Abstract The need for additional fibular osteotomy (FO) when performing supramalleolar osteotomy (SMO) in the varus ankle arthritis (VAA) is controversial. Some cadaveric studies have been performed to prove this; however, it is difficult to implement deformities including talar tilting and translation in cadavers. In this study, we created a model of VAA with the tilting and translation using three-dimensional (3-D) finite element (FE) analysis and analyzed the results of SMO with or without FO depending on the types of VAA. The validated normal foot and ankle 3-D FE model was constructed including the ankle cartilages of the talar dome and tibia plafond. The VAA models were determined and reconstructed by following the classification of VAA, VAA with medial translation for stage 3a, VAA with varus tilting (7.5°) for stage 3b. The postoperative SMO models (SMO with and without FO) were reconstructed by corresponding to each VAA models. The FE analysis conditions were commonly applied. The boundary condition of ankle joint was defined as "sliding condition" and applied 0.002 friction coefficient to realize lubricative property. Loading condition was assumed as a two-leg standing position and half of the subject body weight (325 N) was loaded on center of ground to vertical direction. Contact pressure changes were predicted at the medial ankle cartilage. As a result, in VAA with medial translation, isolated SMO may provide sufficient pressure reduction at the medial ankle joint. However, in VAA with varus tilting, SMO combined with FO could appropriately relieve concentrated pressure at the medial ankle joint.

Abstract Poly-ADP-ribose polymerase inhibitors (PARPis) were first approved for the treatment of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), where as a maintenance therapy they transformed clinical management of this disease in both patients with and without homologous recombination deficiency. In this review, we provide a historical overview of PARPi use in EOC and discuss recent updates on overall survival data, highlighting their impact on regulatory approvals. We explore their potential as combination regimens with antiangiogenic and cell-cycle checkpoint inhibitors, as well as other small molecule inhibitors, to overcome resistance mechanisms and enhance therapeutic efficacy, providing a future perspective on the use of PARPis in EOC treatment.

Abstract This article investigates robust stabilizing control of biological systems modeled by Boolean networks (BNs). A population of BNs is considered where a majority of BNs have the same BN dynamics, but some BNs are inflicted by mutations damaging particular nodes, leading to perturbed dynamics that prohibit global stabilization to the desired attractor. The proposed control strategy consists of two steps. First, the nominal BN is transformed and curtailed into a sub-BN via a simple coordinate transformation and network reduction associated with the desired attractor. The feedback vertex set (FVS) control is then applied to the reduced BN to determine the control inputs for the nominal BN. Next, the control inputs derived in the first step and mutated nodes are applied to the nominal BN so as to identify residual dynamics of perturbed BNs, and additional control inputs are selected according to the canalization effect of each node. The overall control inputs are applied to the BN population, so that the nominal BN converges to the desired attractor and perturbed BNs to their own attractors that are the closest possible to the desired attractor. The performance of the proposed robust control scheme is validated through numerical experiments on random BNs and a complex biological network.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to compare the cardiometabolic disease prevalence and risk factors between individuals categorized as metabolically unhealthy and healthy (MU vs. MH), with normal-weight and obesity (Nw vs. Ob), according to different established criteria for combined metabolic health and weight status; and to assess the optimal metabolic health diagnostic classifications to predict cardiometabolic disease risk factors. Data were obtained from the 2019 and 2020 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys. We applied the nine accepted metabolic health diagnostic classification criteria. Statistical analysis was applied to frequency, multiple logistic regression, and ROC curve analysis. The prevalence of MHNw ranged from 24.6% to 53.9%, MUNw from 3.7% to 37.9%, MHOb from 3.4% to 25.9%, and MUOb from 16.3% to 39.1%. For hypertension, the MUNw had an increased risk ranging from 1.90 to 3.24 times compared with MHNw; MHOb ranged from 1.84 to 3.76 times; MUOb ranged from 4.18 to 6.97 times (all p < .05). For dyslipidemia, the MUNw had an increased risk ranging from 1.33 to 2.25 times compared with MHNw; MHOb ranged from 1.47 to 2.33 times; MUOb ranged from 2.31 to 2.67 times (all p < .05). For diabetes, the MUNw had an increased risk ranging from 2.27 to 11.93 times compared with MHNW; MHOb ranged from 1.36 to 1.95 times; MUOb ranged from 3.60 to 18.45 times (all p < .05). Our study findings revealed that AHA/NHLBI-02 and NCEP-02 can be the best diagnostic classifications criteria for cardiometabolic diseases risk factors.

Abstract A polyurethane series (PHEI-PU) was prepared via a one-shot bulk polymerization method using hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), polycarbonate diol (PCD), and isosorbide derivatives (ISBD) as chain extenders. The mechanical properties were evaluated using a universal testing machine (UTM), and the thermal properties were evaluated using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The PHEI-PU series exhibited excellent mechanical properties with an average tensile strength of 44.71 MPa and an elongation at break of 190%. To verify the applicability of different proportions of PU as an electrode binder, PU and Ag flakes were mixed (30/70 wt%) and coated on PCT substrates, the electrodes were evaluated by four-point probe before and after 50% elongation, and the dispersion was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The electrical resistance change rate of PHEI-PU series was less than 20%, and a coating layer with well-dispersed silver flakes was confirmed even after stretching. Therefore, it exhibited excellent physical properties, heat resistance, and electrical resistance change rate, confirming its applicability as an electrode binder for in-mold coating.

Abstract Information systems play an important role in business management, especially in personnel, budget, and financial management. If an anomaly ensues in an information system, all operations are paralyzed until their recovery. In this study, we propose a method for collecting and labeling datasets from actual operating systems in corporate environments for deep learning. The construction of a dataset from actual operating systems in a company's information system involves constraints. Collecting anomalous data from these systems is challenging because of the need to maintain system stability. Even with data collected over a long period, the training dataset may have an imbalance of normal and anomalous data. We propose a method that utilizes contrastive learning with data augmentation through negative sampling for anomaly detection, which is particularly suitable for small datasets. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we compared it with traditional deep learning models, such as the convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM). The proposed method achieved a true positive rate (TPR) of 99.47%, whereas CNN and LSTM achieved TPRs of 98.8% and 98.67%, respectively. The experimental results demonstrate the method's effectiveness in utilizing contrastive learning and detecting anomalies in small datasets from a company's information system.
