Abstract The epidemic of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2 and its variants of concern (VOCs) has been ongoing for over 3 years. Antibody therapies encompassing convalescent plasma, hyperimmunoglobulin, and neutralizing monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) applied in passive immunotherapy have yielded positive outcomes and played a crucial role in the early COVID-19 treatment. In this review, the development path, action mechanism, clinical research results, challenges, and safety profile associated with the use of COVID-19 convalescent plasma, hyperimmunoglobulin, and mAbs were summarized. In addition, the prospects of applying antibody therapy against VOCs was assessed, offering insights into the coping strategies for facing new infectious disease outbreaks.

Abstract referential relationships can be communicated through presupposition. The presupposition trigger (also) in Jiayan also bought eggs exerts a pragmatic constraint that besides the object, the verb constrains additional and alternative referents. Our study provided a novel set of evidence that the reader preferred larger- over smaller-sized sets for the scope of presupposition in discourse comprehension. The structural hierarchy in smaller-sized sets and the earlier-mentioned structural details in larger-sized sets drove higher preference. Furthermore, readers' difference in their preference reflected their tendency to attend to discourse structural information. These findings are consistent with the multiple constraints hypothesis/the presupposition maximization principle hypothesis, rather than the local bias hypothesis. The present study enlightened the understanding of structural constraints on processing the number and the identity of presupposed referential information in discourse reading comprehension.

Abstract Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is a powerful technique used for detecting and localizing specific nucleic acid sequences in cells or tissues. Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) is a type of RNA with complementary strands, highly produced during the replication cycle of RNA viruses. dsRNA plays an essential role in many biological processes, including the activation of RNA silencing. Here, we present an overview of how FISH can be employed to detect and locate dsRNA. The detection and localization of dsRNA through FISH provide valuable insights into RNA-mediated processes and their roles in various biological phenomena.

Abstract Environmental pollutants have been recognized for their ability to induce various adverse outcomes in both the environment and human health, including inflammation, apoptosis, necrosis, pyroptosis, and autophagy. Understanding these biological mechanisms has played a crucial role in risk assessment and management efforts. However, the recent identification of ferroptosis as a form of programmed cell death has emerged as a critical mechanism underlying pollutant-induced toxicity. Numerous studies have demonstrated that fine particulates, heavy metals, and organic substances can trigger ferroptosis, which is closely intertwined with lipid, iron, and amino acid metabolism. Given the growing evidence linking ferroptosis to severe diseases such as heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, liver injury, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and cancer, it is imperative to investigate the role of pollutant-induced ferroptosis. In this review, we comprehensively analyze various pollutant-induced ferroptosis pathways and intricate signaling molecules and elucidate their integration into the driving and braking axes. Furthermore, we discuss the potential hazards associated with pollutant-induced ferroptosis in various organs and four representative animal models. Finally, we provide an outlook on future research directions and strategies aimed at preventing pollutant-induced ferroptosis. By enhancing our understanding of this novel form of cell death and developing effective preventive measures, we can mitigate the adverse effects of environmental pollutants and safeguard human and environmental health.
