) dataset can be merged into one dataset for larger-scale remote sensing image retrieval.

Abstract Background: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are common and linked to negative health outcomes. Previous studies have found associations between ACEs and binge-eating disorder (BED), though they have mainly focused on adults and use cross-sectional data. The objective of this study was to examine the associations between ACEs and BED in a large, national cohort of 9-14-year-old early adolescents in the US.
Methods: We analyzed prospective cohort data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study (N = 10,145, 2016-2020). Logistic regression analyses were used to determine the associations between self-reported ACEs and BED based on the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia at two-year follow-up, adjusting for sex, race/ethnicity, baseline household income, parental education, site, and baseline binge-eating disorder.
Results: In the sample, (49% female, 46% racial/ethnic minority), 82.8% of adolescents reported at least one ACE and 1.2% had a diagnosis of BED at two-year follow-up. The mean number of ACEs was higher in those with a diagnosis of BED compared to those without (2.6 ± 0.14 vs 1.7 ± 0.02). The association between number of ACEs and BED in general had a dose-response relationship. One ACE (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 3.48, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.11-10.89), two ACEs (aOR 3.88, 95% CI 1.28-11.74), and three or more ACEs (aOR 8.94, 95% CI 3.01-26.54) were all associated with higher odds of BED at two-year follow-up. When stratified by types of ACEs, history of household mental illness (aOR 2.18, 95% 1.31-3.63), household violence (aOR 2.43, 95% CI 1.42-4.15), and criminal household member (aOR 2.14, 95% CI 1.23-3.73) were most associated with BED at two-year follow-up.
Conclusions: Children and adolescents who have experienced ACEs, particularly household challenges, have higher odds of developing BED. Clinicians may consider screening for ACEs and providing trauma-focused care when evaluating patients for BED.

Abstract Background and aims: Alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) and NAFLD often coexist in Western societies that consume energy-rich and cholesterol-containing Western diets. Increased rates of ALD mortality in young people in these societies are likely attributable to binge drinking. It is largely unknown how alcohol binge causes liver damage in the setting of Western diets.
Approach and results: In this study, we showed that a single ethanol binge (5 g/kg body weight) induced severe liver injury as shown by marked increases in serum activities of the 2 aminotransferases AST and ALT in C57BL/6J mice that have been fed a Western diet for 3 weeks. The Western diet plus binge ethanol-fed mice also displayed severe lipid droplet deposition and high contents of triglycerides and cholesterol in the liver, which were associated with increased lipogenic and reduced fatty acid oxidative gene expression. These animals had the highest Cxcl1 mRNA expression and myeloperoxidase (MPO)-positive neutrophils in the liver. Their hepatic ROS and lipid peroxidation were the highest, but their hepatic levels of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation proteins remained largely unaltered. Hepatic levels of several ER stress markers, including mRNAs for CHOP, ERO1A, ERO1B, BIM, and BIP, as well as Xbp1 splicing and proteins for BIP/GRP78 and IRE-α were also the highest in these animals. Interestingly, Western diet feeding for 3 weeks or ethanol binge dramatically increased hepatic caspase 3 cleavage, and the combination of the 2 did not further increase it. Thus, we successfully established a murine model of acute liver injury by mimicking human diets and binge drinking.
Conclusions: This simple Western diet plus single ethanol binge model recapitulates major hepatic phenotypes of ALD, including steatosis and steatohepatitis characterized by neutrophil infiltration, oxidative stress, and ER stress.

Abstract Background: Binge-watching, the viewing of online videos or streamed content, may be associated with different types of mental health problems. The present study aimed to investigate the associations between binge-watching and five mental health concerns including depression, loneliness, sleep problems, anxiety, and stress. Methods: Academic databases of PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, ProQuest, PsycINFO, and Psych Articles were systematically searched through February of 2022. The Newcastle–Ottawa Scale was used to assess the methodological quality. A meta-analysis was performed on Fisher’s z values as effect sizes, using a random effect model. Publication bias, small study effect, and moderators in this association were assessed. Results: Binge-watching was significantly associated with the five types of mental health concerns with the most robust correlations found with stress (0.32) and anxiety (0.25). Stronger associations between binge-watching and two types of mental health problems (depression and sleep problems) were found during the COVID-19 pandemic than before the pandemic. Moreover, stronger associations between binge-watching and two types of mental health problems (stress and sleep problems) were found in developing countries than in developed countries. Conclusions: The associations between binge-watching and mental health concerns were significant and positive. Programs and interventions to reduce binge-watching should be considered and tested.

Abstract Alcohol metabolism causes hepatocytes to release damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs). This includes mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), which is generated and released from damaged hepatocytes and contributes to liver injury by producing proinflammatory cytokines. STING is a pattern recognition receptor of DAMPs known to control the induction of innate immunity in various pathological processes. However, the expression profile and functions of STING in the Gao binge ethanol model remain poorly understood. We demonstrated that STING is upregulated in the Gao binge ethanol model. STING functions as an mtDNA sensor in the Kupffer cells of the liver and induces STING-signaling pathway-dependent inflammation and further aggravates hepatocyte apoptosis in the Gao binge ethanol model. This study provides novel insights into predicting disease progression and developing targeted therapies for alcoholic liver injury.
