    Abstract Euthanasia is the most important ethical challenges in the entire field of medicine. Various factors may influence the medical students' attitudes toward euthanasia, including personal beliefs, values, and personality traits. This research aimed at examining spiritual intelligence as a moderator of the relationship between openness to experience and attitude toward euthanasia. In this cross-sectional study, a total of 219 medical students (85 men and 134 women) in Zahedan, Iran, in 2022, were selected by convenience sampling method and evaluated using the socio-demographic information form (including age, gender, and medical education level), Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory, 24-item Brief HEXACO Inventory, and Euthanasia Attitude Scale, followed by using SPSS v25 for data analysis. The study results showed that openness to experience positively and spiritual intelligence negatively associated with attitude toward euthanasia. Also, the regression analysis revealed that spiritual intelligence had a moderating role in the relationship between openness to experience and attitude toward euthanasia. It seems that paying attention to personality differences and spiritual intelligence training among medical students can play an important role in changing their attitudes toward euthanasia.

    Abstract Background. Burnout syndrome may threaten medical students’ professional life through negative effects on their academic work and personal life. Therefore, it is very important to identify the risk and protective factors of burnout syndrome in this group of subjects. The present study aimed to determine the association of socio-demographic characteristics, current substance/medication abuse, and personality dimensions with academic burnout among medical students, and examine physical activity as a potential moderator of the personality dimensions-academic burnout relationship. Materials and Methods. In this cross-sectional study, a total of 400 medical students from the four courses of basic sciences, physiopathology, stagers, and internship (100 people at each course) in Zahedan, Iran, in 2018, were selected by stratified sampling method and evaluated using the socio-demographic information form, Baecke physical activity questionnaire, Temperament and character inventory, and Breso’s academic burnout questionnaire. Finally, descriptive statistical methods, the Kruskal-Wallis test, Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient, and hierarchical linear regression were implemented for data analysis. Results. The participants included 156 men and 244 women. The overall frequencies for current substance/medication abuse, exhaustion, cynicism, inefficacy, and academic burnout were reported to be 27.5, 10.3, 12.3, 6.5, and 25.8 percent, respectively. The study results showed that physical activity, persistence, and cooperativeness were negative, and the years in medical school, current substance/medication abuse, and novelty seeking were positively associated with academic burnout. Also, the regression analysis results revealed the moderating effect of physical activity in the novelty-seeking-academic burnout link. Conclusions.     Abstract Over the last two decades, all branches of science and technology have rapidly progressed, including the medical area. In Middle Eastern countries, including Iran, the increased growth of technology and science production has led to this rapid medical progress. Recent evidence has revealed that the increase in the number of scientific papers generated in Iran after the Iraqi imposed war against Iran has been eight times that in six main countries in the Middle East, including Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Syria. Although Iran's output in sciences has been still small in comparison to developed countries, it has significantly grown in the last decade, which is hoped to continue to increase and improve. The current paper shows a portion of the science production in Iran over the past two years based on papers published in the European Journal of Translational Myology in 2020 and 2021. Although the Issue 32 (1), 2022 in a special section contains several typescripts from Iran, they were not included in our analysis since they have not been yet indexed in the Scopus database. However, our report would encourage researchers of diverse nationalities to take part in research works and author joint papers. Further, this paper can be used to rate the universities and research centers regarding their science output, as well as being beneficial to university students, lecturers, and governments.

    Abstract Ship design involves optimizing the hull in order to enhance safety, economic efficiency, and technical efficiency. Despite the long-term research on this problem and a number of significant conclusions, some of its content still needs to be improved. In this study, block and midship coefficients are incorporated to optimize the ship's hull. The considered ship was a patrol vessel. The seakeeping analysis was performed employing strip theory. The hull form was generated using a fuzzy model. Though the body lines generated by the midship coefficient (CM) and block coefficient (CB) varied indecently, the other geometric parameters remained the same. Multi-objective optimization was used to optimize CB and CM. According to the results of this study, these coefficients have a significant impact on the pitch motion of the patrol vessel as well as the motion sickness index. Heave and roll motions, as well as the added resistance, were not significantly influenced by the coefficients of CM and CB. However, increasing the hull form parameters increases the maximum Response Amplitude Operator (RAO) of heave and roll motions. The frequency of occurrence of the maximum roll RAO was in direct relation with CB and CM. These coefficients, however, had no meaningful impact on the occurrence frequency of other motion indices. In the end, the CB and CM coefficients were selected based on the vessel's seakeeping performance. These findings might be used by shipbuilders to construct the vessel with more efficient seakeeping performance.
