    Abstract A key concept in quantum thermodynamics is extractable work, which specifies the maximum amount of work that can be extracted from a quantum system. Different quantities are used to measure extractable work, the most prevalent of which are ergotropy and the difference between the non-equilibrium and equilibrium quantum free energies. Using the latter, we investigate the evolution of extractable work when an open quantum system undergoes a general quantum process described by a completely-positive and trace-preserving dynamical map. We derive a fundamental equation of thermodynamics for such processes as a relation between the distinct sorts of energy change in such a way that the first and the second law of thermodynamics are combined. We then identify the contributions from the reversible and irreversible processes in this equation and demonstrate that they are respectively responsible for the evolution of heat and extractable work of the open quantum system. Furthermore, we show how this correspondence between irreversibility and extractable work has the potential to provide a clear explanation of how the quantum properties of a system affect its extractable work evolution. Specifically, we establish this by directly connecting the change in extractable work with the change in standard quantifiers of quantum non-Markovianity and quantum coherence during a general quantum process. We illustrate these results with two examples.

    Abstract In this study, the occurrence and environmental risks related to triclosan (TCS) in the two wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) were investigated in Isfahan, Iran. Influent and effluent samples were collected and analyzed by dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME)-GC-MS method with derivatization. Moreover, the risk of TCS exposure was conducted for aquatic organisms (algae, crustaceans, and fishes) and humans (males and females). TCS mean concentrations in influent and effluent of WWTPs were in the range of 3.70-52.99 and 0.83-1.09 μg/L, respectively. There were also no differences in the quantity of TCS and physicochemical parameters among the two WWTPs. The mean risk quotient (RQ) for TCS was higher than 1 (in algae) with dilution factors (DF

    Abstract Objectives: Migraine is a chronic and joint disease in children. The results of previous studies on the effectiveness of probiotics in preventing migraine attacks in children have been controversial. This study aims to investigate the effect of probiotics on migraine prophylaxis in children.
    Materials & methods: In this clinical trial study, 41 children aged 5 to 15 with migraine enrolled the study in two control and intervention groups. Children in the intervention group (18 children) received propranolol at a dose of 1 mg per kilogram of body weight daily in two divided doses along with a 250 mg Yomogi capsule daily for three months, and children in the control group (23 children), received propranolol along with placebo for three months. The study compared the frequency and duration of headache days, PedMIDAS criteria, and parental satisfaction between the two groups before treatment, as well as one month and three months post-treatment.
    Results: The number of headache days in both groups decreased over time, but in the intervention group, this decrease was more than the control group was statistically significant (P=0.045). The average PedMIDAS scale after treatment in the intervention group was 3.9 ± 3.8; in the control group, it was 8.4 ± 8.2, which was statistically significant (P=0.047). Parents' satisfaction with the treatment was statistically significantly higher in the intervention group (94.4%) than in the control group (54.5%) (P=0.011). No significant drug complications were seen in any of the two groups.
    Conclusion: In children with migraine, adding probiotics to migraine treatment reduces the intensity and number of days of children's headaches and increases the Parents' satisfaction with the treatment.

    Abstract 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is an effective chemotherapy drug in the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC). However, auxiliary or alternative therapies must be sought due to its resistance and potential side effects. Certain probiotic metabolites exhibit anticancer properties. In this study evaluated the anticancer and potential therapeutic activities of cell extracts potential probiotic strains, Limosilactobacillus fermentum and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum isolated from the mule milk and the standard probiotic strain Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) against the human colon cancer cell line (HT-29) and the normal cell line (HEK-293) alone or in combination with 5-FU. In this study, L. plantarum and L. fermentum, which were isolated from mule milk, were identified using biochemical and molecular methods. Their probiotic properties were investigated in vitro and compared with the standard probiotic strain of the species L. rhamnosus GG. The MTT assay, acridine orange/ethidium bromide (AO/EB) fluorescent staining, and flow cytometry were employed to measure the viability of cell lines, cell apoptosis, and production rates of Th17 cytokines, respectively. The results demonstrated that the combination of lactobacilli cell extracts and 5-FU decreased cell viability and induced apoptosis in HT-29 cells. Furthermore, this combination protected HEK-293 cells from the cytotoxic effects of 5-FU, enhancing their viability and reducing apoptosis. Moreover, the combination treatment led to an increase in the levels of IL-17A, IFN-γ, and TNF-α, which can enhance anti-tumor immunity. In conclusion, the cell extracts of the lactobacilli strains probably can act as a potential complementary anticancer therapy.

