Abstract To prevent the gas over limit in the upper corner of the 215101 working face of the Yue Nan coal mine, a numerical simulation method was used to analyze the gas concentration in the upper corner of the working face at different air intake volumes and mining velocities. The research results show that the gas concentration in the upper corner is 0.78, 0.52, 0.39, and 0.32% when the wind speed of the intake airflow roadway is 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5 m/s, respectively, and an optimal wind speed of the intake airflow roadway is selected as 2 m/s. When the wind speed of the intake airflow roadway is 2 m/s, the working face mining velocity is 1, 2, 3, and 4 m/d, and the gas concentration in the upper corner is 0.27, 0.39, 0.58, and 0.83%, respectively, and an optimal working face mining velocity of 3 m/d is selected. Under the optimal mining conditions, the working face wind leakage area is divided, with 0∼30 m of the working face as the main leakage area and 150-180 m as the wind flow compensation area. According to the wind speed in the gob, the wind flow disturbance area is divided, the gob 0-50 m is the wind flow intense disturbance area, which is the main area of the upper corner gas source; the gob 50-62 m is the wind flow medium disturbance area, which is the secondary area of the upper corner gas source; the gob 62-75 m is the slight disturbance area, which has less influence on the upper corner gas concentration; the gob after 75 m is the wind flow undisturbed area, and the upper corner gas concentration is almost unaffected by it.

Abstract Testis is the primary organ of the male reproductive tract in mammals that plays a substantial role in spermatogenesis. Improvement of our knowledge regarding the molecular mechanisms in testicular development and spermatogenesis will be reflected in producing spermatozoa of superior fertility. Evidence showed that N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) plays a dynamic role in post-transcription gene expression regulation and is strongly associated with production traits. However, the role of m6A in bovine testis has not been investigated yet. In this study, we conducted MeRIP-Seq analysis to explore the expression profiles of the m6A and its potential mechanism underlying spermatogenesis in nine bovine testes at three developmental stages (prepuberty, puberty and postpuberty). The experimental animals with triplicate in each stage were chosen based on their semen volume and sperm motility except for the prepuberty bulls and used for testes collection. By applying MeRIP-Seq analysis, a total of 8,774 m6A peaks and 6,206 m6A genes among the studied groups were identified. All the detected peaks were found to be mainly enriched in the coding region and 3'- untranslated regions. The cross-analysis of m6A and mRNA expression exhibited 502 genes with concomitant changes in the mRNA expression and m6A modification. Notably, 30 candidate genes were located in the largest network of protein-protein interactions. Interestingly, four key node genes (

Abstract: ... reduced (lull) and restricted around the Changle‐Nan'ao Belt (CNB) while the magmatism was highly active ...

Abstract The cause of magmatic tempo in an active plate margin remains controversial, partly due to lack of structural analysis. During 130–105 Ma, the magmatism in the South China Block (SCB) was significantly reduced (lull) and restricted around the Changle‐Nan'ao Belt (CNB) while the magmatism was highly active (flare‐up) in North China. For unveiling the tectonic role on magmatism, a multidisciplinary study including field and microscopic structural observations, magnetic fabric measurement (AMS), and zircon/monazite dating was conducted on the plutons with oriented minerals in the CNB. Structural analysis and AMS results show a highly clustered NE‐striking vertical foliation developed during the emplacement indicating a syn‐emplacement NW‐SE shortening regime. The geochronology results confirm that the emplacement occurred during 130–105 Ma. Regional geologic correlation indicates that the collision between the Dangerous Grounds‐West Philippines Block and SCB was responsible for this shortening regime. The collected depleted zircon εHf(t) data suggest that a possible collision‐triggered slab break‐off caused the syn‐collisional magmatic activity around the CNB. This study shows that the magmatic lull in the SCB was coeval with a crustal shortening regime due to the arrival of a microcontinent carried by the subduction slab, while the magmatic flare‐up was coeval with an extensional regime due to the subduction roll‐back and retreat as evidenced by the Cretaceous evolution of the SCB before and after the collision and that of North China which is unaffected by the collision. The cause of magmatic tempo in the continental margin is largely due to the tectonic evolution of underlain subduction slabs.

Interestingly, four key node genes (PLK4, PTEN, EGR1, and PSME4) were associated with the regulation of mammal testis development and spermatogenesis. This study is the first to present a map of RNA m6A modification in bovine testes at distinct ages, and provides new insights into m6A topology and related molecular mechanisms underlying bovine spermatogenesis, and establishes a basis for further studies on spermatogenesis in mammals.

