With the rapid development of the computer and Internet techniques, the Internet appears some news aggregator sites containing a large number of news articles, thus leading to advanced information retrieval requirements. Particularly, some news sites, such as Google news, provide automatically classified news information and keyword based search mechanism to readers for retrieving user-interested news events. However, most news sites do not provide currently to retrieve the developing clues of a news event and display the search results by the topic map with visualization user interface. Therefore, this study presents a novel news search engine with automatic user query expansion mechanism and a friendly topic map user interface based on the automatic generation scheme of news ontology constructed by Modified Hopfield Neural Networks. The experimental results indicate that the proposed query expansion mechanism based on the generated news ontology can efficiently help users to retrieve the user-interested news events. Meanwhile, the providing topic map of news events ranked by time stamp also provides benefits in terms of observing the developing context of a news event. 頁次:19-41

Abstract Chronic kidney disease (CKD) poses significant challenges to public health and healthcare systems, demanding a comprehensive understanding of its progressive nature. Prior methods have often fallen short in capturing the dynamic and individual variability of renal function. This study aims to address this gap by introducing a novel approach for the individualized assessment of CKD progression. A cohort of 1042 patients, comprising 700 with stage 3a and 342 with stage 3b to stage 5 CKD, treated at a veteran general hospital in Taiwan from 2006 to 2019, was included in the study. A comprehensive dataset spanning 12 years, consisting of clinical measurements, was collected and analyzed using joint models to predict the progression to hemodialysis treatment. The study reveals that the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) can be considered an endogenous factor influenced by innate biochemical markers. Serum creatinine, blood pressure, and urinary protein excretion emerged as valuable factors for predicting CKD progression. The joint model, combining longitudinal and survival analyses, demonstrated predictive versatility across various CKD severities. This innovative approach enhances conventional models by concurrently incorporating both longitudinal and survival analyses and provides a nuanced understanding of the variables influencing renal function in CKD patients. This personalized model enables a more precise assessment of renal failure risk, tailored to each patient's unique clinical profile. The findings contribute to improving the management of CKD patients and provide a foundation for personalized healthcare interventions in the context of renal diseases.

Abstract This study presents a combined carbon footprint (CF) and environment damage assessment with a cradle-to-gate approach for an ignition coil. The process considers a data flow of product as the phases: raw materials preparation, part processing, final-product finishing, and packaging. The assessment was performed to explore an automotive ignition pencil coil during its developing phase. This study illustrated that a green product problem could be evaluated as a carbon footprint and environmental hazard. By using the conceptual flow to set up the assessment procedure, a product can be decomposed into several material ingredients to specify the input parameters in a Life Cycle Assessment. A total CF of an ignition coil can be investigated individually by each of the materials. The total CF of an ignition pencil coil equal to 0.5254 kgCO 2 eq was calculated. The insulated filling and copper winding of an ignition coil generated the two most impacting processes in terms of CF (21.83% and 17.50%, respectively). EPS (Environmental Priority Strategies) methodology evaluates the environmental damage of the product in the product design process. As a result, the metal material has a seriously damaging impact on human health and inanimate resources, especially inanimate resources. The total CF generated by the newly devised ignition coil is over 39~62 percent less than a general type one that exists in the current market. The new ignition pencil coil also uses fewer raw materials and therefore reduces environmental damage to the Earth.

Abstract In recent years, many university libraries have begun to develop scholar repositories or academic hubs that can present institutional research results from an author’s perspective instead of the perspective of articles used in the most current institutional repository systems. Accordingly, National Chengchi University Library reshaped the original institutional repository system as an integrated platform called NCCU Academic Hub with a broader range of researcher information, multiple and visualized functions, and an author’s perspective on researcher information for more effectively spreading academic research outcomes. In order to understand the user behavior of this platform, this study used xAPI to record the users’ operation historical processes, and through user behavior analysis, we hope to understand the behavior characteristics and behavior transfer patterns of users in general, users in different regions, and users with high or low download frequency of papers. The analysis is valuable for understanding how users operate the platform, how to improve the service model of this platform, and how to optimize the web pages and functional design of this platform.

Abstract The performance improvement of advanced electronic packaging material is an important topic to meet the stringent demands of modern semiconductor devices. This paper studies the incorporation of nano-alumina powder and thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) into thermoplastic polystyrene matrix to tune the thermal and mechanical properties after injection molding process. In the sample preparation, acetone was employed as a solvent to avoid the powder escape into surrounding during the mechanical mixing in a twin-screw mixer. The pressure and shear force were able to mix the composite with good uniformity in compositions. The samples with different compositions were fabricated using injection molding. The measured results showed that adding 5 wt.% of TPE into the simple polystyrene was able to raise the melt flow index from 12.3 to 13.4 g/10 min while the thermal decomposition temperature remained nearly unchanged. Moreover, the addition of small amount of nano-alumina powder could quickly improve the mechanical property by raising its storage modulus. For example, the addition of 3 wt.% of nano-alumina powder had an increase of 7.3% in storage modulus. Over doping of nano-alumina powder in the composite, such as 10 wt.%, on the other hand, lowered the storage modulus from 2404 MPa to 2069 MPa. The experimental study demonstrated that the tuning in the polystyrene's thermal and mechanical properties is feasible by composition modification with nano-alumina powder and TPE. The better concentration of the additives should be determined according to the specific applications.
