Abstract P2-phase layered cathode materials with distinguished electrochemical performance for sodium-ion batteries have attracted extensive attention, but they face critical challenges of transition metal layer sliding and unfavorable formation of hydration phase upon cycling, thus showing inferior long cycle life. Herein, a new approach is reported to modulate the local structure of P2 material by constructing a state-of-the-art in-plane BO

Abstract Oxidative dehydrogenation of propane (ODHP) is a promising process for producing propene. Recently, some boron-based catalysts have exhibited excellent olefin selectivity in ODHP. However, their complex synthetic routes and poor stability under high-temperature reaction conditions have hindered their practical application. Herein, we report a self-evolution method rather than conventional assembly approaches to acquire structures with excellent stability under a high propane conversion, from a single precursor-MgB

Abstract Oil spill pollution at sea causes significant damage to marine ecosystems. Quad-polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has become an essential technology since it can provide polarization features for marine oil spill detection. Using deep learning models based on polarimetric features, oil spill detection can be achieved. However, there is insufficient feature extraction due to model depth, small reception field lend due to loss of target information, and fixed hyperparameter for models. The effect of oil spill detection is still incomplete or misclassified. To solve the above problems, we propose an improved deep learning model named BO-DRNet. The model can obtain a more sufficiently and fuller feature by ResNet-18 as the backbone in encoder of DeepLabv3+, and Bayesian Optimization (BO) was used to optimize the model’s hyperparameters. Experiments were conducted based on ten prominent polarimetric features were extracted from three quad-polarimetric SAR images obtained by RADARSAT-2. Experimental results show that compared with other deep learning models, BO-DRNet performs best with a mean accuracy of 74.69% and a mean dice of 0.8551. This paper provides a valuable tool to manage upcoming disasters effectively.

Abstract The number of patents increases quickly, while more and more low-quality patents are emerging. It's important to identify high-quality patents from massive data quickly and accurately for organizational R&D decision-making and patent layout. However, due to low percentage of high-quality patents, it is challenging to identify them efficiently. In order to solve above problem, we reconstruct the existing index system for identifying high-quality patents by adding 4 features from technological strength of patentees. Furthermore, we propose an improved model by integrating resampling technique and ensemble learning algorithm. First, generative adversarial networks (GAN) are used to expand minority samples. Second, Extreme Gradient Boosting algorithm (XGBoost) with Bayesian optimization (BO) is used to identify high-quality patents. For clarity, this model is called a GAN-BO-XGBoost model. To test the effectiveness of above model, we use patent data in field of lithography technology. Tenfold cross-validation is carried out to evaluate the performance between our proposed model and other models. The results show that GAN-BO-XGBoost model performs better and it's more stable than other models.

Abstract Bayesian optimization (BO) is an efficient and flexible global optimization framework that is applicable to a very wide range of engineering applications. To leverage the capability of the classical BO, many extensions, including multi-objective, multi-fidelity, parallelization, latent-variable model, have been proposed to improve the limitation of the classical BO framework. In this work, we propose a novel multi-objective (MO) extension, called srMO-BO-3GP, to solve the MO optimization problems in a sequential setting. Three different Gaussian processes (GPs) are stacked together, where each of the GP is assigned with a different task: the first GP is used to approximate the single-objective function, the second GP is used to learn the unknown constraints, and the third GP is used to learn the uncertain Pareto frontier. At each iteration, a MO augmented Tchebycheff function converting MO to single-objective is adopted and extended with a regularized ridge term, where the regularization is introduced to smoothen the single-objective function. Finally, we couple the third GP along with the classical BO framework to promote the richness and diversity of the Pareto frontier by the exploitation and exploration acquisition function. The proposed framework is demonstrated using several numerical benchmark functions, as well as a thermomechanical finite element model for flip-chip package design optimization.

Abstract Simultaneously incorporating heteroatoms and nonbenzenoid aromatic hydrocarbons, such as azulene, into polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, offers a robust strategy for designing molecules with aesthetic appeal and unique properties. This study presents the successful synthesis and characterization of a series of azulene-based BO-doped heteroaromatics. Investigation into their optical and electrochemical properties, through UV–vis absorption, cyclic voltammetry, and DFT calculations, reveal their sensitivity to fluoride ions, making them promising candidates for chemosensor applications. Notably, unlike the parent azulene, which is sensitive to acid, these new compounds show negligible changes in absorption and NMR spectra when exposed to excess trifluoroacetic acid. This observation suggests that the introduction of BO unit effectively restrains the protonation of azulene moiety.

Abstract We report heat capacity measurements of SrCu_{2}(BO_{3})_{2} under high pressure along with simulations of relevant quantum spin models and map out the (P,T) phase diagram of the material. We find a first-order quantum phase transition between the low-pressure quantum dimer paramagnet and a phase with signatures of a plaquette-singlet state below T=2  K. At higher pressures, we observe a transition into a previously unknown antiferromagnetic state below 4 K. Our findings can be explained within the two-dimensional Shastry-Sutherland quantum spin model supplemented by weak interlayer couplings. The possibility to tune SrCu_{2}(BO_{3})_{2} between the plaquette-singlet and antiferromagnetic states opens opportunities for experimental tests of quantum field theories and lattice models involving fractionalized excitations, emergent symmetries, and gauge fluctuations.
