    Abstract Background: This study investigated the effects of authoritarian filial piety (AFP) and caregiver self-efficacy on the caregiving experience of adult children of physically impaired older adults. Socio-cultural stress and coping model was applied to test the influence of AFP on caregiver gains.
    Methods: A total of 601 Chinese adult children caregivers and care-recipient dyads participated in this cross-sectional study in 2021. Four instruments were used to collect data: the 4-item Zarit Burden Interview, Positive Aspects of Caregiving Scale, Caregiver Task Inventory Scale, and Authoritarian Filial Piety Scale. All mediation and moderated mediation effects were estimated using SPSS 26.0.
    Results: Caregiver self-efficacy was found to not only mediate but also help family caregivers convert their burden into positive gains. AFP moderates the association between caregiver burden and self-efficacy, as well as between caregiver burden and caregiver gains.
    Conclusions: This study provides valuable insights into filial piety, elucidating AFP's comprehensive impact on cognitive appraisals of caregiving. Culturally sensitive psychoeducational therapy, addressing AFP expectations and boosting caregiver self-efficacy, is recommended to enhance positive caregiving outcomes.

    Abstract Radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT) has proven to be an effective cancer treatment with minimal toxicity. With several RPT agents approved by FDA, the remarkable potential of this therapy is now being recognized, and the anti-tumor immunity induced by RPT is beginning to be noticed. This review evaluates the potential of RPT for immune activation, including promoting the release of danger associated-molecular pattern molecules that recruit inflammatory cells into the tumor microenvironment, and activating antigen-presenting cells and cytotoxic T cells. We also discuss the progress of combining RPT with immunotherapy to increase efficacy.

    Abstract As a typical multi-hull ship, the pentamaran has a wider deck, higher damage stability, and low-speed seaworthiness in harsh sea conditions compared with other multi-hull types such as the catamaran and trimaran, having more potential for becoming a new type of freight merchant ship in line with the development trend of the marine economy. In this paper, on the basis of the finite volume method, the numerical simulations and detailed comparative analysis of the monohull and pentamaran in viscous flow were carried out. The resistance prediction in calm water and regular waves and the changes of each resistance component of the pentamaran were explored. The dynamic fluid body interaction (DFBI) module was used for the calculations in calm water, and the overset mesh was used for the calculations in regular waves. The results show that in calm water, the adverse effect of the side hulls on the resistance was mainly reflected in the low-speed range. In the high-speed range, the influence of the side hulls on the resistance can be ignored. At high speeds, the main hull and side hulls of the pentamaran will produce favorable wave-making interference, thereby improving the wave-making performance of the pentamaran. In regular waves, although the added resistance of the pentamaran increased most of the time, its amplitude was smaller than that of the monohull under the same wave condition. This work provides a technical basis for the research on the design and hydrodynamic performance of the pentamaran.

    Abstract Objectives: Previous studies have demonstrated that optic neuritis (ON) affects brain plasticity. However, whether ON affects the spinal cord remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the spinal cord changes in ON and their associations with disability.
    Methods: A total of 101 ON patients, and 41 healthy controls (HC) were retrospectively recruited. High-resolution imaging was conducted using a Magnetization Prepared Rapid Acquisition Gradient-Echo (MP-RAGE) sequence for T1-weighted images and an echo planar imaging (EPI) sequence for Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) data collection. Additionally, patients' disability and cognitive impairment were evaluated using the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) and the Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test (PASAT), respectively. The quantitative spinal MRI was employed to examine the cross-sectional area (CSA) and diffusion indicators, with a specific focus on calculating the average values across the C2-C7 cervical spinal cord segments. CSA, fractional anisotropy (FA), mean diffusivity (MD), axial diffusivity (AD), and radial diffusivity (RD) were compared between groups. Correlation analyses were performed between CSA, diffusion indicators, and clinical variables.
    Results: No significant differences were found in CSA between ON patients and HCs. MD (p = 0.007) and RD (p = 0.018) were increased in ON patients compared with HCs, and AD was decreased in ON (p = 0.013). The AD values of the ON patients were significantly positively correlated with PASAT scores (r = 0.37, p < 0.001).
    Conclusions: This study provided imaging evidence for DTI abnormalities in patients with ON. Spinal cord DTI can improve our knowledge of the path physiology of ON, and clinical progression.

