    Abstract Hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) are porous crystalline materials. The pores in HOFs are usually non-covalent extrinsic pores constructed through the formation of the framework. Supramolecular macrocycles with intrinsic pores in their structures are good candidates for constructing HOFs with intrinsic pores from the macrocycles themselves, thus leading to hierarchically porous structures. Combining the macrocycle and HOFs will endow these hierarchically porous materials with enhanced properties and special functionalities. This review summarizes recent advances in macrocycle-based HOFs, including the macrocycles used for constructing HOFs, the hierarchically porous structures of the HOFs, and the applications induced by the hierarchically HOFs porous structures. This review provides insights for future research on macrocycle-based hierarchically porous HOFs and the appropriate applications of the unique structures.

    Abstract Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is one of the highly malignant brain tumors characterized by significant morbidity and mortality. Despite the recent advancements in the treatment of GBM, major challenges persist in achieving controlled drug delivery to tumors. The management of GBM poses considerable difficulties primarily due to unresolved issues in the blood-brain barrier (BBB)/blood-brain tumor barrier (BBTB) and GBM microenvironment. These factors limit the uptake of anti-cancer drugs by the tumor, thus limiting the therapeutic options. Current breakthroughs in nanotechnology provide new prospects concerning unconventional drug delivery approaches for GBM treatment. Specifically, swimming nanorobots show great potential in active targeted delivery, owing to their autonomous propulsion and improved navigation capacities across biological barriers, which further facilitate the development of GBM-targeted strategies. This review presents an overview of technological progress in different drug administration methods for GBM. Additionally, the limitations in clinical translation and future research prospects in this field are also discussed. This review aims to provide a comprehensive guideline for researchers and offer perspectives on further development of new drug delivery therapies to combat GBM.

    Abstract With the improvement of high-throughput technologies in recent years, large multi-dimensional plant omics data have been produced, and big-data-driven yield prediction research has received increasing attention. Machine learning offers promising computational and analytical solutions to interpret the biological meaning of large amounts of data in crops. In this study, we utilized multi-omics datasets from 156 maize recombinant inbred lines, containing 2496 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), 46 image traits (i-traits) from 16 developmental stages obtained through an automatic phenotyping platform, and 133 primary metabolites. Based on benchmark tests with different types of prediction models, some machine learning methods, such as Partial Least Squares (PLS), Random Forest (RF), and Gaussian process with Radial basis function kernel (GaussprRadial), achieved better prediction for maize yield, albeit slight difference for method preferences among i-traits, genomic, and metabolic data. We found that better yield prediction may be caused by various capabilities in ranking and filtering data features, which is found to be linked with biological meaning such as photosynthesis-related or kernel development-related regulations. Finally, by integrating multiple omics data with the RF machine learning approach, we can further improve the prediction accuracy of grain yield from 0.32 to 0.43. Our research provides new ideas for the application of plant omics data and artificial intelligence approaches to facilitate crop genetic improvements.

    Abstract Newly established enterprises in China face significant challenges and opportunities, with persistently high mortality rates. Navigating market challenges and establishing sustainable competitive advantages are pressing issues for contemporary businesses. This study delves into the bridging role of business model innovation between entrepreneurial bricolage and entrepreneurial performance, with market orientation influencing the relationship boundaries. We examined 288 Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises, investigating the relationships among entrepreneurial bricolage, business model innovation, market orientation, and entrepreneurial performance. Empirical results indicate: (1) Entrepreneurial bricolage positively influences business model innovation, and business model innovation positively impacts entrepreneurial performance. (2) Business model innovation plays a fully mediating positive role between entrepreneurial bricolage and entrepreneurial performance. (3) Market orientation positively moderates the impact of entrepreneurial bricolage on business model innovation and entrepreneurial performance, and it also positively moderates the impact of business model innovation on entrepreneurial performance. (4) Market orientation positively moderates the impact of entrepreneurial bricolage, mediated by business model innovation, on entrepreneurial performance. The study results contribute to a more effective understanding of the mechanisms through which entrepreneurial bricolage and business model innovation influence entrepreneurial performance, as well as how market orientation moderates their relationships and how enterprises sustain competitive advantages.

    Abstract CRISPR/Cas systems stand out because of simplicity, efficiency, and other superiorities, thus becoming attractive and brilliant gene-editing tools in biomedical field including cancer therapy. CRISPR/Cas systems bring promises for cancer therapy through manipulating and engineering on tumor cells or immune cells. However, there have been concerns about how to overcome the numerous physiological barriers and deliver CRISPR components to target cells efficiently and accurately. In this review, we introduced the mechanisms of CRISPR/Cas systems, summarized the current delivery strategies of CRISPR/Cas systems by physical methods, viral vectors, and nonviral vectors, and presented the current application of CRISPR/Cas systems in cancer clinical treatment. Furthermore, we discussed prospects related to delivery approaches of CRISPR/Cas systems.     Abstract Nucleic acids, including DNA and RNA, have been considered as powerful and functional biomaterials owing to their programmable structure, good biocompatibility, and ease of synthesis. However, traditional nucleic acid-based probes have always suffered from inherent limitations, including restricted cell internalization efficiency and structural instability. In recent years, DNA nanotechnology has shown great promise for the applications of bioimaging and drug delivery. The attractive superiorities of DNA nanostructures, such as precise geometries, spatial addressability, and improved biostability, have enabled them to be a novel category of nucleic acid delivery systems for biomedical applications. In this review, we introduce the development of DNA nanotechnology, and highlight recent advances of DNA nanostructure-based delivery systems for cellular imaging and therapeutic applications. Finally, we propose the challenges as well as opportunities for the future development of DNA nanotechnology in biomedical research.

    Abstract The important concept of confined synthesis is considered a promising strategy for the design and synthesis of definable nanostructured materials with controllable compositions and specific morphology, such as highly loaded single-atom catalysts capable of providing abundant active sites for photocatalytic reactions. In recent years, researchers have been working on developing new confined reaction systems and searching for new confined spaces. Here, we present for the first time the concept of a bubble liquid film as a novel confined space. The liquid film has a typical sandwich structure consisting of a water layer, sandwiched between the upper and lower surfactant layers, with the thickness of the intermediate water layer at the micro- and nanometer scales, which can serve as a good confinement.
