Abstract P2-phase layered cathode materials with distinguished electrochemical performance for sodium-ion batteries have attracted extensive attention, but they face critical challenges of transition metal layer sliding and unfavorable formation of hydration phase upon cycling, thus showing inferior long cycle life. Herein, a new approach is reported to modulate the local structure of P2 material by constructing a state-of-the-art in-plane BO

Abstract The number of patents increases quickly, while more and more low-quality patents are emerging. It's important to identify high-quality patents from massive data quickly and accurately for organizational R&D decision-making and patent layout. However, due to low percentage of high-quality patents, it is challenging to identify them efficiently. In order to solve above problem, we reconstruct the existing index system for identifying high-quality patents by adding 4 features from technological strength of patentees. Furthermore, we propose an improved model by integrating resampling technique and ensemble learning algorithm. First, generative adversarial networks (GAN) are used to expand minority samples. Second, Extreme Gradient Boosting algorithm (XGBoost) with Bayesian optimization (BO) is used to identify high-quality patents. For clarity, this model is called a GAN-BO-XGBoost model. To test the effectiveness of above model, we use patent data in field of lithography technology. Tenfold cross-validation is carried out to evaluate the performance between our proposed model and other models. The results show that GAN-BO-XGBoost model performs better and it's more stable than other models.

Abstract Simultaneously incorporating heteroatoms and nonbenzenoid aromatic hydrocarbons, such as azulene, into polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, offers a robust strategy for designing molecules with aesthetic appeal and unique properties. This study presents the successful synthesis and characterization of a series of azulene-based BO-doped heteroaromatics. Investigation into their optical and electrochemical properties, through UV–vis absorption, cyclic voltammetry, and DFT calculations, reveal their sensitivity to fluoride ions, making them promising candidates for chemosensor applications. Notably, unlike the parent azulene, which is sensitive to acid, these new compounds show negligible changes in absorption and NMR spectra when exposed to excess trifluoroacetic acid. This observation suggests that the introduction of BO unit effectively restrains the protonation of azulene moiety.

Abstract Crystalline borates have received great attention due to their various structures and wide applications. For a long time, the corner-sharing B–O unit is considered a basic rule in borate structural chemistry. The Dy 4 B 6 O 15 synthesized under high-pressure is the first oxoborate with edge-sharing [BO 4 ] tetrahedra, while the KZnB 3 O 6 is the first ambient pressure borate with the edge-sharing [BO 4 ] tetrahedra. The edge-sharing connection modes greatly enrich the structural chemistry of borates and are expected to expand new applications in the future. In this review, we summarize the recent progress in crystalline borates with edge-sharing [BO 4 ] tetrahedra. We discuss the synthesis, fundamental building blocks, structural features, and possible applications of these edge-sharing borates. Finally, we also discuss the future perspectives in this field.

Abstract We report heat capacity measurements of SrCu_{2}(BO_{3})_{2} under high pressure along with simulations of relevant quantum spin models and map out the (P,T) phase diagram of the material. We find a first-order quantum phase transition between the low-pressure quantum dimer paramagnet and a phase with signatures of a plaquette-singlet state below T=2  K. At higher pressures, we observe a transition into a previously unknown antiferromagnetic state below 4 K. Our findings can be explained within the two-dimensional Shastry-Sutherland quantum spin model supplemented by weak interlayer couplings. The possibility to tune SrCu_{2}(BO_{3})_{2} between the plaquette-singlet and antiferromagnetic states opens opportunities for experimental tests of quantum field theories and lattice models involving fractionalized excitations, emergent symmetries, and gauge fluctuations.

Abstract Aim: To explore the hemostatic effect of Phellodendri Cortex-derived carbon dots.
Materials & methods: Transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and a cell counting kit-8 assay were studied. Hemostatic effect of Phellodendri Cortex Carbonisatus-carbon dots (PCC-CDs) was studied in mouse bleeding models. To explore their related hemostatic mechanism, coagulation parameters and platelets were measured.
Results: The PCC-CDs ranged in diameter from 1.2 to 4.8 nm and had a quantum yield of 9.62%. They exhibited no toxicity up to concentrations of 1000 μg/ml. After administration, mice had a significantly shortened bleeding time and coagulation parameters and platelets significantly increased.
Conclusion: These results showed the definite hemostatic effect of PCC-CDs.

Abstract Tb³⁺-activated Sr₃Gd(BO₃)₃ green phosphors were prepared by conventional solid-state reaction. The vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) excitation, photoluminescence (PL) and decay properties of the phosphors in the visible range were investigated. The excitation spectrum showed a strong broad band from 160 to 200 nm with a maximum at 183 nm which was adjacent to the VUV excitation light source of 172 nm. Under excitation at 172 nm, the optimum co-doping concentration of Tb³⁺ was 10 mol%, and the emission intensity of Sr₃Gd₀.₉(BO₃)₃:0.1Tb³⁺ was comparable to that of commercial Zn₂SiO₄:Mn²⁺. The strongest emission peak of Sr₃Gd₀.₉(BO₃)₃:0.1Tb³⁺ was at 543 nm with chromaticity coordinates of (0.2626, 0.4922) and a lifetime of 2.32 ms. The optical properties of the green phosphor Sr₃Gd(BO₃)₃: Tb³⁺ make it suitable for use in Hg-free fluorescent lamps and plasma display panels.