    Abstract Background: Dihydromyricetin (DHM), a flavonoid compound of natural origin, has been identified in high concentrations in ampelopsis grossedentata and has a broad spectrum of biological and pharmacological functions, particularly in regulating glucose and lipid metabolism. The objective of this research was to examine how DHM affected nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its underlying mechanisms involved in the progression of NAFLD in a rat model subjected to a high-fat diet (HFD). Additionally, the study examines the underlying mechanisms in a cellular model of steatohepatitis using palmitic acid (PA)-treated HepG2 cells, with a focus on the potential correlation between autophagy and hepatic insulin resistance (IR) in the progress of NAFLD.
    Methods: SD rats were exposed to a HFD for a period of eight weeks, followed by a treatment with DHM (at doses of 50, 100, and 200 mg·kg
    Results: The administration of DHM demonstrated efficacy in ameliorating hepatic steatosis, as seen in both in vivo and in vitro experimental models. Moreover, DHM administration significantly increased GLUT2 expression, decreased G6Pase and PEPCK expression, and improved IR in the hepatic tissue of rats fed a HFD and in cells exhibiting steatosis. DHM treatment elevated Beclin 1, ATG 5, and LC3-II levels in hepatic steatosis models, correlating with autolysosome formation. The expression of AMPK levels and its downstream target PGC-1α, and PPARα were decreased in HFD-fed rats and PA-treated hepatocytes, which were reversed through DHM treatment. AMPK/ PGC-1α and PPARα knockdown reduced the impact of DHM on hepatic autophagy, IR and accumulation of hepatic lipid.
    Conclusions: Our findings revealed that AMPK/ PGC-1α, PPARα-dependent autophagy pathways in the pathophysiology of IR and hepatic steatosis has been shown, suggesting that DHM might potentially serve as a promising treatment option for addressing this disease.

    Abstract Torpedoes play an irreplaceable role in naval warfare; therefore, it is significant to study the dynamic response of the direct navigation of torpedoes. In order to study the dynamic response of torpedoes under different Munk moment coefficients, the dynamic equation of torpedoes is established based on the momentum theorem and the momentum moment theorem. The linear motion mathematical model of torpedoes is obtained. The relationship between the torpedo and the Munk moment coefficient is derived. The straight-line motion model of the torpedo under different Munk moments is established, and the dynamic properties of the space motion of the torpedo are analyzed. It is found that the Munk moment coefficient increase will lead to an increase in the deflection of the torpedo’s direct motion on each degree of freedom, and the Munk moment coefficient is related to the additional mass matrix. During the design of the torpedo, the added mass should be reduced by changing the shape of the torpedo as much as possible so as to reduce the pitch moment, yaw, and roll moments of the torpedo.

    Abstract Adenoid hypertrophy (AH) is an obstructive condition due to enlarged adenoids, causing mouth breathing, nasal blockage, snoring and/or restless sleep. While reliable diagnostic techniques, such as lateral soft tissue x-ray imaging or flexible nasopharyngoscopy, have been widely adopted in general practice, the actual impact of airway obstruction on nasal airflow and inhalation exposure to drug aerosols remains largely unknown. In this study, the effects of adenoid hypertrophy on airflow and micron particle inhalation exposure characteristics were analysed by virtually comparing pre- and postoperative models based on a realistic 3-year-old nasal airway with AH. More specifically, detailed comparison focused on anatomical shape variations, overall airflow and olfactory ventilation, associated particle deposition in overall and local regions were conducted. Our results indicate that the enlarged adenoid tissue can significantly alter the airflow fields. By virtually removing the enlarged tissue and restoring the airway, peak velocity and wall shear stress were restored, and olfactory ventilation was considerably improved (with a 16∼63% improvement in terms of local ventilation speed). Furthermore, particle deposition results revealed that nasal airway with AH exhibits higher particle filtration tendency with densely packed deposition hot spots being observed along the floor region and enlarged adenoid tissue area. While for the postoperative model, the deposition curve was shifted to the right. The local deposition efficiency results demonstrated that more particles with larger inertia can be delivered to the targeted affected area following Adenoidectomy (Adenoid Removal). Research findings are expected to provide scientific evidence for adenoidectomy planning and aerosol therapy following Adenoidectomy, which can substantially improve present clinical treatment outcomes.