Abstract Tidally induced, sudden temperature drops in Nan Wan, particularly pronounced during the spring tide, of ten bear eco logical consequences. We use an Ocean Nowcast/Forecast System (ONFS) at the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) to examine a widely publicized cold-water intrusion event in July 2008, and com pare it with what we perceived as a normal intrusion event in June 2007. For a normal cold-water intrusion, cold anomalies eventually propagate away in forms similar to internal Kelvin waves. For early July of 2008, the NRL ONFS suggested an anomalous, subtidal and essentially east ward cur rent near Nan Wan. The subtidal current, super imposed on the ebb cur rent, blocks the prop a gation of cold anomalies in the direction of in ternal Kelvin waves, inducing anomalous and in efficient cold-water dispersal. The NRL ONFS also suggested the anomalous subtidal current as a post-typhoon response to the passage of Typhoon Fengshen.

Abstract Soil available nitrogen content is an important index reflecting soil fertility. It provides dynamic information for land reclamation and ecological restoration if soil available nitrogen can be monitored and evaluated using hyperspectral technology. Facing the study blank of soil available nitrogen in National Mine Park and the deficiency of poor computational efficiency of partial least squares regression (PLSR) method, the present paper presents the relationship between soil spectrum and soil available nitrogen based on spectrum curves (ranging from 350 to 2 500 nm) of 30 salinized chestnut soil samples, which were collected from southern mountain coal waste scenic spot, located in Jinhuagong mine in Datong city, Shanxi Province, China (one part of Jinhuagong national mine park). Soil reflection spectrum was mathematically manipulated into first derivative and inverse-log spectral curves, then a corresponding estimation model was built and examined by PLSR and Enter-partial least squares regression (Enter-PLSR) based on characteristic absorption. The result indicated that Enter-PLSR corresponding estimation model greatly increased the computation efficiency by reducing the number of independent variables to 12 from 122 in case of a close accuracy of PLS corresponding estimation model. By using hyperspectral technology and Enter-PLSR method, the study blank of soil available nitrogen in National Mine Park was filled. At the same time, the computation efficiency problem of PLSR was resolved.

Abstract: ... sediments from Nan’ao Island, one of the largest mariculture bases in South China were investigated ...

Abstract Levels, composition profiles and sources of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in surface sediments from Nan’ao Island, one of the largest mariculture bases in South China were investigated. The total PAHs concentrations ranged from 265.49 to 951.27ng/g (dry weight) with a mean of 515.90ng/g, and seven possible carcinogenic PAHs accounted for 76.94% of total PAHs. Among various mariculture sections, the highest PAHs level was found in the large seaweed culture; while the lowest concentration was detected in the abandoned culture. The composition of PAHs was characterized by low molecular weight PAHs, and Phe Ant and Pyr were the dominant constituent. PAHs may be mainly originated from petroleum and combustion of biomass and coal. Risk assessments suggested that the probability of adverse effect was lower than 25% and PAHs exposure was moderately carcinogenic.

Abstract In this study, latex agglutination test (LAT) was used to detect sera anti-toxoplasma antibodies of Atayal aborigines and local animals in Nan-ao district, Ilan county and Jen-ai district, Nan-tou county as a measure of exposure to the Toxoplasma gondii. Out of 422 Atayal aborigines and 64 different animals were tested in Nan-ao district and 82 Atayal children in Jen-ai district were also screened, the positive rates for sera anti-toxoplasma antibodies were 21.8%, 17.2% and 15.9%, respectively. In Nan-ao district, neither were the positive rates significantly different in males (22.1%) and females (21.4%), nor in humans (21.8%) and dogs (19.6%) (P > 0.05). The seroprevalence in adults (28.3%) was significantly higher than that in children (18.7%) (P < 0.05), and the highest seropositive rate (38.1%) was in the age group 50-59 years and the lowest (7.7%) was in the age group 1-9 years. In general, the age pattern of prevalence is consistent with increasing duration of exposure to Toxoplasma gondii with age. For animals, the seropositive rate in dogs (19.6%) was also significantly higher than that in wild rats (7.7%) (P < 0.05). No significant difference in seropositive rate of Atayal children was observed between Nan-ao and Jen-ai districts (P > 0.05).
