Abstract With technological advances and the establishment of e-commerce models, business challenges have shifted to online platforms. The promise of embedding self-executing and autonomous programs into blockchain technologies has attracted increased interest and its use in niche solutions. Using qualitative interviews, this paper sought the opinions of the eleven industry leaders regarding smart contracts. Findings reveal that the technology is gaining momentum in e-commerce, particularly in financial transfer, record-keeping, real estate, and property management, insurance, mortgage, supply chain management, data storage, authorization of credit, denaturalized intelligence, aviation sector, shipping of products, invoice financing and other domains. The significant benefits of widespread adoption and deployment of smart contracts include their capability to deliver decentralization, efficacy, cost-effectiveness, transparency, speed, autonomy, transparency, privacy, and security, encouraging the emergence of novel business models. Albeit these benefits that revolutionize online transactions, the technology faced multifaceted challenges. Smart technologies are only a decade old and are not advanced in security, transparency, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory framework. Furthermore, organizational, and technical challenges limit their deployment: incompatibility with legacy systems, scalability, bugs, speed, and lack of talent and understanding regarding smart contracts. Consequently, policymakers, developers, researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders need to invest effort and time to foster the technologies and address pertinent issues to enable the global adoption of smart contracts by small and big businesses.

Abstract Various methods of reconstruction are available for reconstructing oral cancer defects, but all of them have their inherent drawbacks. The superiorly based platysma myocutaneous flap is a common reconstruction option for intra-oral defects following oral cancer resections. We present our results of using platysmal flaps in reconstructing intraoral defects following oral cavity cancer resection in our 7 patients along with resection of three cases of premalignant conditions of oral cavity. All the patients were males of age ranging from 24 to 42 years and diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma of oral cavity stage I and II were included in this study.Of 10 patients eight had no postoperative complications. One patient developed partial skin loss of neck donor site, which was managed conservatively. Other patient had complete flap loss which healed with secondary intention. We recommend this flap as incision is always away from the face, the scars are hidden beneath collars and the patients are very comfortable with good cosmetics and functional outcomes.\.

  4. Article: Effect of Pre-sowing Treatment and Sowing Time on Germination and Early Performance of Melia composita

Jaan, Rafia / Sood, Kamal Kishor

Indian journal of ecology. 2022 Mar., v. 49, no. 1

    2022

Abstract: The pre-sowing treatments (soaking drupes in gibberellic acid 50 ppm for 24 hours, soaking drupes in gibberellic acid 100 ppm for 24 hours, soaking drupes in concentrated H₂S₄0 for 10 minutes, soaking drupes in concentrated H₂S₄0 for 15 minutes, ... ...

Abstract The pre-sowing treatments (soaking drupes in gibberellic acid 50 ppm for 24 hours, soaking drupes in gibberellic acid 100 ppm for 24 hours, soaking drupes in concentrated H₂S₄0 for 10 minutes, soaking drupes in concentrated H₂S₄0 for 15 minutes, mechanical scarification cracking of drupes, soaking drupes in cow dung slurry for 30 days and control-no treatment) were tested to enhance the germination of Melia composita at two sowing time (20ᵗʰ April and 04ᵗʰ May). Germination and most of the growth parameters were recorded highest in mechanical scarification. The sowing of 20ᵗʰ April had significantly higher collar diameter, number of leaves, fresh shoot weight, dry shoot weight, length ofprimary root, number of secondary roots, fresh root weight, dry root weight, total seedling fresh weight, total seedling dry weight and seedling quality index than the sowing date of 04ᵗʰ May. The interaction of mechanical scarification x sowing-20ᵗʰ April also had significantly higher values for the most studied growth parameters than the remaining interactions. The study implies that mechanical scarification of drupes of Melia composita and sowing in the month of April is appropriate for obtaining good quality planting stock.

Abstract The sustainable utilization of resources motivate us to create eco-friendly processes for synthesizing novel carbon nanomaterials from waste biomass by minimizing chemical usage and reducing energy demands. By keeping sustainability as a prime focus in the present work, we have made the effective management of Parthenium weeds by converting them into carbon-based nanomaterial through hydrothermal treatment followed by heating in a tube furnace under the nitrogen atmosphere. The XPS studies confirm the natural presence of nitrogen and oxygen-containing functional groups in the biomass-derived carbon. The nanostructure has adopted a layered two-dimensional structure, clearly indicated through HRTEM images. Further, the nanomaterials are analyzed for their ability towards the electrochemical detection of mercury, with a detection limit of 6.17 μM, while the limit of quantification and sensitivity was found to be 18.7 μM and 0.4723 μM μA

Abstract Sarcopenic obesity (SO) is a chronic condition and an emerging health challenge, in view of the growing elderly population and the obesity epidemic. Due to a lack of awareness among treating doctors and the non-specific nauture of the associated symptoms, SO remains grossly underdiagnosed. There is no consensus yet on a standard definition or diagnostic criteria for SO, which limits the estimation of the global prevalence of this condition. It has been linked to numerous metabolic derangements, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and mortality. The treatment of SO is multimodal and requires expertise across multiple specialties. While dietary modifications and exercise regimens have shown a potential therapeutic benefit, there is currently no proven pharmacological management for SO. However, numerous drugs and the role of bariatric surgery are still under trial, and have great scope for further research. This article covers the available literature regarding the definition, diagnostic criteria, and prevalence of SO, with available evidence linking it to CVD, metabolic disease and mortality, and an overview of current directives on management.

Abstract Heart failure (HF) is an important, yet under recognized and under diagnosed complication of diabetes. This communication describes the clinical features of heart failure, and shares a validated tool which helps identify HF. This information will be of help to all health care professionals, especially those who work in primary care settings with minimal access to advanced imaging and biochemical investigations.

Abstract The sequence of 2D transition metal carbides, carbonitrides, and nitrides has gained a lot of interest since the discovery of Ti3C2. About thirty new MXene compounds have been identified, with eight different MXene synthesis methods. The presence of surface terminations such as hydroxyl, oxygen, fluorine, or chlorine in the materials described thus far indicates strong hydrophilicity as well as metallic conductivity MXenes are becoming increasingly popular due to their diverse chemistry, which has sparked a surge in academic interest. We will study and examine the many methods of fabricating MXenes in this review, which will cover everything from MAX phase etching to exfoliation, as well as the best approach to synthesise them and their most current applications.
