Abstract LiS batteries with high theoretical capacity are attracting attention as next-generation energy storage systems. Much effort has been devoted to the introduction of cathode materials with strong adsorption to sulfide species, but it is presented that this selection should be refined in the application of high donicity electrolytes. The oxides with different adsorption capacities are explored while controlling the electrolyte donicity, confirming the trade-off effect between the donicity and the adsorption capacity for sulfur conversion. Specifically, a cathode substrate containing oxide nanoparticles of MgO, NiO, Fe

Abstract A high-frequency surface wave radar (HFSWR) is the only sensor that provides inexpensive surveillance for up to 200 nautical miles (NM) of the exclusive economic zone in the 3–5 MHz band. However, because of its long wavelength, its angular resolution is low. Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology is an attractive method to improve angular resolution. This paper proposes MIMO waveforms and their processing that can be used in HFSWR systems. This dual modulation method applies linear frequency modulation to each pulse and orthogonal polyphase codes for a few consecutive pulses to enable MIMO processing. The proposed method can effectively remove the correlation of mutual interference and exhibits excellent performance in removing multiple-time-around echoes.

Abstract In this study, we prepare highly self-healable polymeric coating materials using charge transfer complex (CTC) interactions. The resulting coating materials demonstrate outstanding thermal stability (1 wt% loss thermal decomposition temperature at 420 °C), rapid self-healing kinetics (in 5 min), and high self-healing efficiency (over 99%), which is facilitated by CTC-induced multiple interactions between the polymeric chains. In addition, these materials exhibit excellent optical properties, including transmittance over 91% and yellow index (YI) below 2, and show enhanced weatherability with a ΔYI value below 0.5 after exposure to UV light for 72 h. Furthermore, the self-healable coating materials developed in this study show outstanding mechanical properties by overcoming the limitations of conventional self-healing materials.

Abstract Integrated optical modulators (IOMs) are crucial components of on-chip photonic circuits. However, most conventional IOMs are restricted to specific spectral bands. Here, we leveraged the wide transparency window of lithium niobate in conjunction with the two-pulley coupled resonator method. This approach led to the development of a hyperband electro-optic (EO) modulator that operates over an expansive spectral range from 775 to 1550 nm on a single device. The demonstrated EO modulator exhibits half-wave voltage-length products of 0.25, 0.93, and 0.68 V·cm at wavelengths of 1539.50, 969.70, and 775.17 nm, respectively.

Abstract Protein aggregation and the abnormal accumulation of aggregates are considered as common mechanisms of neurodegeneration such as Parkinson's disease (PD). Ursolic acid (UA), a natural pentacyclic triterpenoid compound, has shown a protective activity in several experimental models of brain dysfunction through inhibiting oxidative stress and inflammatory responses and suppressing apoptotic signaling in the brain. In this study, we investigated whether UA promoted autophagic clearance of protein aggregates and attenuated the pathology and characteristic symptoms in PD mouse model. Abstract Controlling the optical coupling between a micro-resonator and waveguide plays a key role in on-chip photonic circuits. Here, we demonstrate a two-point coupled lithium niobate (LN) racetrack micro-resonator that enables us to electro-optically traverse a full set of the zero-, under-, critical-, and over-coupling regimes with minimized disturbance of the intrinsic properties of the resonant mode. The modulation between the zero- and critical-coupling conditions cost a resonant frequency shift of only ∼344.2 MHz and rarely changed the intrinsic quality (Q) factor of 4.6 × 10
