Abstract Objectives: The goal of this preregistered study was to synthesize empirical findings on age differences in motivated cognition using a meta-analytic approach, with a focus on the domains of cognitive control and episodic memory.
Methods: A systematic search of articles published before July 2022 yielded 27 studies of cognitive control (N = 1,908) and 73 studies of memory (N = 5,837). Studies had to include healthy younger and older adults, a within-subjects or between-subjects comparison of motivation (high vs low), and a measure of cognitive control or memory. The Age × Motivation effect size was meta-analyzed using random-effects models, and moderators were examined using meta-regressions and subgroup analyses.
Results: Overall, the Age × Motivation interaction was not significant in either cognitive domain, but the effect sizes in both domains were significantly heterogeneous, indicating a possible role of moderating factors in accounting for effect size differences. Moderator analyses revealed significant moderation by incentive type for episodic memory, but not for cognitive control. Older adults' memory was more sensitive to socioemotional rewards, whereas younger adults' memory was more sensitive to financial gains.
Discussion: Findings are discussed with reference to the dopamine hypothesis of cognitive aging and to life-span theories of motivational orientation. None of these theories is fully supported by the meta-analysis findings, highlighting the need for an integration of neurobiological, cognitive process, and life-span-motivational perspectives.

Abstract Despite substantial progress, Bangladesh still has a high rate of maternal deaths owing to difficulties during pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum period. Increasing facility delivery is mandatory to reach the goal of bringing down the MMR to <70 deaths/100,000 live births by 2030. In the era of digitalization, the introduction of e-registration and mHealth may aid the government in reaching this target. The southern part of Bangladesh is a hazard-prone area, where service uptake from institutions is low. This study aims to determine the effect of an e-registration tracking system and mHealth counseling on institutional deliveries to pregnant mothers in hazard-prone areas of southern Bangladesh. We will conduct an open-label, two-arm, non-randomized controlled cluster trial for six months and use three hazard-prone areas for intervention and another three hazard-prone areas for control. We will collect data at baseline and end-line of the study period using a structured questionnaire. We will enroll at least 268 pregnant mothers from the intervention and 268 pregnant mothers from the control areas after screening based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Pregnancy information will be obtained from the Family Welfare Assistant register. The respondents of the intervention arm will be registered in the e-Registration system, and receive voice call and text messages from the midwives to have their deliveries done in healthcare facilities. We will follow the participants until their delivery and exclude those respondents from the study who will have post-dated delivery, migrate out, lost to follow-up, or die during the study period. Random-intercept mixed-effect logistic regression will be performed to explain the relationship of e-registration and mHealth package with institutional delivery. Institutional delivery is still uncommon in Southern Bangladesh despite several interventions. Innovative approaches like e-registration and mHealth counseling may be helpful to bring women to health facilities. The findings from the study might enable the policy makers of Bangladesh to integrate the intervention package into the existing healthcare system. This experiment is registered in the open science framework. Abstract COVID-19 vaccination hesitancy has become a major concern around the world. Recent reports have also highlighted COVID-19 vaccination hesitancy in healthcare workers. Despite media reports and scientific publications, little is known about the extent and predictors of COVID-19 vaccination refusal among nurses. Thus, the purpose of this study was to assess COVID-19 vaccine refusal rates among nurses globally and to explore the reasons for refusal and factors associated with the uptake of the vaccines. A scoping review of the published literature was conducted, and a final pool of 51 studies ( n = 41,098 nurses) from 36 countries was included in this review. The overall pooled prevalence rate of COVID-19 vaccine refusal among 41,098 nurses worldwide was 20.7% (95% CI = 16.5–27%). The rates of vaccination refusal were higher from March 2020–December 2020 compared to the rates from January 2021–May 2021. The major reasons for COVID-19 vaccine refusal were concerns about vaccine safety, side effects, and efficacy; misinformation and lack of knowledge; and mistrust in experts, authorities, or pharmaceutical companies. The major factors associated with acceptance of the vaccines were: male sex, older age, and flu vaccination history. Evidence-based strategies should be implemented in healthcare systems worldwide to increase the uptake of COVID-19 vaccines among nurses to ensure their safety and the safety of their patients and community members.

Abstract Climate change is affecting the life and livelihood of people all over the world, where Bangladesh is one of the most susceptible countries. Anthropogenic climate change is one of the consequences of an increase in the emission of greenhouse gases. Green building practice may be helpful in reducing the emissions. Focusing on the importance of green building and climate change, this study was conducted in Bangladesh to understand the potentiality of green building practice as an adaptation to climate change. To fulfill the objective, 21 key informant interviews and four in-depth interviews were conducted with experts from various government and non-government sectors in Bangladesh. From the findings, it has been revealed that design and construction efficiency, and reduction of energy use are the highest ranked indicators of green building, furthermore, environment-friendly design and construction, and long-term resource efficiency aspects should be included in the design and construction practices of Bangladesh. The consensus is that, buildings should be designed to be more energy-efficient. Besides, the efficient use of roof gardens, climate change mitigation, and long-term resiliencies are identified as the most highlighted sub-indicators from the economic and social perspectives of green building benefits in Bangladesh. Although several organizations are working on green buildings in Bangladesh, a majority of the experts (57%) said the evaluating tools are not in place yet. Besides, public perceptions toward a new change and a lack of regulatory authorities are marked as major obstacles for implementing green building practices. Enforcing fair rules and regulations may aid in overcoming these challenges.