Different quantities are used to measure extractable work, the most prevalent of which are ergotropy and the difference between the non-equilibrium and equilibrium quantum free energy. Furthermore, we discuss the potential benefit of this assignment in favor of a clear explanation of the impact of quantum effects on the evolution of extractable work. Specifically, we establish this by directly connecting the extractable work with standard quantifiers of quantum non-Markovianity and quantum coherence during the process. We illustrate these results with two examples.

    Abstract Elastography is a medical imaging modality that enables visualization of tissue stiffness. It involves quasi-static or harmonic mechanical stimulation of the tissue to generate a displacement field which is used as input in an inversion algorithm to reconstruct tissue elastic modulus. This paper considers quasi-static stimulation and presents a novel inversion technique for elastic modulus reconstruction. The technique follows an inverse finite element framework. Reconstructed elastic modulus maps produced in this technique do not depend on the initial guess, while it is computationally less involved than iterative reconstruction approaches. The method was first evaluated using simulated data (in-silico) where modulus reconstruction's sensitivity to displacement noise and elastic modulus was assessed. To demonstrate the method's performance, displacement fields of two tissue mimicking phantoms determined using three different motion tracking techniques were used as input to the developed elastography method to reconstruct the distribution of relative elastic modulus of the inclusion to background tissue. In the next stage, the relative elastic modulus of three clinical cases pertaining to liver cancer patient were determined. The obtained results demonstrate reasonably high elastic modulus reconstruction accuracy in comparison with similar direct methods. Also it is associated with reduced computational cost in comparison with iterative techniques, which suffer from convergence and uniqueness issues, following the same formulation concept. Moreover, in comparison with other methods which need initial guess, the presented method does not require initial guess while it is easy to understand and implement.

    Abstract One of the most common causes of death worldwide is heart disease, including arrhythmia. Today, sciences such as artificial intelligence and medical statistics are looking for methods and models for correct and automatic diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmia. In pursuit of increasing the accuracy of automated methods, many studies have been conducted. However, in none of the previous articles, the relationship and structure between the heart leads have not been included in the model. It seems that the structure of ECG data can help develop the accuracy of arrhythmia detection. Therefore, in this study, a new structure of Electrocardiogram (ECG) data was introduced, and the Graph Convolution Network (GCN), which has the possibility of learning the structure, was used to develop the accuracy of cardiac arrhythmia diagnosis. Considering the relationship between the heart leads and clusters based on different ECG poles, a new structure was introduced. In this structure, the Mutual Information(MI) index was used to evaluate the relationship between the leads, and weight was given based on the poles of the leads. Weighted Mutual Information (WMI) matrices (new structure) were formed by R software. Finally, the 15-layer GCN network was adjusted by this structure and the arrhythmia of people was detected and classified by it. To evaluate the performance of the proposed new network, sensitivity, precision, specificity, accuracy, and confusion matrix indices were used. Also, the accuracy of GCN networks was compared by three different structures, including WMI, MI, and Identity. Chapman's 12-lead ECG Dataset was used in this study. The results showed that the values of sensitivity, precision, specificity, and accuracy of the GCN-WMI network with 15 intermediate layers were equal to 98.74%, 99.08%, 99.97% & 99.82%, respectively. This new proposed network was more accurate than the Graph Convolution Network-Mutual Information (GCN-MI) with an accuracy equal to 99.71% and GCN-Id with an accuracy equal to 92.68%. Therefore, utilizing this network, the types of arrhythmia were recognized and classified. Also, the new network proposed by the Graph Convolution Network-Weighted Mutual Information (GCN-WMI) was more accurate than those conducted in other studies on the same data set (Chapman). Based on the obtained results, the structure proposed in this study increased the accuracy of cardiac arrhythmia diagnosis and classification on the Chapman data set. Achieving such accuracy for arrhythmia diagnosis is a great achievement in clinical sciences.

    Abstract Triclosan (TCS) has been increased in the water during the COVID-19 pandemic because it cannot remove by conventional water treatment. In addition, it can accumulate in the human body over time through long-term exposure. Therefore, the occurrence of TCS in the water treatment plant (WTP) and tap water, and its human health risk assessment through tap water ingestion, dermal absorption, and inhalation routes in Isfahan, Iran, were investigated. Moreover, spatial regression methods were used for the prediction of water quality parameters, TCS concentration, and total hazard quotient (HQ). The average TCS concentration in the influent and effluent of WTP and tap water was 1.6, 1.4, and 0.4 μg/L, respectively. Conventional WTP has low efficiency in the removal of TCS (12.6%) from water.
