    Abstract Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) enables pesticide residue monitoring to become facile and efficient. In this study, a core-shell structured gold nanoparticles@ZnCo metal-organic framework (AuNPs@ZnCo-MOF) SERS substrate was designed and successfully synthesized for efficient and selective detection of thiram. The bimetallic ZnCo-MOF shell can not only enrich the targeted molecules in the electromagnetic field because of its excellent absorptive capacity, but also act as a stabilized matrix for protecting the AuNPs from aggregation.     Abstract Silicon carbide (SiC) is recognized as an excellent material for microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), especially those operating in challenging environments, such as high temperature, high radiation, and corrosive environments. However, SiC bulk micromachining is still a challenge, which hinders the development of complex SiC MEMS. To address this problem, we present the use of a carbon nanotube (CNT) array coated with amorphous SiC (a-SiC) as an alternative composite material to enable high aspect ratio (HAR) surface micromachining. By using a prepatterned catalyst layer, a HAR CNT array can be grown as a structural template and then densified by uniformly filling the CNT bundle with LPCVD a-SiC. The electrical properties of the resulting SiC-CNT composite were characterized, and the results indicated that the electrical resistivity was dominated by the CNTs. To demonstrate the use of this composite in MEMS applications, a capacitive accelerometer was designed, fabricated, and measured. The fabrication results showed that the composite is fully compatible with the manufacturing of surface micromachining devices. The Young's modulus of the composite was extracted from the measured spring constant, and the results show a great improvement in the mechanical properties of the CNTs after coating with a-SiC. The accelerometer was electrically characterized, and its functionality was confirmed using a mechanical shaker.

    Abstract Hydrophobic sponges have attracted significant interest in oil spills and water-oil separation as potential absorption materials due to their desirable absorptivity, selectivity, and elasticity. In this paper, a hydrophilic melamine sponge (MS) is transferred into a superhydrophobic sponge via polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) modification followed by in situ growth of fluorine-functionalized covalent organic framework (denoted as TFA-COF) nanoparticles. Therefore, the PDMS@TFA-COF@MS sponge was successfully prepared for efficient oil-water separation. The resultant PDMS@TFA-COF@MS exhibits superhydrophobic properties with a water contact angle of 156.7°. The superhydrophobic sponge has selectivity adsorption for different organic solvents and oils from water as well as oil-water separation efficiency (96% after 30 cycles) and oil absorption capacity (12 646% after 30 cycles). Meanwhile, the PDMS@TFA-COF@MS sponge exhibits strong thermal stability and flame retardancy in addition to having exceptional resistance to chemical corrosion in acidic, alkaline, and salt solutions. Moreover, the surfactant-stabilized oil-in-water emulsion could be efficiently separated by the sponge. Therefore, the prepared superhydrophobic PDMS@TFA-COF@MS sponge demonstrates possible uses for long-life oil-water separation applications.

    Abstract Falls often pose significant safety risks to solitary individuals, especially the elderly. Implementing a fast and efficient fall detection system is an effective strategy to address this hidden danger. We propose a multimodal method based on audio and video. On the basis of using non-intrusive equipment, it reduces to a certain extent the false negative situation that the most commonly used video-based methods may face due to insufficient lighting conditions, exceeding the monitoring range, etc. Therefore, in the foreseeable future, methods based on audio and video fusion are expected to become the best solution for fall detection. Specifically, this article outlines the following methodology: the video-based model utilizes YOLOv7-Pose to extract key skeleton joints, which are then fed into a two stream Spatial Temporal Graph Convolutional Network (ST-GCN) for classification. Meanwhile, the audio-based model employs log-scaled mel spectrograms to capture different features, which are processed through the MobileNetV2 architecture for detection. The final decision fusion of the two results is achieved through linear weighting and Dempster-Shafer (D-S) theory. After evaluation, our multimodal fall detection method significantly outperforms the single modality method, especially the evaluation metric sensitivity increased from 81.67% in single video modality to 96.67% (linear weighting) and 97.50% (D-S theory), which emphasizing the effectiveness of integrating video and audio data to achieve more powerful and reliable fall detection in complex and diverse daily life environments.

    Abstract Background: High-risk patients with coronary heart disease who develop acute myocardial infarction (AMI) have severe coronary lesions. If severe complications occur, such as malignant ventricular arrhythmia, cardiogenic shock, and cardiac arrest, implementation of emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) may be hindered, leading to a higher perioperative mortality rate. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) can pave the way for rapid myocardial reperfusion therapy. When cardiac arrest occurs, hemodynamic support with ECMO can facilitate revascularization with PCI, which can increase the time available for further salvage and treatment and reduce intraoperative risk during PCI.
    Case presentation: Herein, we report a case of a 61-year-old man with AMI who suffered electrical storm of sustained malignant ventricular fibrillation, cardiogenic shock, and cardiac arrest and was successfully treated with PCI with ECMO support. During PCI, repeated aspiration and removal of the right coronary artery thrombus were performed, and blood flow was restored after right coronary artery balloon dilation. One episode of defibrillation was delivered to restore sinus rhythm. Then, stents were implanted in the distal and proximal right coronary artery lesions to achieve revascularization. After PCI with ECMO support, irreversible malignant arrhythmia returned to sinus rhythm through coronary perfusion, which prevented death following unsuccessful cardiopulmonary resuscitation. After applying active treatments, including anti-shock, mechanical ventilation, anti-inflammation, and organ support, the patient was discharged after his condition and vital signs stabilized. The patient was followed up once a week after hospital discharge, and his cardiopulmonary function recovered well.
    Conclusions: With ECMO support, PCI should be performed immediately in patients with inferior wall AMI complicated by electrical storm of sustained ventricular fibrillation, cardiogenic shock, and cardiac arrest to facilitate stent placement, achieve complete revascularization, restore coronary perfusion, and avoid death.
