Abstract Effective heat dissipation and real-time temperature monitoring are crucial for ensuring the long-term stable operation of modern, high-performance electronic products. This study proposes a silicon rubber polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-based nanocomposite with a rapid thermal response and high thermal conductivity. This nanocomposite enables both rapid heat dissipation and real-time temperature monitoring for high-performance electronic products. The reported material primarily consists of a thermally conductive layer (Al

Abstract Solar photothermal water evaporation technology has attracted attention owing to its promising applications in wastewater treatment and desalination for producing clean water. However, high-performance solar evaporators are still limited by the complex manufacturing process, less flexibility, intolerance to salt, high cost, and low water evaporation efficiency. In this study, composite fibre paper composed of waste tissue paper, aramid nanofibers, and polyaniline was prepared to produce clean water. The evaporator was designed to pump water through a cotton wick to the composite paper, which reduced heat loss and avoided the deposition of salt on the surface. The use of waste tissue paper solves the problem of waste disposal, increases the commercial value of waste tissue, and reduces production costs. The composite fibre paper exhibited broad-band light absorption of an average of 96%. The average evaporation rate of the solar evaporator was 1.43 kg m

Abstract Low-temperature two-step concentrated H₂SO₄ was discovered to be a solvent with high cellulose solubility [>300 g/L (17 wt%)], fast cellulose dissolution, high regeneration yield (>0.92 g/g), and cellulose being mouldable during regeneration. The superior performance was enabled by the much better compatibility of cellulose with lower concentrated H₂SO₄ at low temperature, compared with that of high concentrated H₂SO₄. The regenerated cellulose was characterized by mostly unchanged composition and highly tunable degree of polymerization (DP). The H₂SO₄ starting content, cotton fibre temperature, dissolution temperature, regeneration temperature, regeneration bath and storage time were factors determining the DP of regenerated cellulose, which could be equivalent to 4–90 % of the original cotton. These advantages of the solvent enabled versatile application in fabrication of extra strong cellulose hydrogels, manufacture of strong cellulose fibres, preparation of various homogenous composites which would be prepared with much more difficulty by using other solvents, and facile manufacture of cellooligosaccharides.

Abstract The heterogeneous Fenton system has drawn great attention in recent years due to its effective degradation of polluted water capability without limitation of the pH range and avoiding excess ferric hydroxide sludge. Therefore, simple chemical precipitation and vacuum filtration method for manufacturing the heterogeneous Fenton aramid nanofibers (ANFs)/ferrous oxalate (FeC 2 O 4 ) composite membrane catalysts with excellent degradation of methylene blue (MB) is reported in the study. The morphology and structure of materials synthesized were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray energy spectrum analysis (EDS), infrared spectrometer (FTIR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) equipment. The 10 ppm MB degradation efficiency of composite catalyst and ferrous oxalate (FeC 2 O 4 ) within 15 min were 94.5% and 91.6%, respectively. The content of methylene blue was measured by a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Moreover, the dye degradation efficiency still could achieve 92% after five cycles, indicating the composite catalyst with excellent chemical stability and reusability. Simultaneously, the composite catalyst membrane can degrade not only MB but also rhodamine B (RB), orange II (O II), and methyl orange (MO). This study represents a new avenue for the fabrication of heterogeneous Fenton catalysts and will contribute to dye wastewater purification, especially in the degradation of methylene blue.

Abstract This paper presents a production Semi-Supervised Learning (SSL) pipeline based on the student-teacher framework, which leverages millions of unlabeled examples to improve Natural Language Understanding (NLU) tasks. We investigate two questions related to the use of unlabeled data in production SSL context: 1) how to select samples from a huge unlabeled data pool that are beneficial for SSL training, and 2) how do the selected data affect the performance of different state-of-the-art SSL techniques. We compare four widely used SSL techniques, Pseudo-Label (PL), Knowledge Distillation (KD), Virtual Adversarial Training (VAT) and Cross-View Training (CVT) in conjunction with two data selection methods including committee-based selection and submodular optimization based selection. We further examine the benefits and drawbacks of these techniques when applied to intent classification (IC) and named entity recognition (NER) tasks, and provide guidelines specifying when each of these methods might be beneficial to improve large scale NLU systems.

Abstract Pharmacogenetics-related publications, which are increasing rapidly, provide important new pharmacogenetics knowledge. Automated approaches to extract information of new alleles and to identify their impact on metabolic phenotypes from publications are urgently needed to facilitate personalized medicine and improve clinical outcomes. Cytochrome polymorphisms, responsible for a wide variation of drug pharmacodynamics, individual efficacy and adverse effects, have significant potential for optimizing drug therapy. A few studies have addressed specialized efforts to automatically extract cytochrome polymorphisms and their characterizations regarding metabolic phenotypes from the literature. In this paper, we present a novel rule-based text-mining system to extract metabolic phenotypes of polymorphisms from PubMed abstracts with a focus on cytochrome P450. This system is promising as it achieved a precision of 85.71% in a preliminary proof-of-concept evaluation and is expected to automatically provide up-to-date metabolic information for cytochrome polymorphisms, which is critical to advance personalized medicine and improve clinical care.
