Abstract Recently, the concept of a circular economy for carbon neutrality is emerging. In particular, waste plastics are one of the key wastes, and efforts are being made to recycle them as energy rather than dispose of them. Accordingly, the technology of producing and utilizing pyrolysis oil from waste plastics attracts attention. As it is an early stage of technology development, however, there are not many demonstrations and papers that analyze the technology broadly. The goal of this study is to propose building a circular economy on a university campus through waste plastic pyrolysis oil technology. To show its feasibility, waste plastic pyrolysis oil technology is analyzed comprehensively from economic, environmental, and policy perspectives using the scenario analysis technique on the university campus level. A methodology of the scenario analysis technique enables predicting the uncertainties. Since plastic pyrolysis oil technologies and carbon neutrality are accompanied by many uncertainties, this technique is expected to be an appropriate methodology for this study. First, the amount of pyrolysis oil production from waste plastics from the campus is estimated. Then, the cost and carbon emissions from waste plastics are estimated if the pyrolysis oil technology is used instead of the traditional waste disposal process. As a result, the total economic profits of up to 425,484,022 won/year (354,570.01 $/year) are expected when a circular economy is built using waste plastic pyrolysis oil. In addition, it is also confirmed that greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions can be reduced by up to 840,891 kgCO

Abstract Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health burden. There still remains a large gap between the notified and estimated incident cases. Extrapulmonary (EP) TB represents 15% of all TB cases and the diagnosis is more challenging due to the paucity of the organism. Smear microscopy is often insensitive and culture methods are prolonged. With the introduction of Xpert MTB/RIF and more recently Xpert Ultra, this has changed TB diagnostics by providing a rapid accessible platform to diagnose TB and identify rifampicin resistance within 2 h.
Areas covered: The diagnostic accuracy and the clinical role of Xpert MTB/RIF and Xpert Ultra in the different forms of EPTB.
Expert opinion: Whilst significant advances have been made in TB diagnostics, there is still a need to optimize the diagnostic yield of Xpert MTB/RIF and Xpert Ultra in EPTB samples. Research is needed to facilitate standardization and optimal preparation of samples as well as understanding the role of Xpert MTB/RIF and Xpert Ultra in different burden settings. Alongside the current GeneXpert platform, the launch of rapid second-line drug resistance polymerase chain reactions and whole genome sequencing may help tackle the global health burden with a more comprehensive diagnostic approach and appropriate treatment.

Abstract Text-to-SQL is a task that converts natural language questions into SQL queries. Recent text-to-SQL models employ two decoding methods: sketch-based and generation-based, but each has its own shortcomings. The sketch-based method has limitations in performance as it does not reflect the relevance between SQL elements, while the generation-based method may increase inference time and cause syntactic errors. Therefore, we propose a novel decoding method, Hybrid decoder, which combines both methods. This reflects inter-SQL element information and defines elements that can be generated, enabling the generation of syntactically accurate SQL queries. Additionally, we introduce a Value prediction module for predicting values in the WHERE clause. It simplifies the decoding process and reduces the size of vocabulary by predicting values at once, regardless of the number of conditions. The results of evaluating the significance of Hybrid decoder indicate that it improves performance by effectively incorporating mutual information among SQL elements, compared to the sketch-based method. It also efficiently generates SQL queries by simplifying the decoding process in the generation-based method. In addition, we design a new evaluation measure to evaluate if it generates syntactically correct SQL queries. The result demonstrates that the proposed model generates syntactically accurate SQL queries.

Abstract Abstract Obesity can cause chronic metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and nonalcoholic fatty liver diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the antiobesity and antidiabetic effects of the dairy bacterium P. freudenreichii MJ2 isolated from raw milk using 3T3-L1 cells and high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obese mice. Lipid accumulation and the expression levels of genes related to lipid metabolism, such as preadipocytic gene (Pref-1), adipogenic genes (PPARγ and C/EBPα), and lipogenic genes (FAS, SCD-1, and ACC), significantly decreased in heat-killed P. freudenreichii MJ2 (hkMJ2)-treated adipocytes. Live P. freudenreichii MJ2 (MJ2), hkMJ2, and Lactobacillus plantarum (LP) decreased body weight gain in HFD-induced obese mice compared with the model group. The liver and epididymal white adipose tissue weights in the MJ2-, hkMJ2- and LP-treated groups were significantly lower than those in the model group. The expression levels of genes and proteins related to adipogenesis and lipogenesis significantly decreased and lipolysis (HSL and ATGL) increased in the MJ2-, hkMJ2-, and LP-treated groups. The expression levels of genes related to fatty acid β-oxidation (CPT-1α and ACOX1) increased in the MJ2-, hkMJ2-, and LP-treated groups. In addition, blood glucose and fasting insulin levels in the MJ2- and hkMJ2-treated groups decreased compared with those in the model group. P. freudenreichii MJ2 ameliorate insulin resistance by obesity. In conclusion, both MJ2 and hkMJ2 alleviate obesity and metabolic syndrome.
