Abstract In the billions of faces that are shaped by thousands of different cultures and ethnicities, one thing remains universal: the way emotions are expressed. To take the next step in human-machine interactions, a machine (e.g., a humanoid robot) must be able to clarify facial emotions. Allowing systems to recognize micro-expressions affords the machine a deeper dive into a person's true feelings, which will take human emotion into account while making optimal decisions. For instance, these machines will be able to detect dangerous situations, alert caregivers to challenges, and provide appropriate responses. Micro-expressions are involuntary and transient facial expressions capable of revealing genuine emotions. We propose a new hybrid neural network (NN) model capable of micro-expression recognition in real-time applications. Several NN models are first compared in this study. Then, a hybrid NN model is created by combining a convolutional neural network (CNN), a recurrent neural network (RNN, e.g., long short-term memory (LSTM)), and a vision transformer. The CNN can extract spatial features (within a neighborhood of an image), whereas the LSTM can summarize temporal features. In addition, a transformer with an attention mechanism can capture sparse spatial relations residing in an image or between frames in a video clip. The inputs of the model are short facial videos, while the outputs are the micro-expressions recognized from the videos. The NN models are trained and tested with publicly available facial micro-expression datasets to recognize different micro-expressions (e.g., happiness, fear, anger, surprise, disgust, sadness). Score fusion and improvement metrics are also presented in our experiments. The results of our proposed models are compared with that of literature-reported methods tested on the same datasets. The proposed hybrid model performs the best, where score fusion can dramatically increase recognition performance.

Abstract Background: The evidence regarding the association of reproductive factors with cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) is limited.
Aims: To investigate the relationship of reproductive factors with the risk of CVDs, as well as all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.
Methods: This study included 16,404 adults with reproductive factors from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) and followed up until 31 December 2019. Logistic models and restricted cubic spline models were used to assess the association of reproductive factors with CVDs. COX proportional hazards models and restricted cubic spline models, with adjustment for potential confounding, were employed to analyze the relation between reproductive factors and cardiovascular and all-cause death.
Results: There is a nonlinear relationship between age at menarche and CVDs. Age at menopause ≤ 11(OR 1.36, 95% CI 1.10-1.69) was associated with an increased risk of CVDs compared to ages 12-13 years. Age at Menopause ≤ 44 (OR 1.69, 95% CI 1.40-2.03) was associated with increased CVDs compared to age 35-49 years. Number of pregnancies ≥ 5(OR 1.26, 95% CI 1.02-1.55) was associated with an increased risk of CVDs compared to one pregnancy. In continuous variable COX regression models, a later age at menopause (HR 0.98, 95% CI 0.97-0.99) and a longer reproductive lifespan (HR 0.98, 95% CI 0.97-0.99) were associated with a decreased risk of all-cause death. A later age at menopause (HR 0.98, 95% CI 0.97-0.99) and a longer reproductive lifespan (HR 0.98, 95% CI 0.97-0.99) were associated with a decreased risk of cardiac death.
Conclusions: Female reproductive factors are significant risk factors for CVDs American women.

Abstract In the cardiovascular field, coating containing copper used to catalyze NO (nitric oxide) production on non-degradable metal surfaces have shown unparalleled expected performance, but there are few studies on biodegradable metal surfaces. Magnesium-based biodegradable metals have been applied in cardiovascular field in large-scale because of their excellent properties. In this study, the coating of copper loaded in silk fibroin is fabricated on biodegradable ZE21B alloy. Importantly, the different content of copper is set to investigate the effects of on the degradation performance and cell behavior of magnesium alloy. Through electrochemical and immersion experiments, it is found that high content of copper will accelerate the corrosion of magnesium alloy. The reason is the spontaneous micro-batteries between copper and magnesium with the different standard electrode potentials, that is, the galvanic corrosion accelerates the corrosion of magnesium alloy. Moreover, the coating formed through silk fibroin by the right amount copper not only have a protective effect on the ZE21B alloy substrate, but also promotes the adhesion and proliferation of endothelial cells in blood vessel micro-environment. The production of NO catalyzed by copper ions makes this trend more significant, and inhibits the excessive proliferation of smooth muscle cells. These findings can provide guidance for the amount of copper in the coating on the surface of biodegradable magnesium alloy used for cardiovascular stent purpose.
