Abstract Tai Chi Chuan (TCC) is an increasingly popular multimodal mind-body practice with potential cognitive benefits, yet the neurobiological mechanisms underlying these effects, particularly in relation to brain white matter (WM) microstructure, remain largely unknown. In this study, we used diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and the attention network test (ANT) to compare 22 TCC practitioners and 18 healthy controls. We found extensive differences in fractional anisotropy (FA), mean diffusivity (MD), axial diffusivity (AD), and radial diffusivity (RD) between the two groups. Specifically, TCC practitioners had significantly different diffusion metrics in the corticospinal tract (CST), fornix (FX)/stria terminalis (ST), and cerebral peduncle (CP). We also observed a significant correlation between increased FA values in the right CP and ANT performance in TCC practitioners. Our findings suggest that optimized regional WM microstructure may contribute to the complex information processing associated with TCC practice, providing insights for preventing cognitive decline and treating neurological disorders with cognitive impairment in clinical rehabilitation.

Abstract AIM:To study and investigate the change situation of trace elements and body comprehensive immune state of patients with viral keratitis. METHODS:Sixty-two patients with viral keratitis in our hospital from December 2011 to February 2014 were selected as observation group, 62 healthy persons with health education at the same time were the control group, then the serum and tear Zn, Cu, cellular immunity and erythrocyte immunity of two groups were compared, and the detection results of observation group with different types and severity degree were compared. RESULTS:The serum and tear Zn of observation group was all lower than that in control group, serum and tear Cu was higher than that in control group, cellular immunity and erythrocyte immunity indexes were all worse than that in control group, the detection results of observation group with mild, moderate and severe infection had significant differences( P <0.05), while the detection results of observation group with herpes simplex keratitis and herpes zoster keratitis had no significant differences( P >0.05). CONCLUSION: The change of trace elements and body comprehensive immune state of patients with viral keratitis are obvious, and the severity degree for the detection levels of keratitis are greater.

Abstract Objective: Intramedullary spinal cavernous malformations (ISCMs) are rare vascular lesions of the spinal cord with unclear natural history and controversy over treatment. This study aimed to report a series of symptomatic ISCMs underwent microsurgical management to illustrate the natural history, clinical presentation, and surgical outcomes and to evaluate factors associated with hemorrhage events and neurological prognosis.
Methods: This single-center retrospective study included 29 consecutive patients with whose demographic, symptomology, imaging, neurological, and surgical data were collected. The risk for hemorrhage events and factors affecting surgical outcomes were retrospectively analyzed.
Results: There were 12 female (41.4%) and 17 male patients (58.6%), with an average age of 45.2 years (range, 17-69 years). The mean size of the lesion was 9.7 mm (range, 3-20 mm). Most patients had a bowel or/and bladder dysfunction symptom (n = 11, 37.9%), followed by sensory deficits (n = 5, 17.2%), gait disturbance (n = 5, 17.2%), pain (n = 4, 13.8%), and weakness (n = 4, 13.8%), most (n = 15, 51.7%) with a chronic onset. All patients received total resection without rehemorrhages after surgical resection in follow-up. Sixty-five point five percent patients (n = 19) improved, 13.8% (n = 4) remained stable, 20.7% (n = 6) got worsen. The overall annual hemorrhage risk was 2.1% per patient-year. A total of 27 hemorrhages occurred in the 18 patients, of which rehemorrhage rate increased to 50.0% (n = 9) with a previous history of hemorrhage. Patients with smaller lesion sizes were more likely to have hemorrhage or rehemorrhage events (p = 0.008). Recurrent hemorrhage of the lesions was a risk factor for neurological outcomes (p = 0.016).
Conclusion: The risk of rehemorrhage was significantly increased in symptomatic ISCM patients with a previous history of hemorrhage. Rehemorrhage was a risk factor for neurological outcomes. Patients can benefit from microsurgical treatment to avoid rehemorrhage and further neurological deterioration.

Abstract Aqueous zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors (ZHSCs) have attracted considerable attention because they are inexpensive and safe. However, the inadequate energy densities, power densities, and cycling performance of current ZHSC energy-storage devices are impediments that need to be overcome to enable the further development and commercialization of this technology. To address these issues, in this study, we prepared carbon-based ZHSCs using a series of porous carbon materials derived from Sanhua liquor lees (SLPCs). Among them, the best performance was observed for SLPC-A13, which exhibited excellent properties and a high-surface-area structure (2667 m

Abstract Urinary incontinence (UI) is a major health burden to aging patients. The function of the trace element copper in male UI is unclear. To elaborate on the impact of serum copper levels on UI, we investigated the association between serum copper levels and UI using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), a cross-sectional survey of male participants aged 20 years old and older in the United States from 2011 to 2016. We performed weighted multivariable logistic and linear regression models to evaluate the association between serum copper levels and UI. Compared with serum copper levels in quartile 1 (Q1), serum copper levels in Q2 and Q3 were associated with stress urinary incontinence (SUI) after adjusting for all potential confounders (Q2, odds ratio [OR] = 0.292, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.093-0.920, P = 0.047; Q3, OR = 0.326, 95% CI = 0.113-0.937, P = 0.049). No significance was found between serum copper levels and other types of UI. Our findings revealed that the serum copper levels were inversely related to SUI in adult males. Race and education level might modulate this relationship. Further studies are warranted for validation.

Abstract Background: The incidence of gastric cancer remains high, and it is the sixth most common cancer and the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Oral contrast-enhanced ultrasonography is a simple, non-invasive, and painless method for the diagnosis of gastric tumors.
Aim: To explore the diagnostic value of oral contrast-enhanced ultrasonography for the detection of gastric tumors.
Methods: The screening results based on oral contrast-enhanced ultrasonography and electronic gastroscopy were compared with those of the postoperative pathological examination.
Results: Among 42 patients with gastric tumors enrolled in the study, the diagnostic accordance rate was 95.2% for oral contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (
Conclusion: The accordance rate of qualitative diagnosis by oral contrast-enhanced ultrasonography is comparable to that of gastroscopy, and it could be used as the preferred method for the early screening of gastric tumors.
