Abstract Introduction: Local anesthesia is a routine part of all dental procedures that can cause complications. One of the most important side effects of intraoral anesthesia is ocular disorders. The aim of this study was to investigate the knowledge and proper management of dentists in Yazd City regarding ocular complications following local anesthesia injection. Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, 193 dentists working in Yazd City were included in the study based on census sampling and they completed a questionnaire, which was consisted of two parts: demographic information and questions referring the knowledge and practice; data were analyzed using SPSS 16 software and ANOVA and T-test and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: Mean knowledge score of the participantswas 1.21 ± 0. 6 with a variation range of 0 to 2. The mean awareness score of women was higher than of men, and a statistically significant difference was observed (P-value≤0.05). There was no significant relationship between awareness score and level of education, work experience and age (P-value≥0.05). Only 13.1% of general dentists and 25% of specialists had experienced ocular complications after intraoral anesthesia injection. Conclusion: Dentists of Yazd City had an average knowledge about ocular complications following local anesthesia injection and due to the great importance of prevention and management of ocular complications following local anesthetic injection, it seems necessary to hold retraining courses on this topic and how to manage it.

Abstract: This study was performed to evaluate the effects of different amounts and particle size of zinc oxide (ZnO) on villus height (VH), villus width (VW), crypt depth (CD) and VH to CD ratio (VH: CD), and expression of zonula occludens‐1 (ZO‐1), occludin (OC) ...

Abstract This study was performed to evaluate the effects of different amounts and particle size of zinc oxide (ZnO) on villus height (VH), villus width (VW), crypt depth (CD) and VH to CD ratio (VH: CD), and expression of zonula occludens‐1 (ZO‐1), occludin (OC) and tumour necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α) in broiler breeders. A total of 350 (Ross 308) broiler breeder hens of 54 weeks randomly assigned to seven treatments, included control basal diet (C) without added Zn, C+ 100, and 130 mg Zn per kg of diet from Large (L) (100–1000 nm) and Small (S) (<100 nm) particle size ZnO (LZnO100 and 130; SZnO100 and 130), C and SZnO100 challenged with lipopolysaccharide (C+LPS and SZnO100+LPS). Each diet was fed to five replicates consisting of ten birds each. The middle part of the duodenum, jejunum and ileum was used for morphological assessments. To assess the gene expression of ZO‐1, OC and TNF‐α in the jejunum samples were excised. Results showed that the supplementing 130 ppm SZnO increased VH:CD in the duodenum (p < 0.05). VW in the duodenum and all the evaluated morphometric indices in jejunum and ileum were not affected by the dietary treatment (p > 0.05). ZO‐1 mRNA abundance in C+LPS group compared to SZnO100+LPS group was significantly decreased and increased by LPS and SZnO100 respectively. The SZnO‐100 increased OC gene expression in compare to C+LPS group. The expression of TNF‐α in C+LPS treatment was higher than other groups (p < 0.05). The lowest and the highest litter moisture and foot‐pad dermatitis (FPD) were observed in LZnO‐130 and C treatments respectively (p < 0.05). Improving the physical properties of ZnO affect on VH:CD. Broiler breeder diet with ZnO enhance ZO‐1, OC and mitigate TNF‐α gene expression in jejunum maintenance of gut health in broiler breeders.

Abstract Todays, nanoliposomes (NLPs) are considered as one of the most efficient nanocarriers to deal with bacteria, practically in food products. These nanodelivery systems are able to be loaded with different bioactive compounds. The main aim of this review is investigating recent approaches (mostly from the years of 2018 to 2022) regarding development of nanoliposomal natural antibacterial compounds. In this regard, NLPs alone, combined with films, coatings, or fibers, and in coated forms are reviewed as advanced delivery systems of antibacterial substances. Moreover, a robust and comprehensive coverage of the morphological and physical properties of formulated NLPs as well as their interactions with antibacterial substances are discussed. The importance of NLPs to encapsulate antibacterial ingredients, advantages and drawbacks, antibacterial pathways of formulated NLPs, and comparison of them with pure antibacterial bioactive compounds are also explained.

Abstract This study with the aim of investigating the effect of group discussion method on social skills and Academic achievement in primary six students in City Maybod. The research method is quasi-experimental and it is based on pretest-posttest procedure involving a control group. The sample was composed of 32 students of the sixth grade, the number of students were selected using multi-stage cluster sampling. Data were collected through the social skills questionnaire and researcher-made achievement test. The results of MANCOVA indicated that there is statistically significant differences between the means of social skills and behavioral problems of the students trained through group discussion method and the students trained through traditional method. Also, the results of ANCOVA indicated that there is statistically significant differences between the means of academic achievement of the students trained group discussion method and the students trained through traditional method. Thus, it can be concluded that the group discussion method has a substantial role in increasing students’ social skills and academic achievement and reducing students’ behavioral problems.
