Abstract Infant formulas are often supplemented to foster the development of a healthy gut microbiota. In this issue of Cell Host & Microbe, Heppner et al. present an elaborate clinical trial examining the impact of formula supplementation on the development and circadian rhythmicity of the microbiota during the first year of life.

Abstract Objective: This study focused on analyzing the clinical value and effect of magnetic resonance imaging plus computed tomography (MRCT) and CT in the clinical diagnosis of cerebral palsy in children.
Methods: From February 2021 to April 2023, 94 children diagnosed with cerebral palsy were selected from our hospital for study subjects. These patients were divided into CT and MRI groups, with CT examination given to the CT group and MRI examination given to the MRI group. The positive rate of the two examination methods in the diagnosis of cerebral palsy was compared, different imaging signs in two groups of children with cerebral palsy were compared, and the diagnostic test typing results between two groups were further analyzed.
Results: The diagnostic positivity rate of the children in the MRI group was 91.49%, which was significantly higher than that of the children in the CT group (70.21%) (P < 0.05). In both groups, encephalomalacia, bilateral frontal subdural effusions, and gray-white matter atrophy of the brain were the main signs, and the difference in the proportion of these three imaging signs between the two groups was not significant (P > 0.05). Differences between the two groups examined for cerebral palsy subtypes were not significant (P > 0.05).
Conclusion: The positive rate of pediatric cerebral palsy examined by MRI is higher than that of CT diagnosis, but the clinic should organically combine the two to further improve the detection validity and accuracy.

Abstract Sodium (Na) metal batteries represent an optimal choice for the forthcoming generation of large-scale, cost-effective energy storage systems. However, Na metal anodes encounter several formidable challenges during the Na plating and stripping processes, which encompass the formation of an unstable solid electrolyte interface, uncontrollable dendrite growth, and infinite volume expansion. These issues result in a reduced Coulombic efficiency, shortened battery lifespan, and potential safety hazards, thereby constraining their commercial development. Therefore, addressing these challenges to ensure the cycling stability of Na metal anodes stands as a paramount requirement for practical applications. Among the reported strategies, three-dimensional conductive scaffolds possessing a high surface area and porous structure are acknowledged for their significant potential in stabilizing Na metal anodes. Compared with conventional electron-conducting scaffolds, emerging mixed ion/electron-conductive (MIEC) scaffolds provide rapid ion/electron transport pathways, which enable uniform Na

Abstract Trisomy 8 syndrome, also known as " Warkany syndrome type 2 ", was first reported in 1971. Complete trisomy 8 are mostly aborted spontaneouslyinthe first trimester. Trisomy 8 mosaicism (T8M), predominated in the current cases reported. Itisahighlyheterogeneous Chromosome disorder. We know little about its effects on fertility. In this case, a patient with T8M combined with phenylketonuria was diagnosed. She's mentally retarded. After evaluating the anatomy and function of the reproductive system, the patient conceived through preimplantationgenetictesting-intracytoplasmicsperminjection-embryotransfer (PGT-ICSI-ET) and obtained a healthy fetus, which is the first report. The study focuses on the maintenance of fertility in patients with T8M, the effects of phenylketonuria and genetic counseling.

Abstract Abstract A new fluid alternative to slick water for fracturing shale gas can reduce the waste of water resources and improve the extraction efficiency, enabling volumetric fracturing. For the new fracturing technique, the experiments of different release pressures under pre-injection and for pre-injection were conducted using a self-designed true triaxial experimental system, and the pressure pulse curves were plotted to analyze the fracturing principle. The experimental results showed that: (1) the pressure rise curve in the reactor can be divided into five stages: initial reaction, linear pressure rise, rate slowdown, instantaneous pressure release, and residual pressure stages; (2) Pre-filling fracturing requires a smaller expansion ratio, weaker pressure degradation, resulting in better fracturing effect; (3) The increase in the initial fracture length leads to an increase in the pressure required to extend the fracture, and high-pressure subcritical water impact fracturing achieved fracture extension at a lower fluid pressure; (4) The fractal dimension has a strong linear relationship with fracture complexity, which is a new option when evaluating the fracturing effect. Volumetric fracturing allows for the creation of more tiny trenches that increase reservoir permeability, leading to better recovery of the reservoir’s energy resources.
